Project RarelyUsed Teambuilding Competition: Week Twelve - Hisuian Lilligant

Week 9: Choice Scarf
1747963145525.png

This week, we will be doing the Choice Scarf item. Its a very simple concept, the user gains a 50% speed boost at the cost of being unable to switch moves when in battle. Despite this restriction, it finds itself on many a pokemon due to the insane power having a 50% speed boost is. It especially pairs well with switch moves, allowing for the users to get in and out of battle while not having the crippling effect being locked into a move has.

However, there will be a special rule in place. Pokemon that already have Choice Scarf as a main option on the dex will not be allowed to be used as the Choice Scarf user in this week (if Choice Scarf is listed as a Other Option, then it will be allowed). That includes:
Basculegion F
Cresselia
Espeon
Flygon
Gallade
Gardevoir
Gengar
Infernape
Jirachi
Kleavor
Krookodile
Mienshao
Rotom-Mow
Terrakion
Zapdos Galar

Submissions will be open until Friday, May 30th at 9am GMT+0 (note the long building period, this is due to the unorthodox nature of this week, so more time will be given to allow competitors to make a team).

Scarf Pawmot Balance
:pawmot: :suicune: :jirachi: :weezing-galar: :noivern: :krookodile:
pawmot.png
- pawmot's been a mon i've wanted to try for a while, and it just so happens to be a solid scarfer due to its speed creeping other scarfers like gapdos while also providing utility with natural cure and moves like knock off and volt switch. you could def try revival blessing over volt switch on this team
suicune.png
- the team's wincon and token bulky water, subcm is chosen to help it take on status spammers like jirachi and umbreon. the evs prevent quagsire's eq from breaking its substitute while also outspeeding jolly slither wing (among others). tera dark helps it handle armarouge and its psyshocks (which this team otherwise struggles with) and protects it from psychic noise (among other things).
jirachi.png
- rather than a rocker, jirachi acts as a more general utility pivot and wish passer. psychic noise lets it beat geezing while also disrupting healing from fat guys like hippowdon and slowbro. doom desire is an option over wish as well
geezingreal.png
- it's a geezing. acts as the blanket physical attacker check and hazard removal. sludge bomb is preferred to not give fire types like volcanion and entei a free entry point, but steam is always an option
noivern.png
- provides disruption and damage while checking volcanion, among others. spread is from my mew rmt, but to keep it brief, it gives noivern a little extra bulk while also letting it KO volcanion with draco after a super fang
krook.png
- the stealth rocker of the team, helps check gengar and forces progress with both knock off and taunt. moxie is used to stop bisharp's defiant from procing. not much else to say
s/o Flabeauf for giving input o/

Scarf Slither Wing Sun
https://pokepast.es/70663ccae360847b

Hey all, I'm new to the format, and I figured giving this challenge a shot would be a fun way to get acquainted with the tier. I cooked up a sun team with tera fire scarf slither wing! This is a bulky offense team which wins by making smart sacrifices to position the right mons to break, so other mons can clean.

- The star of the show, scarf Slither Wing just clicks buttons under sun. Scarf allows it to outspeed some important mons like scarf Gardevoir and +1 Regidrago, and all around catch opponents off-guard. Tera Flare Blitz in sun ends games. Click buttons.

torkoal.png
- Sun setter of choice and hazard warrior. Typical stuff here.

magnezone.png
- AV Magnezone not only punches holes into teams, it also keeps us from crumbling to opposing psychic types, which are all too common and which the rest of the team struggles to switch into.

volcanion.png
- Another bulky breaker, one that also loves the sun. Sun-boosted Flamethrower means we can forego a water move, meaning we can run Earth Power as well as Taunt + Body Press all in one set. Volcanion makes for a versatile piece in this squad.

lilligant-hisui.png
-The second main sun abuser of the team is Lilligant, outspeeding and pressuring important threats like Gapdos while unboosted under sun, and excelling at using that pressure to get off free Victory Dances. This thing also ends games.

fezandipiti.png
- Lastly, Fezandipiti glues the team together, bringing more momentum to complement Wing and Zone, shoring up some leftover weaknesses, and being able to break by setting up Calm Minds on passive mons in the midgame.

Replays:
Nothing but middle-ground plays.
Tera Fire Lilligant brings it home.
Slither Wing does the thing.

Gapdos FEZ scarf

https://pokepast.es/91f5849cb41c97d2

fezandipiti.png
the concept being to take a little-used scarf, I decided to opt for a fez, which I saw shining in rupl from Ajna

:slowbro: Bulky water, mamo check, late cleaner etc. Play fez and gweez in the same team is a bit strange and I needed a mamo check

:Zapdos-Galar: The "fake scarf". In a classic team, gapdos is usualy the choice scarf but in this team I've decided on a protectiv pad set that will greatly weaken current checks such as hippo, gastro, gweez, without taking the damage of rh.

volcanion.png
breaker and trapper, volcanion will annoy defensive pokemons in the same way as gapdos in order to facilitate fez kills

:Cyclizar: ghost imu, spin, pivot, prevents set up with dtail

:Jirachi: pivot, sr, steel

Scarf Pawmot Balance
fuck you Bice, I wanted to use Pawmot (lighthearted)
:Pawmot: - Pawmot's a mon I heard good things about on Discord. Scarf means it outpaces the meta without setup, only speed tying with mien and gar outspeeding it. Natural Cure means it doesn't worry about status, especially with it's ability to pivot out of undesirable mus. Knock Off is Knock Off and helps wear down mons with rachi's sr.

:Basculegion-F: - Addresses dragons and physically defensive mons such as hippo and ches for paw. Bascu can also do slow pivots for paw and tflame.

:Jirachi: - I'm also stealing your rachi set, Bice. It deals with fairy, grass, and psychic for the two breakers. Psychic Noise and Encore hinders setup sweepers and fat mons.

:Weezing-Galar: - Handles ground for paw and rachi while also doing geezing things. Sludge Bomb improves the fire mu, though you can also run Strange Steam.

:Umbreon: - A special wall that checks volc and arma, two mons that threaten defensively without the team doing emergency teras. Wish provides recovery during switch ins and especially for rachi and geezing. Twave supports bascu in the Entei mu.

:Talonflame: - Finally, I needed a fast physical sweeper and another ground immunity. Bulky dd mega doodoo mence can be used over tflame, but I like tflame's ability to ward off setup and physical mons with Flame Body and Taunt. It should be used late game for weakened teams without/worn down steel mons.

Replay:
vs. Attacker98: Although tflame couldn't set up, it killed a burned ches and vern through the help of umber's wish and paw's pivoting. Bascu then cleaned up with paw cc'ing rachi.

Scarf Mamoswine Spikestack
:mamoswine: :jirachi: :cyclizar: :chesnaught: :rotom heat: :suicune:

:pmd/mamoswine: When Mamoswine dropped, Evie talked about scarf mamoswine as a niche option. I dismissed it at the time as not a worthwhile option, but after trying it now, yeah, this is a good set and I was completely wrong. Scarf mamoswine can get the jump on quite a few faster pokemon that expect to outspeed it such as gengar, tera cyclizar, jirachi and entei. And since we don't need ice shard as much, heavy slam is a good option which can 2hit ko geezing, though ofc be careful of tera steel. If geezing does tera steel, then mamoswine cannot do anything, but that is a trade mamo is willing to take since chesnaught now can beat it.

:pmd/jirachi: Steel and rocker of the team, you know what rachi does, so not going to explain it too much. U-turn can get teammates in safely.

:pmd/cyclizar: Dedicated removal of the team, not much to be said. Handles special attackers pretty well.

:pmd/chesnaught: Dedicated spiker of the team, helps rack up chip damage and deals with powerful threats in the tier.

:pmd/rotom heat: Heattom is the main ground immune of the team and mamo answer. Nasty plot combimed with spikes makes heattom incredibly annoying to switch into, pressuring pokemon such as gastrodon and cyclizar that would usually take it on.

:pmd/suicune: Bulky water of the team and the secondary setup sweeper of the team. Crocune is a lot more self sufficient, so we went with it here. HDB is here to make the MU against gastrodon teams a lot easier.

Voting for Week 9 is live. Please nominate TWO teams before the deadline of Sunday, June 1st at 9am GMT +0.

:mamoswine: :jirachi: :cyclizar: :chesnaught: :rotom heat: :suicune: Scarf Mamoswine Spikestack by Heatranator
:ribombee: :zapdos-galar: :basculegion-f: :diancie: :bisharp: :mamoswine: Scarf Bee Webs by colorednaem

My two votes go to Daharan and Tubular. Scarf fez is a tested tour set with tera blast ground being cool to break through steels and poisons on its own, while I will always respect herscu gaming and Taunt SD talon is a cool set.

Scarf Bee Webs
I built this team a few months ago but it is still pretty solid. The idea of scarf bee at the time was that it threatened the usual way people counter lead bee such as leading scarf gapdos to uturn and break sash as well as get up hazards with stuff like registeel and rachi.
:ribombee: pretty standard webs bee set but with switcheroo > stun spore so you can get the jump on scarf gapdos and cripple defensive mons. Originally it was modest for a favourable roll on gapdos but with the rise of pads gapdos, scarf gar and agility pz i think timid is preferable.
:zapdos-galar: Bulk up gapdos is my first of the two defog punishers since i was noticing webs teams at the time were struggling with keeping webs up. Thunder Kick and Brave Bird are picked as reliable stabs with facade being using to have good damage output post burn from gweez.
:basculegion-f: Standard Basc set for webs, ghost type to block spin and weakness policy to punish cyclizar knock off.
:diancie: I wanted a secondary anti gapdos mesure as well as something that could threaten bisharp who is the worst mu for webs teams. Body press lets you do big damage or kill bisharp (after a bit of chip), diamond storm lets you hit talonflame as well as giving you a defense boost 50% of the time whilst earth power is used to round out the coverage. With tera fairy and moonblast diance can be suprisingly good as a breaker threatening 2hkos on most of the common stall pokes.
:Bisharp: Very standard bisharp webs set with low kick to beat other bisharp and tera fire to eat wisps.
:mamoswine: Lorb Mamo is a demon underwebs, this one has knock off and tera dark to beat slowbro and the uncommon bronzong.

Also would like to apologies that this entry is late i miss calculated the time that the voting would go live

voting for colorednaem, diancie may be the gapdos answer on webs i was looking for and on webs that don't do as well as this one, can also probably double as a mence answer, big fan
(go ahead heatranator, haha me because i only voted for one guy, i accept my destiny)

:sv/chansey: Week 10 Chansey :sv/chansey:
1748769218539.png

Chansey, the perennial blob pokemon. Chansey this gen has fallen off quite a bit, with it hating the hazards that are laid down in most battles and the multiple nerfs to its moveset such as losing wish, toxic and teleport. However, chansey is still very tanky, able to take on most special attackers in the tier very easily while possessing multiple useful utility moves such as stealth rocks, thunder wave and even the almost non exsistent heal bell. Chansey this gen finds itself primarily on stall teams, with its ability to hard wall a lot of special attackers being incredibly useful in a tier filled to the brim with offensive threats.
However, chansey is not simply a stall pokemon. It can find its way onto fat balance teams and even on offensive teams in the archetype called, you guessed it, chansey offense. These teams aim to use chansey as a defensive sponge to fall back on that can reliably set up stealth rocks and if the time comes, use healing wish to revive a teammate from the brink of destruction.
How will you build around this pink blob pokemon?

Submissions will be open until Friday, June 7th at 9am GMT+0

Chansey + LO Mew Offense

:chansey: :mew: :weezing-galar: :mamoswine: :noivern: :slither-wing:

:chansey: : Special wall and stealth rocker, tera dark is to block opposing psyshock/psychic noise/stored power from sweepers such as Reuniclus, Slowbro, Armarouge, Mew, etc.. T-wave threatens offensive pokemon from switching in freely, helping Mew out speed mons that stops its sweep. Max HP and Def EVs let Chansey soak up physical damage suprisingly well while also keeping its role as a special wall.

:mew: : Tera fairy complements Mew both defensively and offensively between flipping the bug/dark weakness and boosting draining kiss to 60 BP along with STAB. With 100/100/100 base defenses it is extremely hard to KO Mew along with draining kiss heals. You are most going to tera this mon in 90% of games.

:weezing-galar: : Hazard removal and physical wall, rocky helmet over leftovers to punish pivots from zapdos-galar and slither wing. Helps chip pokemon into mamoswine/slither wing range.

:mamoswine: : Adamant over jolly is chosen purely to do more dmg + boost ice shard rolls. Tera fire to avoid will-o-wisps and resist Jirachi iron head.

:noivern: : Noivern is here to bait bulky steel types in and click super fang to aid in a Mew sweep. Psychic noise is chosen to stop pokemon like Empoleon, Jirachi, Chansey, and etc. from recovering back HP, but taunt is also a viable option. It is also the best answer to SubTect Suicune which the team struggles against.

:slither-wing: : Standard boots set, aims to make progress by u-turning over and over while sniping low HP mons with first impression.
