MONOTYPE WILDCARD

Monotype Wild Card is a unique format that allows the player to break Monotype's same-type clause by adding a single Pokemon of a different type. This can enable a variety of unique archetypes to become available such as Rain Flying with Archaludon, Sun Dragon, and many many more. Players will have the chance to explore the metagame and use their creativity to build new and exciting Wildcard teams!

These are the first teams I made for the roomtour I won the other day
Okidogi Screens Ghost
:Flutter-Mane: :Gholdengo: :Dragapult: :Brambleghast: :Sableye: :Okidogi:
https://pokepast.es/65db7de14f62123b
Screens Ghost was something I was a huge fan of at the start of the gen when Annihilape was legal. I wanted to try something relatively similar to what I made back then with Okidogi>Annihilape as a Bulk Up user and to help cover problematic dark mons. I think back then I had Skeledirge>Bramble but decided to go with Bramble for hazard control.

Moltres-Galar Fairy
:Flutter-Mane: :Iron-Valiant: :Azumarill: :Klefki: :Hatterene: :Moltres-Galar:

This ones just the sample + a moltres-g set, I figured screens in this tier are super good and was lazy.

Kyurem Poison
:okidogi: :Weezing-Galar: :Muk-Alola: :Toxapex: :Slowking-Galar: :Kyurem:
https://pokepast.es/76816d62c8d13e8d
I replaced Iron Moth on a team I had with Kyurem - providing a solution to help with fly + the dragon mus, but also having great synergy with Glowking's Chilly Reception.

I definitely want to explore some good mons that don't contribute much to monotype - think mons like Blastoise doesn't necessarily cover much or help for water, but is a powerful Shell Smash sweeper in it's own right, or Garganacl which is a top mon in OU that is held back by rock typing.

Also screens are super good, put brick break on shit.

Just curious, I understand dengo and pathra are strong af on other types. But may you guys elaborate a bit more on their bans? Typically quickbans come with arguments. Would be nice to demonstrate op combos they can pull off.

not gonna type an essay but ill give you some quick answers

espathra is famously limited by its terrible coverage and inability to get rid of dark- and steel-types easily. this is alleviated when you place it onto teams where those pokemon are not issues and can make way for espathra to clean house with stored power.

while gholdengo on the other hand is restricted for the immense defensive utility it brings to each type, even further limiting hazard removal, and overall just being able to send types with already great natural defense cores such as flying or bulky water into unmanageable territory. for that reason we decided to restrict it.

Team dump from council! Thank yall <3

Made this fun grass team, you can edit to your requirements. H-Liligant can use sleep powder to hinder foes or Solar Blade too as Grass Terrain and high bp goes hard. To sum up the team Ninetales and Grass have awesome synergy. Chlorophyll allows liligant outspeeds almost anything so having an adamant nature doesnt bring it down with L orb further boosting damage. Ivy Cudgel hits intensely hard in Sun. Arboliva is great tank which can be pain to take out and can easily serve as a switch to pivot in liligant. Amoonguss puts foes to sleep reliably and troubles set up sweepers with Foul Play. Brambleghast provides Flying immunity and clears up hazards as well as setting them up. Hope you enjoy this little team. I will be uploading more as well.

Wildcard samples that are outdated will be updated accordingly and posted upon release. Gouging Fire is banned so any Dragon or Fire teams that are still up and running for samples will need to be changed accordingly.

As an Ice player, wild card lets me explore the different possibilities and choices i can run to counteract ice's biggest challenges.

Steel and bug have always been major issues for ice, so major in fact that the matchup is a guaranteed loss.

My solution with wild card?

'Bulk' offensive ice ft. Corv
https://pokepast.es/6e8b6599d4e4a694

Why Corviknight?
Corv replaces avalugg as the defensive wall and hazard removal. Providing neutrality to fighting and resistance to steel, aswell as a far more reliable hazard removal with defog and its typing. Corv proves itself valuable as a slot.

In addition, dewgong takes up a slot removing a damage dealer to provide the team with a more bulky and balanced approach compared to ice's usual hyper offensiveness.

Corv exists as a defensive tank against fighting and steel while dewgong exists as a defensive tank against fire. Making three of ice's inherent weaknesses more tolerable.

Offensive ice ft. Heatran
https://pokepast.es/ab13b88ce51ea547

Why Heatran?
Heatran replaces your typical mamoswine (or rare) piloswine slot.
Mamoswine exists to give ice a solid typing and offensive coverage for steel and fire.
Adding heatran adds an incredible fire immunity to ice while making your steel weakness seem like nothing with heatrans 4x resistance.
Heatran also provides great offensive pressure to opposing steel and bug teams which are ice's biggest threat.

I opted for a more offensive heatran build rather than bulky to keep up with the rest of the team in nature as heatrans typing alone and respectable bulk give the option to run heatran in a more offensive manner than bulky.

Hyper offensive ice ft. Keldeo
https://pokepast.es/248b2ea1db6b481f

Why Keldeo?
Keldeo has always been a formidable threat and great heavy hitter with a good typing.
Having Keldeo allows you to keep a fast, extremely offensive team that ice usually likes to take advantage of.
Keldeos typing provides two important things. Steel resistance and fighting STAB. Keldeo in this instance is here to massively help your chances vs steel and bug.
I personally built Keldeo with a scarf in mind to keep the team fast and always keeping pressure. However, you can opt out for a set up build with calm mind and substitute.

I hope these get put to good use :)

Recently there has been a rise in ho ghost with sash smeargle lead running webs+spore. This is huge pain as the only counters to the lead are multi hit moves/ flinches to stop it from webbing.
Having access to 5 spinblocking mons including ghold with strong offense enables it to beat most teams by turn 10 as spectrier with webs can run specs and sweep the game in a few turns. Running dark types and something immune to spore is almost required to beat the team
