Tournament CAPPL XI - Commencement Thread

One day, my beloved...

Figured I would make a shoutout post for everyone on the Skwovets since we are now out of the tournament. I'm very happy with how we performed this tournament overall and I'm very glad we were able to even make playoffs after having a pretty disastrous season last year. This has been a fairly rough time for me on Smogon overall due to a lot of disagreements with other users and external factors from my personal life, and I've been close to leaving all together quite a few times as of late, and us making it this far has reignited some of the lost passion I have for this game as whole.

Overall, this is one of the few teams I've been on where it felt like everyone contributed a solid amount to the team. I would definitely consider picking all of you up again should I have plans to manage again in the future.

Baddy - Hands down, you were the MVP of the team. Going 8-0 is no easy feat at all, especially given that your bracket had quite a few tough opponents in it, and I very much appreciate your help with the other SV slots during the later weeks and taking on the role of a temporary manager when I needed to step away during Week 6. It's pretty unfortunate that you weren't picked to manage this year, I'm confident that you would have done extremely well, and I would definitely advocate for your inclusion next year should you choose to sign up.

Irene - Looking back on it, if there's one thing I feel like I should have done differently this tour, it would be how I handled players not being able to make it to there games, which mostly involves you. While I still very much think that making sure your games is a very important factor in tournaments, especially in team tours, I think I was a bit too strict and impulsive regarding how I handled you missing your games, and for I want to spend this segment to apologize to you for that. This being said, this definitely wasn't the best tournament for you, but I do appreciate you trying your best during your games.

Quinn - You and Baddy were goats in SV and were the primary reason we managed to even make it so far in this tournament to begin with. Hell, you've gone 2-for-2 for being a huge asset to whatever team I'm on in CAP Team Tours, and I very much appreciated teaming with you these past two tours despite the ping spam... .Like I said with Baddy, I would very much be interested to see you manage in a future tournament in a CAP Team Tournament, as I'm confident that you would do very well, and I wish you the best of luck for being picked to manage in SCL this year.

pannu - Believe it or not, but I actually think that you were the greatest asset to the team overall outside of Baddy. People really sleep on your abilities in SM CAP, and I very much appreciated your contributions to our other slots as well, especially ORAS CAP, where we probably would have been up shit creek without a paddle if not for your support. You're honestly a much better asset to any team in this metagame than people give you credit for, and I very much think that you don't really get enough credit.

entrocefalo - This unfortunately wasn't the greatest tour for you, but I definitely still value your abilities quite well as a player, and just had many things really now go your way this tournament. I do appreciate your feedback on many of the teams I loaded you this tournament and your ability to navigate some fairly tough matchups this tournament.

crying - We definitely took a big risk picking you up for so much in the draft, and while you didn't have the greatest start, I do think that as time went on and we started passing better builds you became the force to be reckoned with that everyone was expecting going into the tournament. I think that if our support in this slot didn't take a bit to get everything together, you would have very easily gone undefeated in this tournament just like you did in DPPL.

Ainzcrad - Admittedly I was a bit weary on drafting you at first given we already had crying at this point in the draft and that you said you would be busy and wouldn't be playing DPP CAP. You 100% proved my doubts wrong though, and I'm very thankful for all of your contributions to our DPP Slot, as with your help we turned our DPP CAP slot from one of our weaker ones to one of our stronger ones quite fast. Hopefully your schedule aligns better with CAPPL next year, as I would really like to see how well you would personally do in the tournament.

The Strap - Unfortunately this wasn't really your tour, as I sort of forced you into a metagame you weren't super familiar with prior that had a fairly strong pool in it too boot. Still, you did fairly decently considering that the cards were stacked against you, and I enjoyed your presence on the team overall.

seraphz - You had a huge breakout this tournament, managing to go positive in a metagame you had very little prior experience with, and I'm still both shocked and glad we were able to pick you up, especially for such a small price. You'll definitely be considered for a retain should I choose to manage again next year.

RADU - Unfortunately I didn't really give you too many chances to really do much this tournament, with your only real chances to play being a sub-in and a risk I took in playoffs that didn't really end up panning out well. That being said, what support you were able to provide was still valuable, and greatly helped us out during the early weeks.

Ineros - I know this wasn't the best tournament for you (At least in SV, you actually did fairly well the few weeks we put you in SM), but I do very much appreciate all of the effort that you put into this tournament, and your willingness to be put into any slot at seemingly a moment's notice.

reachzero - You were a surprisingly very strong asset for DPP, and I'm glad I was able to convince you to sign-up for this tournament. Despite being a decade and a half older than me and being semi-retired, you still have a fair amount of enthusiasm for this game, and I would really love to see this keep up and to see you play in future tournaments.

Gekokeso - I very much appreciate your willingness to engage with tests with me at seemingly a moment's notice, and your overall presence on the team definitely helped keep things more alive during some of the more dull moments of the tournaments. Also, you were probably the funniest user on our team, and I wish to continue hearing about your shenanigans.

Concept - This has been our third time managing a team together, and while we haven't managed to replicate our success from almost two years ago back in CAPCL III, I still very much appreciate managing together with you, as I consider you one of my best friends on this website. I know you weren't super active this tournament, but you still showed up and helped me out when the team needed you the most, which is something I am also very grateful for. If you want to manage again in a future CAP Tournament, don't feel like a strange if you want to ask me to manage with you again.

Also would like to give a quick shout-out to the following users who acted as helpers during Semi-Finals: jackuzzler Potatochan TGA Shock3600 Joeshh

One last thing, can we please ban King's Rock from ORAS CAP? I'm already sick of seeing Cloyster HO haxing its way to victory.
