(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

We didn’t even know there was gonna be new Megas until mega Dragonite was revealed.
Previous evidence kind of pointed to new Megas coming before they were confirmed.

PLA had brand new Pokémon and new regional forms. The very first LZA trailer made it clear Megas were returning. It wasn't a huge stretch to expect new Megas.

They don’t need to show off everything that’s new, but at the minimum, we should go into these games knowing the starters, the legendaries, and at least 12-15 brand new Mons.

I would agree with that for the main generational titles, but if Legends: Arceus (with 7 new Pokémon, 17 Hisuian Forms, and Origin Formes for Dialga and Palkia — so essentially 26 new designs) was any indication, Legends games, much like most mid-generation releases before them, may just not have that kind of new Pokémon ammunition to blow on pre-release marketing.

Moving slightly away from the above main point, its dex entries state how it uses destructive beams to evaporate anything in its path of rampage- and it certainly has the movepool to support it, with several elemental beams to complement its water stab, on par with fellow serpentine dragon line of Dragonite....except unlike the latter, Gyarados did not maintain the special attack stat to make use of them. With a pitiful special attack stat, all of the awesome coverage options at its disposal (including its strongest flying stab, hurricane in the modern gens!) are left unused, and the mon is forced to make do with much fewer, lower bp coverage options off its higher attack stat. It just feels like such a disappointing waste, especially since it could've added a new dimension to an already-powerful and popular mon- allowing it to make full use of the potential offered by its vast movepool. And its mega evolution didn't even do anything to address this, and instead just chose to further amplify the mon's strengths further. (which is an overall good approach given said strengths are already potent enough as is, but....) (btw did you know mega Gyarados has the exact same defensive stats as fellow dark type Umbreon, with only 1 less point in defense? Well now you do)
This point in particular makes me speculate about the likely-scrapped Convergent/Regional Gyarados who Toedscool/Cruel seem to point to replacing in SV. We've seen our share of variants that put a spin on the Pokemon's playstyle like Gapdos, and it'd be a neat way to go with that more "beam shooting Monster/Kaiju" image they gave Gyarados but the game mechanics didn't support for it over the years (the Manga and anime frequently had images of it breathing fire/Dragon Raging/Hyper Beaming things too).

Mostly the Legends ZA stuff.

My dislikes might sound irrational, but on top of the fact that we've barely gotten to see anything new (in terms of megas, legendaries, forms, etc.) outside of mega dragonite which just recently got shown and we dont even know its ability, I just generally dont like the fact that there isnt PVP.

I understand that Legends games are supposedly SinglePlayer, but it sucks to know we're gonna have to wait the length of two pokemon games just to get to use the new pokemon against other people that aren't NPCs, because once you beat the game, its boring and there isnt anything to do outside of battle people (which was my main issue in Legends Arceus post-game).

TLDR: Very little information shown for new game + No PVP in new game.

So I might said this before here, but I think I didn't, and it was the movepool thread.

Klawf, who coulda been something, actually lacks shell smash. I was all geared up to use it, then after calcs put 'set' in for ps and saw it didn't get the main move...would've been cool to glis and general stuff, with the ability.

Boring bureucrats usually don't deny you permission to eat dinner though
No, they usually mean there is no dinner if anything.

My hang-up with Chatot is that his behavior feels written specifically to make your experience as comically miserable as possible. Only tells you about the guild cut after you actually complete a job and get a reward; immediately trusts Team Skull over you (even ignoring any "evil Poison team" stereotypes, they literally just showed up and have not built any credibility); doesn't exhibit any critical thinking ("new team we don't know shows up and then our food gets raided. Eh it's probably nothing" followed by "the rookies tried to say this other team beat them to the Perfect Apples and then walked in with an Apple to give the Guildmaster"); mean-spiritedly rubs in your face the consequences of said distrust and judgement ("yeah you're probably not gonna make the expedition. Back to work now") as opposed to just being professional and letting you just assume simple enough. And this is if I'm giving leeway for the game's word on things like the Dusknoir story after returning from the future (i.e. saying yes Chatot was playing up disbelief to test the Guild's trust in the story).

Things like Chatot's roles in the Special Episodes try to depict him in a better light with things like rallying the Guild to save Bidoof and acting pretty confident and reasonable in Sunflora's mission, but in another way this exacerbates my issue because it makes him look pretty reasonable to everyone EXCEPT your party, including another rookie like Bidoof. Like I genuinely believe if Loudred or Bidoof had reported back from the Perfect Apple incident saying "we got ambushed by Team Skull and they took the Perfect Apples," he would have heard them out whether or not it changed his reaction (Panic is reasonable since the Guildmaster explodes things when he's upset). The Brine Cave incident is a good moment but it does not make up for the rest of the story. I come out with a higher opinion of Dusknoir, an outright villain for 90% of the plot, because his motive/behaviors are actually discussed and his actions to make him seem "good" actually correlate to correcting his mistakes or previous character vices (i.e. calling off the plan to steal Grovyle's body and stop the bad future from changing)

Chatot is a union 2nd in command with high nepotism, you the player are fucked

Really the issue is;

-He's canonically a pridefup hardass that employs tough love. Wiggly calls him out for that for the Dusknoir thing, not believing Chatot actually thought the player simply fell into the Dimensional hole. Everyone made a mistake to trust Dusknoir

-The writers thought they made Team Skull charismatic enough but lol. Koffing and Zubat did not try, so Chatot seems like a bigger dumbass

Honestly if they had him drop the punishment to the player/partner when Team Skull brings the apples fans would probably be less mad

Though I do like the rage he had in Brine Cave, but yeah it's too late. He's fun to hate, a lot deserved, but there's a point it gets bullshit

Like blaming him for the 90% when he very bluntly states it goes to the Guildmaster

The fuckass's addiction...

This is also after the player/partner ready spent the night with a room in the Guild, so sadly a debt was already incurred

Graduation and the money still being taken as a whole is stupid, and 1000% Wigglytuff being bored. Grandmaster of all things bad my ass...

This is also something I noticed, no one really talks about Chatot post graduation, though admittedly the Guild barely matters. I do like that he's the first to note rumor of Drowzee being able to enter dreams when the endless nightmares for mons sprouted, and actually taking into account of Bidoof's theory, same for Cresselia. But it's sparse, and being full of worldly knowledge doesn't mean much

Post-game brings another thing to mind for me: Chatot being the voice of reason and the knowledgeable one on raising Manaphy after you hatch its egg. In these cases, he does scold you for Manaphy getting sick and makes the arrangements for them to be raised by Walrein in a more appropriate Ocean environment, with his actions coming from a clear concern for actual harm that might otherwise occur as a result of your misstep or if nothing is done, respectively.

This is what I think really sours Main-Game Chatot. The writing shows he can be handled in a sort of "tough love/necessarily harsh" manner with the right situation, but as much as his actions, his attitude feels more spiteful or belittling than strict persay. Even in Brine Cave, he moreso gets confused and has to have it EXPLAINED that Team Skull are thugs as they are robbing you for the Relic Fragment. His anger after is also more talking about him being deceived than them messing with you or apologizing for their deceit causing him to punish you. I don't think this was intentional but it is ultimately a writing angle that doesn't help if anyone was already down on the character.
