Time for the classic king of Ubers to get its due!

[SET]
Choice Item (Kyogre) @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest nature
IVs: 0 Atk
Tera Type: Water
- Water Spout
- Surf / Origin Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Thunder

[SET COMMENTS]

* While top Restricted Pokemon like Miraidon and Koraidon are big issues for Kyogre, the sheer damage output under Drizzle still makes it a force to be reckoned with, especially when Water Spout is at full power!

* **Surf versus Origin Pulse**: Surf is the most reliable STAB move Kyogre has to offer, but Origin Pulse's higher Base Power lets Kyogre OHKO Calyrex-S after Stealth Rock damage.

* **Ice Beam**: Ice Beam is essential for punishing Koraidon switching in, as it otherwise shuts down Kyogre.

* **Thunder**: Thunder is Kyogre's best coverage against Water-types, ensuring it isn't walled by foes like Ogerpon-W and opposing Kyogre.

* **Choice Scarf with Timid versus Choice Specs with Modest**: Choice Scarf transforms Kyogre into a strong revenge killer and ferocious cleaner in one package, with a Timid nature ensuring that it outspeeds even Calyrex-S. Choice Specs with a Modest nature trades cleaning for being extremely difficult to wall, with even Blissey risking a 2HKO from Water Spout! Ice Beam will also now OHKO offensive Koraidon.

Tera Types
=======

* **Tera Dependency - Low**: Kyogre already has a fantastic offensive and defensive typing, so Terastallization is more of a bonus than a necessity.

* **Water**: Tera Water brings Kyogre's wallbreaking potential to the next level, with even Choice Scarf Kyogre now being able to 2HKO Blissey with Water Spout and Choice Specs Kyogre being able to 2HKO even the bulkiest of Assault Vest Alomomola with Water Spout.

* **Fairy**: Tera Fairy puts Koraidon in a tough spot, with the rain weakening all of its offensive tools. This is usually best left for bulkier Kyogre sets to take advantage of, though.

[SET]
Assault Vest (Kyogre) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest nature
Tera Type: Electric / Fairy
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf / Origin Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Tera Blast / Water Spout

* Kyogre's fantastic special bulk makes it a good choice for an Assault Vest tank.

* **Surf versus Origin Pulse**: The reliability of Surf makes it the best choice, but Origin Pulse OHKOing Calyrex-S after Stealth Rock damage does make it a reasonable but riskier alternative.

* **Ice Beam**: Ice Beam provides essential coverage against Kyogre's archnemesis, Koraidon! It's also key for taking on other Dragon-types such as Dragonite and Miraidon.

* **Thunder**: Thunder lets Kyogre zap opposing Water-types such as Tera Water Calyrex-I and opposing Kyogre. Plus, this set's good bulk gives Kyogre many chances to benefit from the 30% paralysis chance.

* **Tera Blast Fairy versus Water Spout**: If Kyogre is using Tera Fairy, Tera Blast lets it ruin Koraidon, which alone is worth a moveslot! However, if it's using Tera Water or alternate gameplans against Koraidon, Water Spout deals absurd damage to anything slower than Kyogre.

Tera Types
======

* **Tera Dependency - Medium**: Water is a fantastic typing that Kyogre often doesn't want to lose, but Terastallization can be key for dealing with Koraidon and Miraidon.

* **Fairy**: Tera Fairy is the best defensive option for Kyogre, letting it resist all of Koraidon's common attacks thanks to rain support and ruining Miraidon's attempts at checking it.

* **Electric**: Tera Electric lets Kyogre tank Miradon's Electro Drift, in addition to ensuring paralysis support from the likes of Flutter Mane and Archaludon fails. Just note that most Ho-Oh run Earthquake, which means Tera Electric isn't a perfect response to its Brave Bird.

* **Water**: This Kyogre is usually best off with defensive Tera types, but Tera Water's absurd damage output lets Water Spout 2HKO even Blissey, making it a better option against stall teams.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Rain Teammates
========

Rain isn't nearly as dominant of a weather as sun, but enough teammates benefit from it that Kyogre doesn't have to use it selfishly

* **Koraidon**: Using Koraidon with Kyogre may seem like a total paradox, but together, their partnership ensures that both can comfortably reset their weather cycles.

* **Urshifu-R**: Urshifu-R's souped-up Surging Strikes are terrifying, transforming Choice Scarf Urshifu-R into a powerful revenge killer that almost always OHKOes Calyrex-S! Its wallbreaking powers are impressive too, with Choice Band Surging Strikes in the rain 2HKOing even maximum HP Miraidon.

* **Ogerpon-W**: Ogerpon-W doesn't share any of Kyogre's weaknesses beyond Freeze-Dry, making it a good bulkier rain beneficiary that still has plenty of power. Ogerpon-W also has Play Rough, ensuring that Koraidon switch-ins are not entirely safe.

* **Archaludon**: Electro Shot's lack of a charge turn in the rain makes Archaludon a fearsome bulky sweeper, especially since Stamina and Body Press combine to help against Blissey and Ting-Lu before Archaludon Terastallizes.

Hi. Kyogre gets an even HP w/ 4 evs, best to go 4 def(slight cut on ohko from jolly non cb Koraidon cc/outrage,) or 4 SpD(slight cut on 252 SpA parabolic charge from non tera/specs miraidon.) There would be more on either side you can get, but those are BSS bigwigs(not the moves, but the main thig is odd HP for residual damage.) There is 0 reason to make it more compliated by explaining why not 4 HP, but imo it should be def or SpD. Idk, hope that helps. Will cm get a set? I know it's cool not to do every single set I'm not badgering you, just curious if it's good as my pokemon home will no longer load battle data, kinda irritating:(

EDIT: Can't find ANY restricted calc to favor Def or SpD, really. But it does look like 4 HP is never better...also can't think of any good non restricted to calc that I didn't already(raging bolt w/ BE 252+ is already golden, 4 SpD or no.)

Yeah I've been having the same debate myself with Kyogre, its just been 4 HP for now because I'm deciding that as probably the final thing before the full write-up is done lol.

As for CM: Not right now, actually Rocky Helmet Kyogre has more priority, which still often has CM but the focus is on a more defensive Kyogre. I don't have any experience with that though so I'll be adding it to the reservation list!

Finally got my allergies under control enough to Pokemon again, got this ready! Just two things to note:

- Sorry, I don't got any experience with the CM and Rocky Helmet stuff!

- I added a teammates section. Urshifu-R and Ogerpon-W are to be expected, but the reason why I brought up the uncommon Basculegion is because it keeps popping up in Kyogre's top 10 teammates despite its low usage, so I figure we should talk about it, otherwise people are gonna ask about it over and over again!

Will check in a bit

Only thing I got is to mention Archaludon in the teammates section. Rain allowing it to make use of Electro Shot to become a very resilient wallbreaker via Stamina in addition to not caring about the likes of blissey and tinglu via boosted body press makes it quite a formidable partner for locking down endgames.
apart from that consider this QC APPROVED!

If you are talking abt Arch tera I would replace "it" with Archaludon for clarity

* **Basculegion**: Basculegion is a rather niche Pokemon, but its it's among the strongest Swift Swimmers Swim sweepers in the game. Compared to other Swift Swim Pokemon, Last Respects gives Basculegion serious late-game cleaning potential.

Sheesh, sorry that took so long, my life really fell apart there for a while and I totally forgot about this!

So reason I put this in quality control is just because I need a QC member to check the 3 Major Changes I made for Regulation I. They are:

* I slashed Tera Electric in on AV, it's not an uncommon Tera Type!

* I removed Basculegion, who I feel is totally irrelevant in the metagame right now.

* I added Koraidon as a teammate, which I know may seem odd but it makes sense in context!

All the changes are in bold text, its not a lot because the 2 Kyogre sets here act mostly the same as they did in Reg G TBH.

Only thing is we def need a Defensive Kyogre set (the one with Rocky Helmet / Jaboca Berry), but I don't have enough experience with that one yet. These two sets are def still around at least even if the defensive set seems to be the most common atm!

My grandma died just around the time I last posted in this, so sorry I never got this back to GP!

GP Team
My condolences for your loss.

Note that because this was tagged as done in the GP queue before, repinging the GP Team bot won't re-add it back to the queue. For future analyses where you need another check, I suggest posting in the #gp-check-requests channel of the GP Discord server.

(Prose-wise, I think "reasonable but riskier" sounds better here; with how the sentence is written, it sounds like you're saying choosing Origin Pulse is justifiable due to its higher power. Putting "riskier" first sounds like you're downplaying the potential of the move, especially after highlighting its KO potential.)

Other legendary Pokemon like Groudon and (background-wise) Lugia can fill in the same titles you use for these Pokemon, and the mention of their weathers is already handled with the end of this sentence.) may seem like a total paradox, but together, Koraidon and Kyogre's (change this to "their" if you decide to implement my suggestion) partnership ensures that both can comfortably reset their weather cycles.
