Diplomacy Overpopulated Diplomacy - GAME OVER (3-way draw)

Fall 1912 Moves
Further progress in the east, but no breakthrough for Italy on the critical Mediterranean front! In other news, just one more year left before our game length record is broken!

SUPPLY CENTER CHANGES:
France
has not gained or lost any supply centers this year (6 SCs, no adjustments)
Germany has gained control of Liverpool and disbanded a unit this year, but lost control of Sevastopol (14 SCs, +1 build)
Italy has gained control of Sevastopol (15 SCs, +1 build)

England has lost control of Liverpool, and is eliminated from the game. Bull Of Heaven I know the more recent years of your game have been pretty boring, but I think you had a really solid run for your first time with Diplomacy. I really hope you'll stick with us to have even more fun in future games.

It is now Winter 1912. Powers should submit adjustments to me ASAP.

GAME OVER! 3-way draw between France, Germany and Italy!
Goodness, that was a long one! Lots of twists and turns, big backstabs, and multiple solo threats have led us to this result. While adding four new countries (and a new SC) proved to be quite fun and chaotic, it seems that you can't beat the old favorites from the Classic map; all of the new Powers were eliminated. Congrats to all of our survivors for making it all the way, and congrats to Blazade for ending with the most centers!

FINAL SUPPLY CENTER COUNTS:
Blazade as Italy: 15 SCs (survived to the draw, board top)
LonelyNess as Germany: 14 SCs (survived to the draw)
Alice Kazumi as France: 6 SCs (survived to the draw)
Bull Of Heaven as England: Eliminated in 1912 (peak SC count: 4)
sunny004 as Balkans: Eliminated in 1911 (peak SC count: 9)
M2H as Turkey: Eliminated in 1906 (peak SC count: 3)
Lechen as Russia: Eliminated in 1905 (peak SC count: 5)
Drookez as Benelux: Eliminated in 1904 (peak SC count: 3)
ElectricityCat as Norway: Eliminated in 1904 (peak SC count: 3)
Dead by Daylight as Spain: Eliminated in 1903 (peak SC count: 3)
pulsar512b as Austria: Eliminated in 1902 (peak SC count: 3)

Thanks so much to everyone who participated and made this game as exciting as it was. I'm aware that some people disliked the idea of me running this map, but I think it provided a solid return and even drew in a couple of new players to boot. The collapse of the Italy-Balkans alliance (which I thought was somewhat unnecessary tbh) definitely set the tone for the rest of the game, with Germany attempting to gain position on France to keep up, and LN/Blazade trying to inch towards a solo position without drawing too much attention. While neither could snag the ultimate prize in the end, with LN trying to grow in too many places at once and Blazade failing to find a path across the stalemate line, both of them played admirably and other players can learn a fair bit from their example. Blazade This game isn't for everyone, it can take a unique toll on you mentally, but please stop beating yourself up about everything. It's painful to see someone perform so well, and yet doubt his own decisions so much. It reminds me a lot of myself, and that's quite a sad thing to be compared to!

Our next game will be a full-blown variant map that will not be compatible with Backstabbr. Although it only supports seven players, I hope to garner enough interest to split the game into two boards based on the players' experience levels. There have been some issues with getting the technical setup to run a game of it, though, so I might not post it for a few days. Please be patient.

I will try to be kinder to myself. When I joined this game I was doing alright and then a few weeks in I got hit with a few larger irl stresses again. This year's just been absolute garbage.

The game was good and I appreciate the hosting. I especially appreciate that it reached a more natural conclusion this time. I will keep watching and I'll play again at some point, but it isn't easy for me when I feel like shit for other reasons.

Ggs, everyone. Happy to do my part by subbing in to preserve the spirit of the game as much as possible.

My moves immediately pre-stab were motivated in no small part by apathy; I very much wanted to do a 4-way draw, but I knew in the position that I was likely to be the one on the chopping block. I think a more rational me would have kept a more airtight line against Italy instead of pivoting completely against Germany, but I think that would have also led to my demise (and a German board top instead of Italy)

Blazade I, too, think that you are beating yourself up too much. You played a very good game, especially considering that I was a wild card subbing in. So personal circumstances notwithstanding I think this is a game you can be proud of in the end.

My one major critique for this variant is that I think it should be build anywhere. Say what you will about the classic map, but I feel as if the home SCs are relatively balanced. By playing a country that is essentially ALWAYS on the front line, I felt as if I was playing a worse Austria all game. This was mainly due to my inability to properly build and the fact that I was pretty much always surrounded. But then again, Austria is my least played power, so this could just be the Austria experience.

Ggs again!
