========
Gliscor's bulk and longevity afford it many opportunities to set Stealth Rock, as even a 4x super effective Hidden Power Ice from Landorus-T can be healed off in a couple of turns. This sets it apart from the aforementioned Landorus-T, which is vulnerable to status and must rely on Leftovers to stay healthy. Earthquake is a consistent STAB move that also allows Gliscor to pressure two prominent Rapid Spin users, Excadrill and Tentacruel. U-turn allows Gliscor to make use of its great bulk and longevity to pivot in powerful yet vulnerable teammates such as Terrakion and Alakazam; while also hitting Psychic-types such as Latios for super effective damage and potentially pivoting in Tyranitar for a Pursuit trap. Alternatively, Knock Off can be used to remove items from common switch-ins to Gliscor such as Skarmory, Landorus-T, Reuniclus, and Rotom-W. Protect is mandatory on Gliscor to ensure that it always activates its Toxic Orb when lead; to scout common Choice-locked Pokemon such as Keldeo, Latios, Terrakion, and Landorus-T; and to let itself safely heal.
Set Details
========
Maximum HP and Special Defense with a Careful nature is to ensure Gliscor can survive two uses of Hidden Power Ice from Landorus-T if it uses a Protect and always survive a Specs-boosted Draco Meteor from Latios from full HP. This spread also ensures that Gliscor can survive one Hidden Power Ice from non-Life Orb Alakazam. Alternatively, a spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD with a Sassy nature and 0 IVs in Speed can be used to let Gliscor underspeed opposing Gliscor to ensure it always gets the slower U-turn and avoids a teammate that is pivoted in taking a Knock Off.
Team Options
========
This Gliscor's main archetype is sand balance with its great longevity and ability to pivot in wallbreakers safely. Keldeo, Terrakion, Mamoswine, and Alakazam all benefit greatly from Gliscor's slow U-turn letting them get in safely and deal with common Gliscor switch-ins such as Landorus-T, Ferrothorn, and Rotom-W respectively. Tyranitar is an amazing partner for Gliscor because it can deal with Latios and Reuniclus, which can turn Gliscor into setup fodder, as well as setting up sand which, combined with Gliscor's Knock Off can generate a lot of chip damage on non-sand immune Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Slowbro. Excadrill in particular benefits from Gliscor being able to remove Skarmory's item, be that Rocky Helmet or Leftovers, which allows Excadrill to more easily break it with Swords Dance or continuously use Rapid Spin against it. Gliscor's resistance to Fighting alongside its incredible longevity allows it to handle Terrakion, which can threaten to OHKO many staples on sand teams such as the previously mentioned Excadrill and Tyranitar with Close Combat. This makes it a go-to for any sand team that wants to go the distance, unlike its counterpart, Landorus-T, which is much more liable to being worn down by repeated attacks. Bulky setup sweepers such as Reuniclus appreciate Gliscor's ability to pivot into Knock Off after it has been poisoned by Toxic Orb; remove items from its checks such as Clefable, opposing Reuniclus, Slowking, and Skarmory; and supply Stealth Rock, which weakens Reuniclus's checks. In addition to forming a VoltTurn core with Magnezone, Gliscor can pivot against common switch-ins such as Ferrothorn and Skarmory so Magnezone can trap them, and Magnezone's resistance to Ice and usage of Sunny Day helps play around Choice Band Mamoswine and rain teams, respectively. Ferrothorn can set Spikes up and run Knock Off, meaning Gliscor can afford to use U-turn which can rack up a lot of chip damage with Spikes. Ferrothorn can also check Water-types, Mamoswine, and Latios for Gliscor, allowing it to stick around for the whole game. Celebi and Amoonguss serve a similar purpose, as they are also able to check bulky Water-types, provide paralysis support, and in Celebi's case, form a U-turn core.
