Project RarelyUsed Teambuilding Competition: Week Thirteen- Ground-types

:suicune::sv/entei::raikou: Week Seven: Double Dogs :entei::sv/raikou::suicune:

1742996674861.png

This week we're doubling down on... double dogs! Some of you may be familiar with the concept already; use multiple Calm Mind Pokemon (notably, Raikou and Suicune or VinTei and Suicune) to overwhelm the opposition.

Entei is a dynamic physical threat that can be deceptively annoying for foes with its access to bulky VinTei sets. Raikou is a fast, powerful setup sweeper that can steamroll through teams thanks to its great coverage, or it can function as a key VoltTurn member with teammates like Slither Wing and Galarian Zapdos. Suicune, meanwhile, is generally known for being absurdly bulky and having excellent longevity that, in conjunction with Pressure, can allow it to beat even would-be checks like Volcanion with ease. This, however, does not capture how offensively threatening Suicune can be, using the patented CroCune to great success as well. Regardless of which duo you decide to use, and which sets you use on them, I look forward to seeing how you all create teams that utilize two of the Legendary Beasts. Please have your submissions in by Friday, March 28th at 3pm GMT -6.

:raikou::suicune::entei::oricorio-pom-pom::maushold::bisharp:
dog spam HO, including everyone's favorite dogs: Suicune, Entei, The yellow one, The bird yellow one! anyways let's cut the intro and get right away to the team explanation

:SV/Lycanroc-Dusk:
Yellow Dog
Raikou is the team's lead, jolly as ever, thanks to it's fast speed, access to Stealth Rock, Taunt, Endeavor and close combat it can safely place hazards and stop the opponent from placing their own while also being able to do close combat shenanigans on the likes of Empoleon, Cyclizar and Krookodile. all aroudn classic lead nothing to say

:SV/Suicune:
Blue dog
sub tect calm mind scald, wins every duel with physical attackers with a 30%, an evil set we all know and hate, hatred being the running theme of the team as all our mons are mean-spirited and plan on manipulating the opponent into clicking the forfeit button, sub beats Umbreon and other toxic users, which is useful for other teammates down the line

:SV/Entei:
Red dog
everyone's most hated unset! steal wins with MORE burn shenanigans and swagger bs! you also get priority for max annoyance factor! you love to see it, has been scientifically proven to produce more salt than the Sifto Salt Mines! order now!

:SV/Oricorio-pom-pom:
FLYING Yellow Dog!
Raikou is one of the team's most potent settup sweepers, since we already have a Suicune we go with a more offensive set that benefits from Suicune beating Umbreon and uses Revelation Dance to beat Goodra-Hisui, weakened Umbreon and Bisharp, while hurricane is a general fuck-you button for threats that wowuld live a rev-dance, be careful as great power comes with great miss-chance

:SV/Maushold:
Maushold, helps Bird Raikou and Entei by keeping hazards off, also helps entei by sharing the same physical walls allowing Entei and Maus to help each-other by doing huge damage to their common checks, also just great at killing people, everyone knows what maus does

:SV/Bisharp:
Everyone knows Bisharp, the greatest of all time, as annoying and unfair as all the other mons and also very bulky, just does bisharp thigns to help the team do HO things

thank you for reading this analysis, have a good day and vote for me

Double Dogs + Cress BO
:Suicune::Cresselia::Entei::Weezing-Galar::Goodra-Hisui::Zapdos-Galar:
:Suicune: - You know what this guy does, sets up sub, uses cm, be annoying as hell with great bulk and a chance to burn.

:Cresselia: - One of Suicune's problems is status moves, so Lunar Dance solves that problem, though it also be used for Entei and zap. It's also a mixed wall that can shut down set up sweepers or hinder fast wallbreakers.

:Entei: - Sneaky's right, adamant Entei is fun. It threatens krook, slither, fez, and tflame for Suicune. Crunch for basc isn't needed, as hoodra can handle it.

:Weezing-Galar: - A knock off absorber and hazard remover, two things that the team is weak to so far. It also checks cycle, dark types for cress, fighting types, and zap.

:Goodra-Hisui: - The team needed an electric resist, a special wall, and a phaser for bro and the fuck ass bird (Entei checks ori, but an extra check doesn't hurt). Tbolt shits on water types and can be used to preserve draco. Even if a mon uses tera fairy, Flash Cannon nails it.

:Zapdos-Galar: - Self explanatory bird that provides speed control, checks fighting types for hoodra, and checks psychic types for geezing.

Replays:
vs. real anna faris: Reun used Future Sight and switched to craw two turns later. Geezing would die to Future Sight, so I predicted the switch and used hoodra's tbolt. Missing draco would mean geezing dying to a cb Crabhammer.

Double Dogs but i'm broke
https://pokepast.es/1d9b52106e687385

i ran out of budget halfway through making the team, sorry

:pmd/suicune: Suicune! Here as one of the double dogs, fills the role of setup sweeper to clean up and beat bulkier teams that this team may encounter. Using the classic set that we all know and hate, Suicune manages to be the most threatening thing on this team by a slim margin.

:pmd/entei: Using Sneakyplanner's signature adamant entei set, this mon is here to click buttons and burn things, and if needed, act as very crucial priority or even a nuke with tera normal double edge!

:pmd/raikou: Raikou is here to act as the unneeded but still welcomed third dog on this team, with the goal of forming a very effective voltturn core with Cyclizar, and generally making progress for Suicune and gang to capitalize on.

:pmd/krookodile: Krookodile is here to lay hazards, knock items, and taunt Umbreons. The works.

:pmd/cyclizar: You know what cycliar does. beats broken horoark sometimes, and generally does what it does.

:pmd/goodra-hisui: Hoodra is here to click buttons and break shit, with the now oft unseen choice specs set that can still put out massive damage if positioned well.

REPLAY ZONE:

fuck you

:raikou: :entei: :cyclizar: :swampert: :bisharp: :zapdos galar:

No, I am not a week late.

:pmd/raikou: Raikou is the first part of the dog duo, with it being a good pivot to get teammates in and out. Thunder wave can help bisharp and entei to sweep easier and cripples special walls such as cyclizar.

:pmd/entei: CB entei is the main breaker of the team, with it doing great damage. Double edge with tera normal absolutely nukes physical walls such as slowbro and hippowdon.

:pmd/cyclizar: Classic special wall and removal of the team. Not much to talk about.

:pmd/swampert: Main physical wall of the team, rocky helmet can help gain chip damage against u-turns and stuff like maushold. Otherwise standard set.

:pmd/bisharp: Obligatory steel type of the team, while allowing for a doubl priority core. Standard set.

:pmd/zapdos galar: Standard speed control, nothing more to say.

:gallade: :pmd/gallade: :sv/gallade: Week 8 Gallade :sv/gallade: :pmd/gallade: :gallade:
1747011075257.png

This week, we are doing Sirnight (wait, we aren't, thats Gardevoir), and choosing Gallade.
Gallade has been doing very well recently, with its sheer wallbreaking power being very useful as teams start to lean more into a Gastro+Geezing direction. Gallade has quite a bit of set variety, with SD, Agility, Choice Band, Choice Scarf, Assault Vest and even Bulk Up having seen uses. But maybe there is something that nobody else has discovered that?

Submissions are open until Friday, May 16th at 9am GMT+0.

CB Gallade VoltTurn Balance
:Gallade::Zapdos-Galar::Empoleon::Weezing-Galar::Ribombee::Magnezone:
:Gallade: - CB hits so hard man, especially with 300 BP Sacred Sword. Although bro, geezing, and hippo check zap, Gallade 2HKOs them (it's a 75% chance to OHKO geezing).

:Zapdos-Galar: - Speedy bird that makes up Gallade's poor speed.

:Empoleon: - Checks arma and garde by being a special wall. It also forms an offensive VoltTurn core with zap by providing safe entry points for it and Gallade, and has sr to wear down mons.

:Weezing-Galar: - Zap and mmq destroy this team so far, so gweezing is the most obvious pick. Plus, it puts less strain on the two fighting mons for scarf mien and terrak. Toxic is over will-o because it puts timers on set-up mons and defensive counterplays, though will-o can work just as well.

:Ribombee: - The Bee™ threatens mence and necro for the team. Its high speed tier also means it can spam STAB moves, potentially cleaning up teams. Psychic Noise nails fez and has a better mu compared to Gallade. The last slot is flexible. You can either Switcheroo to shut down potential threats or U-turn to provide more momentum.

:Magnezone: - Zone rounds out the team by being a slow pivot, providing various resistances, and luring Entei and arma with tb water. The fast pivots further benefit from its presence, as it absorbs paralysis.

Replays:
vs. poordad: Unintentional read + tb water zone cleaning up
vs. Souffle Flameberry: Wallbreakers punching holes with sr
vs. windd tempos: Playing around Future Sight with VoltTurn

Agility Gallade HO
:lycanroc-dusk: :gallade: :armarouge: :bisharp: :salamence: :maushold:

i won't go over every mon one by one because it's a very standard HO structure but i will talk about why i chose gallade and what it brings to a team

:sv/gallade:

so recently i was talking with professional retired gamer feliburn and he told me that i should force myself to use armarouge less as an early progress maker and more as a late-game sweeper or cleaner and i thought "but then who do i use to do that sweet early game progress" then it hit me
Gallade does exactly that, in fact, there isn't really any wallbreaker as good at breaking walls, so much so that it doesn't even need swords dance to trade with physical walls, which leads to Agility Gallade with scope lens for damage, perfect to get that early game progress going, it can also clean well later in the game although it works best earlier in the game to put some early pressure and do good progress to domino effect into giving your other mons setup opportunities, using it like that also alleviates the bulk issue: it doesn't mind getting revenge killed once it did it's job, it also makes our matchup into fatter structures, especially stall leagues better, at the cost of kinda flopping into armarouge and thus, HO but maus bish arma mence has a very good matchup into other HOs anyways so that's fine. Tera fire is chosen for it's ability to sponge a will-o from weezing-galar if you want your Gallade to stay around and not just trade with it while also beating talonflame and sableye, good for aforementionned stall matchup.
It overall brings something to HO no other mons can do, as an almost unwallable breaker that will guarantee progress, helping the team immensely, it still struggles into more offensive structures who don't let it come in as much but the rest of the team makes sure these matchups are still manageable, and if gallade *can* setup into more offensive teams it can be tricky to answer because it outspeeds practically everything
also, scope lens is really good for 50% crit rate on psycho cut and leaf blade but also because your opponent does not know the item you're holding, which makes winning the crit coin tosses incredibly funny

more replays coming soon™
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ru-2365383543 - Hippo is put in gallade range, allowing it to kill to then allow mence to win
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ru-2365378812 - gallade becomes fast then kills some weakened mons and a full hp quag
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ru-2365395517 - gallade forces an early tera by being hard to answer without spending important resources which results in mence winning

Tele Gallade + SpecsChes

Had some fun building this one ngl since Gallade is such a fun mon to use with Sharpness. Anyway, let me get into it.

:gallade: The starting mon obviously and I went with a move that I'm sure people forgot it had and that's Teleport. Only about a handful of mons get it this gen after a fair few got it last gen as a pivoting move. I believe dual STABs + Leaf Blade works as good coverage coupled with Sharpness do deal decent damage to what it wants. Teleport lets it pivot into stuff like Hippo and Slowbro since Gallade would just rather not face them. Nothing wrong Tera Steel to "stop" Flyings/Fairy/Psychic moves.

:empoleon: Your good ol' SpDef Steel with a phazing move in Roar for potential sweepers like Cune. Ice Beam for Grasses and Dragons ofc. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Could run Knock, Flip Turn, etc instead. Tera Fairy for a Fighting resist and stuff.

:basculegion-f: The scarfer of the team and will do its job well. Again, nothing special here. Outside fact here (maybe not idk), but you could run Mold Breaker for Water absorbers like Gastro, Volc, etc. Adapt is def. the go-to, but the option is there. Tera Ghost for boosted Shadow Balls ofc.

:rhyperior: Da rocker of the team with coverage for Dragons/Grasses/Grounds. Consider running SD or smth to make it even more dangerous ofc. Tera Dragon shouldn't be a shocker here for the huge Water/Grass weakness.

:weezing-galar: The go-to Fighting counter (aside from opposing Gallade ofc) of the team. Sometimes I wish Weezing didn't have a slight case of 4MSS since Taunt could be nice here, but it is what it is lol.

:chesnaught: The potential unsung hero of the team here. Yeah, I went Specs here for Gallade's aforementioned checks. It doesn't cover all of them ofc since idt there's any 1 mon that can do that. But the point is, Ches will get the job done. Always nice to have a nuke Leaf Storm at the ready right?

I used it for RU Open recently and it did very well despite Gallade not using Tele
RU Open R3 Game 1

Voting for Week 8 is live. Please nominate one team before the deadline of Friday, May 23rd at 9am GMT +0.

:Gallade::Zapdos-Galar::Empoleon::Weezing-Galar::Ribombee::Magnezone: CB Gallade VoltTurn Balance by Tubular
:lycanroc-dusk: :gallade: :armarouge: :bisharp: :salamence: :maushold: Agility Gallade HO by Canard
:gallade: :empoleon: :basculegion-f: :rhyperior: :weezing-galar: :chesnaught: Tele Gallade +SpecsChes by Oathkeeper

My vote goes to Oathkeeper. Not only is Pads Gallade a great way to punish Pokemon such as Bellibolt and Talonflame that might take Gallade's hits, but specs Chesnaught is a crack set that I have to respect the hell out of for trying to make work.
