Tournament DFL II - Commencement Thread

Little bummed to be writing this now instead of 2 weeks from now but, I'm glad I managed this tour. Was a nice experience to try managing a non-draft creation tour for the first time since 2019. I'm aware these kinda posts aren't commonplace in the Draft scene but I enjoy writing and I had a great time this season. Do I wish we'd managed to scrape 1 more win in any of weeks 1/3/4/5? Yeah absolutely, I'd love to still be in the tour but that's life.
Tinkatwink you've yet to play your last game (I know you'll win though <3) but either way, I don't think I could've asked for more from you this season when it came to your games. A clean 5-0 record says it all, even if you did give me 3 anxiety attacks a week to get there. I knew you were still a great player and I'm glad my faith in you was well placed hun, sorry we couldn't back up your play and I really hope you'll get chances in the bigger tours again some day.
vmnunes, you're one of my longest standing friends end of at this point and everyone knew I'd be willing to spend extra on you, but tbh I still think you were an underpay LOL. Putting up a great record in a slot that I didn't want to touch with a ten foot pole (even if I did mock it from time to time) was such a relief, I really do hope you're picked up in DCL/DPL again, you've got the talent without a doubt.
Vergi10 Ngl I'm still confused why you went for 12.5k. I've mentioned it before but in no world did I expect we'd be able to get you because I just assumed you'd go for 20k+ after your run last year. I'm glad we managed to find you a draft that works, even if it was a little too late in the season, the Zarude might have been a mistake. Was great teaming with you, similar to the others it was nice to have a self sufficient slot and once we had the draft that worked for you, it was smooth sailing. Still super appreciative of you subbing in last minute W1 too <3.
Quin4949 you were in the teamcord pre-auction and you also remember my shock that we got you for as cheap as we did. While a 3-4 record doesn't seem the best, with one being a last minute substitute, I'm really grateful that you were willing to pilot a draft that you were first sceptical of, if only we'd brought Bisharp more often, maybe then we would've won :(. I know you had your struggles in the early weeks when it came to prep but I'm glad they ironed out as the tour went on. Every single one of your games was close and I'm glad we got to team again.
lavaskull100 After week 1, I definitely had my doubts about you, won't deny that for a second. 6 weeks later and you've proven that I was absolutely wrong about that, all it took was giving you a draft you're comfortable with and the results came in. You've played great the past two weeks and I've appreciated you chipping in weekly from the bench too. I hope you get another chance in team tours in the future, definitely a great pickup.
Rasche I've had the pleasure of managing you before in DLWC and tbh, it was a great time here too. Tornadus-T in your hands is always gonna do great is what I've realised and while some games did go a little awry, I'm still glad to have had you on the team chief. I do wish we had the time to iron out some issues more often each week but life gets in the way and it be like that.
yuki we went into the season with a game plan, to keep you and takuaa in VGC jail. Sadly it didn't work out due to life being life but that's alright, I'm glad you were able to put up wins where needed chief - I will say you put me through all the stages of shock last week when you said you'd played without linking, only to have won lmao. Hopefully next time we can team when you're less busy because I know you've got the talent to do well.
FSF Iceik my saviour. Ben you've been fantastic this season, both as a support from the bench but also when playing. Your willingness to work through what was frankly an outright abysmal matchup week 3, in a tier you've barely played, was already great, let alone the fact that you managed to pull through with a win. We both know that 1-2 record is one crit away from being flipped and I do hope you don't take it to heart, you've been a great teammate and I know you'll do well for whoever manages you next.
Isa I appreciated having you around, I get you were busy throughout a lot of the season, but you subbing in week 2 was appreciated even if we couldn't see that game through. Hopefully we get to play more STS again together too, was fun.
huuh Max I hope you don't let this season get to you too much, you've still got great individual results and even if this season didn't go the way you expected, I hope to see you around in the future. You're a good player and I wouldn't be surprised to see you top cut multiple more seasonals in the future, let alone win one.

Chip you helped hold down the ORAS fort; zomb you were great with giving us mocks; Zooch I'm SO grateful for your help with the Torn draft (even if we unashamedly stole your draft :D), literal guidelines on how to play every lead are beyond what I'd ever expect lmao; Hopeless you literally did all our prep more than once LOL - goat behaviour; Hannah you were great in helping Mia in USUM as well as being a great positive presence, love you hun; Freddie man do I regret not picking you up lmao, was awesome to have the support in VGC; TDG you literally joined the teamcord last week and I think I can directly attribute 2 of our wins this week to your prep LOL, fucking NASCAR Guzzlord; Allo we didn't speak much but the help for takuaa was appreciated; Cherry I'm also annoyed we didn't get you, you helped Quin every week as well as being a rly chill guy to talk to, glad to get to know you. I'm just super grateful for all of y'all for helping us get us as close to the finish line as we did.
2playaLuffy my ghost manager <3. Fr though Kyle, I appreciated having you around since takuaa and I collectively had very little experience when it came to managing auction tours. You were a great help both before and during the season and I appreciate it immensely.
takuaa on that note, thank you for managing with me lmao. I've wanted to for a while now because I love the team environment but hate the stress, I just couldn't find someone who'd be the right fit. While your personal record this tour wasn't exactly what you wanted, I do hope you realise you're definitely an up and coming talent in the ORAS pool. I'm really grateful that you were willing to manage with me and honestly I'd be down to run it back next year if you are. Had a blast week in week out (okay maybeeeee not week 4...) and I'm glad you were able to be there with me for it. Please do calc more though... it would go a long way...
urban and you're last. I'll be frank I've thought about writing this for the entirety of this week and I'm not quite sure what to say. takuaa and I had our eyes on you from frame one, we both believed you'd be one of the best in the SV pool, and the 16k price tag shows that. I've seen more than enough comments from people about a 16k 0-3 slot being dire but honestly, I don't think I could disagree more. You were far and away the most active player on the team from frame one, being in every draft channel offering thoughts. When week 1 came around you'd knocked out mocks for all the singles slots by Tuesday if memory serves me correctly, and this attitude didn't let up. You were always down to mock. help build or review games whenever people asked, and I think that's invaluable. The only thing that stopped you was your irl literally getting in the way and even then you still tried your best. Do I wish you could've put up a better record? Yeah, I do. I can't for a second say I'm upset with you though and I'd happily pay that price again for you. To any DCL managers reading this, this man is everything you'd want from a supportive slot, whether he's playing himself or on the bench.
To all of y'all, I hope I did a good job as a manager; I'd like to think I did but it's easy to look past my own shortcomings this tour too. I definitely learned a lot about how to approach different players differently, god knows I am not getting a word out of some of y'all before Friday, and that's okay tbh. Everyone preps differently and I'd like to think I did my best to cater to everyone. I had a great time and I hope y'all did too.
