Metagame Frantic Fusions | Survey @ Post #484!

I think I've played a couple hundred games on ladder this month; I have several accounts at 1500 or above.

The council is probably in an annoying position, as I see it:
1. OM councils view their job (appropriately) as developing and maintaining a fair and competitive tier.
2. Players are demanding a more fun tier, even if the current tier isn't uncompetitive.
3. You've gotta ask, at what point does this tier just become AAA 2?

I'm not running a single Regenerator Pokemon, and I'm getting wins with fun sets; you certainly don't need Regenerator to win.

On the other hand, I am running some teams with duplicate abilities, like Mold Breaker or Levitate. I don't think these duplicate abilities are overpowered or uncompetitive, so I don't see 1AC as a good choice from the competitive standpoint, and I think 1AC brings the tier too close to AAA.

2AC seems like a fine midground from my experience.

I could see a Regenerator ban as an interesting alternative to maintain a fun tier that is distinct from AAA, though I don't have evidence to advocate for such a ban. I think the only compelling argument could be found in AAA posts that argue double Regenerator led to unhealthy matchup-based stalemates or losses at team preview.

Anyway, I've been having more fun this week than last week. I'll continue making new teams and laddering. I think this has been a really enjoyable OMOTM, and I might try AAA once it leaves. I haven't played that tier in a long time.

Here's my favorite team this month: https://pokepast.es/7082a019538ad4c2
I am not suggesting a one ability clause. I am suggesting a 1 regen clause.

The whole ability clause in the first place is entirely about regen. The only other one I could possibly see stacking matter is unburden.
I am suggesting we not even limit other ones to 2 as that is a pointless casualty to nerf regen specifically and a fruitless nerf to regen which is still broken.

Council has put themselves in a hard position in that the test has not gone far enough to combat regen spam.

Regen is not like other abilities and it should not be treated like other abilities. Regen vest and ice scales are the only ways to mitigate broken special attackers (other than running blissey which is even more boring).

If you doubt my calls that regen is broken feel free to try klawf tusk + av slowking galar meloetta or av slowking muk Which I use and think are broken cores.

I've been playing for a couple of days and here's the team that's gotten me to around rank 30 on the ladder. Could it use some work? Absolutely. Has is lost to volcanionisgrand a couple of times even when I know their hisuian samurott lead has a scarf? Absolutely. Is it a bunch of setup sweepers + a corviknight? You bet.

Stall and balance are off the table for an individual like me with my natty 1100 ng/dl test level. No regenerator, no brakes, all gas.

Corv eats phys hits and pivots for momentum. Golden Joseph is really there to deal with pecharunt and lure out roaring moon so that it can be dazzling gleamed. The scarf gets tricked onto anything annoying. Garchomp is my favorite mon, it had to be on the team. No one expects swords dance cinderance, it 2hkos a lot of defensive mons at +2 (just trust). All the frantic fusions homies know what blissey with stamina does. The roaring moon set is literally from AAA, I saw it in a pokeaim vid once.

Hello folks! It's been a real fun month having this meta as the OM of the month! After some time playing and participating in the Suspect Test, i have crafted a team that i wanted to share. I also shared this in the sus thread, but here i will try to give a bit of explanation as to what each member does. Here goes:

:sm/great-tusk:
Flamigo (Great Tusk) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Scrappy
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Close Combat

What a nice fella. Doesn't give a damn about those pesky levitating Pecharunts that are EVERYWHERE, knocks off crucial items like Assault Vest, Leftovers and Boots? Who wouldn't want this dude around?

:sm/zapdos:
Lycanroc-Midnight (Zapdos) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: No Guard
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Zap Cannon
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Roost

This team was hungry for a full on special attacker. I was also thinking about Drizzle Zapdos, but No Guard is much more addequate for this team, i like Zap Cannon basically forces them to accept that you are gonna paralyze a mon on their team no matter what.Unless they have a ground type like Swampert or Iron Treads, then u need to be a bit more careful.

:sm/pecharunt:
Uxie (Pecharunt) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Malignant Chain
- Shadow Ball
- Parting Shot
- Recover

This is kind of a glue mon in this meta.Great defensive profile while also threatening a badly poison with Malignant Chain.Can tank most super effective hits in clutch situations( like a Knock Off from :roaring-moon: ) while also proving itself as a great annoyance to teams that use non scrappy tusk as their spinner.

:sm/cobalion:
Reuniclus (Cobalion) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Close Combat
- Steel Beam
- Volt Switch
- Stealth Rock

Honestly, this is the star of the team.Steel Beam+Close Combat is a terrific STAB combo, allowing for Cobalion to bruteforce its way through most team's defensive backbones.Volt Switch is a great move, allowing you to deal significant damage to most neutral targets.The one thing i dislike about this mon is that sometimes its damage falls flat, as it is not able to one most regen Iron Treads sets with CC from full, but you can't have everything. Only time i've seen this mon be used on ladder is with ppl who took this team from my reqs post to use it, which is kinda funny. Defo an underated pick in the meta.

:sm/swampert:
Hydrapple (Swampert) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Flip Turn
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Mirror Coat

Forms a very good defensive backbone along with Pecharunt and the last mon of the team.Mirror Coat can save your ass in a lot of situations, but don't rely on it, only press it when you know that they are gonna hit you with a special attacker for sure, as otherwise you give them the freest turn possible. Not much to say about this mon honestly, just a very good, solid regenvester.

:sm/roaring-moon:
Tornadus-Therian (Roaring Moon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Outrage
- Earthquake

Scarf regen is crazy good. Being able to force out like 99% of Latios sets is amazing, giving you leeway to U-Turn as they switch out and keep the momentum up. I chose Eartquake as the coverage move because Treads is an annoying mon. Has insane sinergy with Swampert, as they can pivot around each others check and help scout opposing sets.

(this can also be considered a sample submission)

This is the team, please excuse me if i didn't write this in the best way, i'm kinda bad at writting posts that involve presenting teams. Here are the achievements this team has pulled:

Honestly regen is one of the things that makes aaa slightly more boring so I’d love a meta that changes things up. Right now I really don’t see much of a point to this om? It plays almost identically to aaa

From my experience in frantic fusion, it was wonderful, a while ago i got to top 5 in the ladder (im not there anymore)
and my team was pretty good, one of the best was this thing

diancie.png

HP=150
Atk=125
Def=152
SpA=90
SpD=102
Spe=47
Diancie (Dondozo) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Curse
- Earthquake
- Liquidation
- Rest

It is a BEAST for bulk tanking alot of hits and restoring to full with rest and unaware to ignore setup sweepers.
its really good in my opinion.
(i dont know how to do forums or replys sorry if i did something wrong)
