Project UU Next Best Thing: Cycle 3: Why Don't U Love Me [Tinkaton Voting]

Congratulations to roxie for winning Cycle One with Protective Pads + Play Rough :protective_pads: Meowscarada. Good shit goat.

"Cycle Two ~ Eternal Sunshine ft. Arcanine-H"
059-h.png

Did you guys know Dusk used to go by this song name??? How cute. Anyways, UU NBT. Arcanine-H sticks out consistently due to its access to high-power moves in Flare Blitz and Head Smash in conjunction with Rock Head. This allows Arcanine-H to punch holes in mainstream Pokémon like Blissey, Latios, and Skarmory. The dog is pretty frightened by a couple of threats, however, like Keldeo, Gastrodon, Sandy Shocks, etc, but this alone doesn't negate that it's pretty threatening on preview for various Flying-, Steel-, and Fire-type Pokemon like Tornadus-T, Thundurus-T, Scizor, and Skeledirge. The deadline for submissions will end on May 9th (Tuesday-Friday).

Tera Type: Normal / Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Flare Blitz
- Double-Edge
- Agility

Finds a nice use on HO teams where it can get an agility up and start smashing shit through especially with LO head smash and flare blitz being able to tear stuff apart, Focus sash gives you an extra life especially early game when you can get an agility up on stuff like tornadus, ogerpon, deo-s, etc. Double edge smacks gastro, keldeo, and does a shit ton of damage especially with tera normal against waters. Tera Fire allows u to smoke stuff such as skarmory who may want to take a hit and press you, turn a grass neutrality inot a resistance, and remove the vacuum wave weakness

Arcanine-Hisui @ Focus Sash
Ability: Rock Head
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Stealth Rock

Pretty self-explanatory, general idea is that its a rocker that threatens to nuke the opponent. I used this set against Kate in UU Masters and it uh... got walled by a Gastro but hey! It got rocks up and I could use it as a sack later! Tera Ghost lets you block opposing lead Excadrill's Rapid Spin, Espeed also lets you pick off any opposing leads that are on their own sashes, and generally the set can get your HO off to a good start against more offensive builds.

SubSun Harc

Arcanine-Hisui @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Rock Head
Tera Type: Rock/Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Flare Blitz
- Substitute
- Morning Sun

Substitute is a pretty underrated move in the Meta overall for punishing passive mons like slowking, and Harc can use it to ease predicts on top of packing resists to the two most common anti sub moves in the meta (Taxel and Torch Song). Morning Sun Lets you heal up to keep subbing. You could drop Msun for Extreme Speed but you lose a lot of longevity. Tera Rock is honestly kinda disgusting in damage sometimes and lets you do stuff like this:

252 Atk Tera Rock Arcanine-Hisui Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Gastrodon: 204-241 (47.8 - 56.5%) -- 87.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Tera Rock Arcanine-Hisui Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 164-193 (50.7 - 59.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Tera Rock Arcanine-Hisui Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowking: 248-294 (62.9 - 74.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Tera Rock Arcanine-Hisui Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Sandy Shocks: 154-182 (49.5 - 58.5%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO

Alternatively Ghost lets you sub up on fighters.

fake sd harc (Arcanine-Hisui) @ Liechi Berry/Weakness Policy
Ability: Rock Head
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 124 SpD / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Head Smash
- Howl

This set invests heavily in harc's bulk, allowing it to live thundy's focus blast, potentially using it to set up thanks to weakness policy/it being knocked into liechi range. Once it gets to +2 (or +3), you can do some pretty cool stuff like ohko np torn w/ tera normal espeed and ohko np apple w/ head smash. I started off building this around liechi but honestly weakness could be better w/ all the weak flip turns and focus blasts it lives. Howl just gives it a little more firepower to safely deal w/ shit. This could honestly be a pretty silly set on ho teams

relevant calcs:
252 SpA Thundurus-Therian Focus Blast vs. 72 HP / 124 SpD Arcanine-Hisui: 294-348 (84.2 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Tera Normal Arcanine-Hisui Extreme Speed vs. 56 HP / 8 Def Tornadus-Therian: 313-370 (100 - 118.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Arcanine-Hisui Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 92 Def Hydrapple: 417-492 (100.2 - 118.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Special Attacker HK9:

Arcanine-Hisui @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Fire / Rock
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Power Gem
- Solar Beam
- Morning Sun

Even if harc has a very good attack of 115, we often forget his special attack. In addition, it allows him to remove rock head in favor of intimidate enabling it to be more resistant against physical attackers. Under the sun, harc can do great damage with the life orb. Coupled with Morning Sun, it allows him to heal himself at 100%. Solar Beam is a very good coverage because it allows him to catch mons like Gastrodon or Rhinastoc.

252 SpA Life Orb Arcanine-Hisui Power Gem vs. 252 HP / 64 SpD Assault Vest Tornadus-Therian: 187-221 (51.6 - 61%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Tera Rock Arcanine-Hisui Power Gem vs. 252 HP / 164 SpD Skeledirge: 380-452 (92.2 - 109.7%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Arcanine-Hisui Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon: 447-530 (104.9 - 124.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Arcanine-Hisui Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 240 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 472-558 (108.7 - 128.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Tera Fire Arcanine-Hisui Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Heatran in Sun: 359-424 (93 - 109.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Arcanine-Hisui @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rock Head
Tera Type: Rock > Normal | Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Will-O-Wisp / Stealth Rock / Close Combat

Choice Scarf catches non-scarf Meowscarada & Latios sets and overall just deviates from the HDB set. Requires more direct hazard focus but offense is pretty good right now. Tornadus-T is pretty stellar on balance too so luring misc threat on a simple deviation seems cute in certain situations. I went for an adamant nature because I was against an Arcanine-H for slam and it was a roll for Head Smash to KO my Latios in my favor and thought it was danger (if it was Adamant but it was Jolly) lol.

Cycle 3: Why Don't You Love Me (Tinkaton)
</3 :sv/tinkaton: </3

On July 1st, Marty announced "Tinkaton moving from OU to UU". An early Christmas gift for UU, but in retrospect just a broken heart for Tinkaton? What did Tinkaton do to Overused to be treated this way? Hopefully, Tinkaton can remain in UU permanently because it shines as both a Mold Breaker and Pickpocket user in UU due to its amazing defensive Steel/Fairy typing and utility in Stealth Rocks, Knock Off, Thunder Wave, and more! How could OU not love this mon? </3 </3 There are no submissions on the SmogDex for SV so all and any submission are encouraged to help develop some sets for the Pokémon again! The deadline for submissions will end on Wednesday Night.
none!

Tinkaton @ Light Clay
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Gigaton Hammer
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Stealth Rock

This is a set that was popular at the end of tink's time in UU, this set allows it to set screens while also setting up rocks, mimicking deo-s while not exploding to lokix or smth like taunt torn t how mew does

Tinkaton @ Air Balloon
Ability: Pickpocket
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Gigaton Hammer
- Thunder Wave
- Encore

I snatched this out of my older SV UU teams but I used it on more offensive teams and it could situationally be useful just for grabbing boots from a U-turn Tornadus, Encoring a Ground-type like Clodsire, and compressing Rocks+Twave mainly to provide openings for certain deviations. The speed naturally creeps Arcanine-H, so you can Tera Water on its Flare Blitz (or on Keldeo, maybe if you need). I've always tried putting Tera Ghost on this but Sinistcha probably does cute with Thunder Wave to help it CM. Snatching Weavile's item gives direct progress adversely so you can steal boots on specific turns thus supporting something like CM Sinistcha.

Tinkaton @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Flying/Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Gigaton Hammer
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
Allows you to use tink's defensive strength (albeit to a lesser effect) to set up on mons like latios. Damage Highlights include:

+2 252 Atk Life Orb Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 356-420 (98.6 - 116.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

+4 252 Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Tera Steel Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 252 HP / 208+ Def Skarmory: 276-325 (82.6 - 97.3%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

+4 252 Atk Life Orb Tera Steel Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowking: 391-461 (99.2 - 117%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

+4 252 Atk Life Orb Mold Breaker Tera Steel Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 252 HP / 92+ Def Skeledirge: 391-461 (94.9 - 111.8%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

+4 252 Atk Life Orb Tera Steel Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 0 HP / 252 Def Cobalion: 312-368 (96.5 - 113.9%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

These are all resists and you have 2 other moves

Tinkaton @ Red Card
Ability: Pickpocket
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 52 SpD / 44 Spe
Impish Nature
- Gigaton Hammer
- Knock Off / Foul Play
- Encore
- Thunder Wave / Stealth Rock

Red Card + Pickpocket, you force a sweeper or big threat out and then steal smth else, pretty straight forward. Encore seemed pretty necessary for forcing sweepers to be locked into their setup move so they cant just ohko you and dodge the red card, but otherwise both Twave and Rocks work in the last slot. Knock Off is better for utility while Foul Play punishes setup more. Overall Tink's overall impact in UU isnt as large as it would seem imo, but its still a fine mon with some fun options.
