Project NatDex OU Teambuilding Competition v2 - Cycle 15: Garchomp

Gonna call this off, Genesis9507 team takes it! Your team will be added to the Hall Of Fame.

Cycle Eleven
:sv/iron-moth:

While definitely negatively impacted by the Tera ban, Iron Moth remains a threatening cleaner for offensive teams by virtue of its interesting offensive typing, ability to snowball with Fiery Dance, and great speed tier. It can pair with Tapu Koko for some classic Electric Terrain abuse, or it can work as part of an HO chain that systematically beats down the opposition. Lack of coverage for threats like Heatran and Toxapex is a significant hinderance, but this paradoxical bug can severely threaten many common teams. What can you do with this futuristic insect!

Z-Overheat Fire Spam Sun

:iron-moth: :charizard-mega-y: :heatran: :great-tusk: :roaring-moon: :hatterene:

Charizard-Y enables some freaky stuff, and this Iron Moth is no exception. Booster Energy Iron Moth has shown its potential of sweeping teams with the right coverage, and I think this set hits the mark without having to choose which coverage it wants to sacrifice. With Firium-Z in hand, you don't need coverage moves to beat your checks, you just get a fiery dance boost and nuke stuff. Charizard is running 4A so that it can beat both Mega Tyranitar and Heatran for Moth, and Iron Moth can run Morning Sun to wreak havoc multiple times throughout the match and flip the matchup on defensive mons like Toxapex. In fact, not only is this Iron Moth capable of beating Toxapex, it's able to cleanly switch into Toxapex in sun and set up on it with its toxic immunity. As you might notice, switch-ins to Tapu Lele and Diancie are non-existant, so Scarf Heatran provides a semblance of a switch-in to each and acts as the primary speed control for this team while also just throwing out sun-boosted Eruptions. As you might also notice, this team loses to scarf Urshifu clicking Surging x6, so I added a defensive Tusk with rocky helmet which threatens it and opposing Roaring Moon. Roaring Moon provides extra speed control and a stop-gap against Yard/Mdia and Mega Latios/Tapu Lele. Finally, Hatterene switches in and hopes to deny hazards, and if not, it brings in a fire-type of your choice and can heal one of them up later on. Unfortunately the one Toxapex I've faced so far timed out before the Mothening, but I will report the replay when the time comes. Have Fun!

Iron Moth + Garchomp BO

:slowbro::ferrothorn::zapdos::garchomp::iron-moth::tapu-lele:

This was initially a team centered around Jellicent with Iron Moth being used as a good partner by handling bulky Grasses while being more comfortable around bulky Grounds thanks to Jelli spreading Wisp. However, I realized Jellicent sucked and booted it for Slowbro, who does basically the same thing but a bit slow(bro)er. Ferrothorn and Zapdos do a great job of covering the tier while being not immediately succumbing to Waterpon, which lets me play a bit fast and loose with the team. Garchomp is a great Iron Moth partner, blowing up Toxapex and Heatran that annoy it and just generally be8ng a great wallbreaker. Moth is still decent here as a breaker thanks to hazards and Future Sight handling baically all of its answers. Lele rounds out the team as a great revenge killer; Aromatherapy is a leftover from the Jelli version, but it can be anything really.
