OU RBY OU Viability Rankings

i think persian is viable but it is harder to use now, laxes r more often dropped or booming, gar is very common, zap matchups r unfavorable...

it's main building niche to me is as an extremely favorable matchup vs rhydon teams (and cloydon included if it bolts as mentioned above^). i also appreciate the fact that it's pretty much the only mon that outspeeds tauros and reliably 2hkos chansey, so it's easier to force kills in the endgame with sometimes than things like mie/zam.

i will also say that not being able to have an actual variable crit chance sucks compared to jolt bull zap etc, so it's base slash is great but it unfortunately lacks the 20% bonus odds some other mons get over time.

In terms of cutoff, the RBY Council has decided to ask submitters to vote for whether Jolteon should be in OU or UU.

Hello everyone,

After processing the Viability Rankings submissions by the qualified rankers, the council decided to hold a vote on whether the cutoff point for OU should be before C1 (with Jolteon going to UU) or after C1 (with Jolteon staying OU). The vote was conducted among the same 31 players who qualified as rankers for the Viability Rankings, with the majority vote determining the final outcome.

The results obtained determine that, with 12 votes in support, 5 votes against, and 14 abstentions, the RBY OU/UU cutoff was deemed to be after C1.

Therefore,
  1. considering the Viability Rankings derived from the qualified rankers' submissions,
  2. considering the expressed preferences on the appropriate cutoff point as determined by the qualified voters,
  3. respecting the wishes and sentiments of the RBY OU community, and
  4. acting in representation of the RBY OU council,
I announce that Jolteon remains in OU, Slowbro moves to UU, and Victreebel to NU.

Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who submitted their Viability Rankings, participated in the vote, contributed to the discussion in this thread, and, most importantly, to the entire RBY OU community—whose continued passion for a generation released nearly 30 years ago truly remains both impressive and inspiring.

Tagging Marty and dhelmise to implement these changes.

In fact we are so back with this. Wont matter vs profesionals but inexpert RBY players will stop taking Victreebel into account when building. Their Surf + Tbolt Starmies and Rhydons are about to find out what that means.

I get that, but my boy is probably gonna fall all the way to PU now. While that doesn’t really affect anything in OU, it still kinda sucks.
