- Ice Spinner / Temper Flare
[SET COMMENTS]
Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk is a fantastic entry hazard setter thanks to Hearthflame Mask providing Mold Breaker, which ignores all Magic Bounce stones being used while also punishing teams that use said ability as their only form of entry hazard control. Knock Off allows Great Tusk to rid switch-ins such as Ho-Oh and Lunala of their Heavy-Duty Boots. Head Smash still handles Ho-Oh while also 2HKOing Sablenite Mandibuzz at the cost of recoil damage. Stone Edge is a slightly weaker option that doesn't wear down Great Tusk as fast; however, it misses out on some key benchmarks, such as 2HKOing Sablenite Mandibuzz. Ice Spinner rounds out Great Tusk's coverage, nailing opposing Ground-types such as non-Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk and Arceus-Ground. Temper Flare is an alternative for a secondary STAB move that nails Corviknight specifically. Rapid Spin can also be slotted in the last slot as emergency hazard control; however, due to lacking an -ate ability, this set struggles to be a reliable spinner. Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk pairs extremely well with more offensive behemoths such as Metagrossite Urshifu-R and Raging Bolt thanks to its Fairy resistance, which lets it handle the likes of Magearna and Altarianite Hisuian Arcanine, and ability to provide chip damage for the aforementioned threats to achieve better benchmarks when aiming to KO the foe. Furthermore, Urshifu-R can threaten Ground-types such as opposing Great Tusk and Arceus-Ground, while Raging Bolt can handle the Water-types that threaten Great Tusk such as Arceus-Water and opposing Urshifu-R. Other good partners include specially defensive walls like Lunala, Garganacl, and Magearna, as they can shore up Great Tusk's weaker defensive stat and form a nice defensive core alongside Great Tusk.
