So my girlfriend was a US army medic and was stationed in Kuwait for around 6-7 months in 2021-2022. Her friend Leif, whom she was stationed with, was a college swimmer before joining the army. Leif got invited to a swimming competition and brought my girl friend (a notoriously bad swimmer) to take part in a relay. The Mens Kuwaiti Olympic team was also there competing. I should mention that the prize was a medal and it was all just for good fun.

Anyway Leif and my girlfriend paired up with two other people on base who were average-proficient swimmers and participated in said relay. They ended up placing 2nd right behind the Kuwaiti Olympic team but Leif ended up winning a separate award for fastest overall time. She destroyed the Kuwaiti team in the water. My girl friend anchored the race while Leif was the starter. This means its largely my girlfriend's fault they placed 2nd.

So from this I've learned a few things.
1: Middle Easterns are not particularly fast swimmers
2: Kuwait has an Olympic team
3: My girl friend sucks at swimming
 
there's mandatory military service in my country, unless you sign a piece of paper that says that you refuse the service for ideological reasons. If you go to the military, it's 6 months with miserable pay, but you get fed and housed in these 6 months. If you sign the waiver, you need to do 9 months of civilian services (usually working in ambulance wagons, but any social work counts too), get payment that's a little better and are barred from getting weapons for 10 years

I did the civilian services, all I did was go to the military assessment. I was top cut until I failed the intelligence test, was threatened with military imprisonment for leaving early the first of the two days (I needed to sign some paper before going but someone told me I can go home) and got food poisoning from the cafeteria food. I was lucky however with the body inspection, the doctor that looked at me just had me walk in front of him in my underwear. The other guys I went there got body visitations from an elderly physician with cold hands

Anyways I was fit for the military but I didn't wanna go to the military because that shit sounded dumb so I completed my civilian services at an asylum. It was very nice work tbh, I liked it a lot. Funnily enough, I got diagnosed with depression and anxiety and OCD during my civilian service time, which would've made me unfit for the military, so I could've just saved the time

Fucked that they would make a dog serve in the military :/ dog serving in the psyche ward is dope though
