Project SV OU Teambuilding Competition (Indigo Disk Edition) (Week 20: Tornadus Therian)

Week 19: OU’s Greatest Hit

Normal.png
By popular demand(bribery from anonymous sources), Great Tusk is our next Mon of the Week. A staple of the OU meta since launch, this funny elephant has a massive trusk fund to burn his money on. So get your record players spinning and teambuilding skills ready because this week is practically a free-for-all. You all know what this silly guy does, so I expect good teams.

Deadline: Treat it like the deadline is on June 8th, but until we say it’s over, you can still submit.

A team I made in a fugue state the past week, basically the highlight isn't on Tusk (although we can't play without him in this team cause he's a reliable fellow), but scarf Revavroom. Yes, scarf Rev. Basically I was experimenting on a fast parting shot 'mon and figured he'd fit on a team that has bulky 'mons and made use of the fact that he can kill fairies like no other 'mon could... not Tink though but it'd be funny to give her scarf. Not scarf Enamorus either. Man, this thing is kind of bad at its job lmao.

Team Info
:alomomola: :tornadus-therian: :revavroom:
The pivot trio, jolly scarf Rev outspeeds Pult who's commonly running mixed but can go either extremes so he can help scout the set through a parting shot into either Mola, Torn or even Ttar to soften the blow even on incorrect guesses. standard wishpass Mola set for the heal support and standard av Torn set for his special bulk and access to a faster pivot which helps against Wogers.

:tyranitar: :great-tusk:
Hazard pair, Ttar uses the standard defensive set. he also provides a way to making things pretty annoying with the sand chip on top of the rocks damage. Tusk is on an offensive utility set with close combat because we can very much afford it with two knock off users in Ttar+Torn.

:iron-valiant:
Specs Valiant, can mindlessly click moves and defer to the rest of the team for a little trolling of the regen+wish shuffling variety.

No mid or high-level replays cause playing with a heavily modified gas guzzling engine takes your ELO from mid 1400s to 1000s real quick and I'm still very much a newbie but for everyone's entertainment here's two highlight replays

This team is interesting and it uses tusk with spike stack, I feel tusk is a great abuser of hazards and with knock can slam a lot of fat teams who rely on boots and with darkrai, pecha, wellspring i think the MU vs offense is ok and in addition ting lu is quite god at covering great tusk lack of defense investment

Don't build sv much but decided to try my hand at it. Tusk spins and checks kgb. Tink is there to check most krai variants. Hsam + tink form the teams hstack core with pecha acting as spin blocker. Dnite was added to act as teams fire-water resistance and breaker. Crown provides immediate damage with specs

Week 20: The genie of the winds
:sv/tornadus therian:

Tornadus therian has seen an explosion of usage in tournaments recently, standing out as a top tier defensive pokemon that can be very annoying to switch into (when its moves hit ofc). Standard boots pivot sets are its bread and butter, with its ability to use knock off against switch-ins such as glowking, and then pivoting out with u-turn. Its not the bulkiest pokemon in the world, but it can usually stomach a few hits and respond offensively. Assault vest sets have been a thing since XY, being able to easily take special hits and respond with their own pressure. They do have a crippling weakness to Stealth Rocks, but with hazard support, this set can shine. Finally, Nasty Plot sets with Life Orb have popped up recently, with its ability to destroy typical balance cores by using coverage such as Grass Knot to hit Pokemon such as Ting Lu extremely hard. How wil you build around this inconsistent wind genie?
Deadline is July 28 2025 (which means you have one week to build).
Good luck builders

An old variation of a team that im planning for the future.
1753082444808.png
is here specifically for its blend of speed utility and pivoting. i decided outspeeding
1753082514779.png
was good enough given that it also outspeeds stuff like
1753082363309.png
. taunt was nice here for
1753082572007.png
1753082595679.png
1753082602484.png
, so theres less pressure for
1753082353739.png
to spin as much.
