Introduction

Hello OU RMT, its been a long time, but now I'm back with a team that has actually done really well on ladder. The idea for this team came after 0ddish0ne suggested Dondozo Veil, which at first, I ofc dismissed as a silly idea. But after seeing some of the calcs of Dondozo behind Veil, I slowly realised this was an amazing idea.

So then I started building, and eventually I had a team that I was proud of. I started laddering, and got some decently good goobage clips, but nothing high enough for me to be confident to post it. Fast forward about a month, and in a group discord, I dropped the team for others to use. And thats when Ghoulish Champ started winning with it. Like, a lot. Like, 300+ elo a lot. And eventually, got over the 2000 mark in OLT, which honestly, was better then I was ever going to get. So here I am to spread the abomination that is Dondozo veil.

The Team

:sv/ninetales alola:
Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Encore
- Freeze-Dry
- Foul Play

Firstly, we have the veil setter of the team, alolan ninetales. IDT much is needed to be explained here, a-tales gets up veil, stops sweepers with encore, and the general gist. The last move is mostly flexible. Foul play here can punish setup sweepers pretty easily and can do better damage to gholdengo and opposing steels/fires. But realistically, any of snowscape, moonblast or roar could also work here.

:sv/dondozo:
Dondozo @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Wave Crash
- Avalanche
- Rest

Ofc, the main attraction of the team, dondozo can act not only as a setup sweeper, but also as a stopgap against opposing sweepers. Specially defensive is used here as it makes it a much better wincon, especially under veil. Wave crash is chosen as the water stab due to its much higher BP, allowing dodozo to threaten better damage before a boost. Avalanche is used to help against the dragon types of the tier and allow dondozo to do something to waterpon. Finally, rest allows Dondozo to remove any status or damage it has sustained while boosting/sweeping, allowing it to sometimes end games easier. Leftovers means that dondozo can heal off chip damage, meaning that it doesn't have to click rest as often. Tera Fire has a dual purpose. It firstly allows dondozo to ignore the multiple wisp users in the tier such as Moltres and Dragapult, allowing easy setup, while also making it resist freeze dry from Kyurem, which is one of the bigger annoyances for dozo.

:sv/iron treads:
Iron Treads @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Steel Beam
- Earth Power
- Rapid Spin

Since we have such a crippling weakness to Raging Bolt, Iron Treads was a no brainer here. This is just a standard lead set, with its reliability in getting off rocks, setting up its own, and then pivoting out to a teammate with Steel Beam. Not much more to say, its pretty standard.

:sv/kyurem:
Kyurem @ Never-Melt Ice
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 168 Atk / 88 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Icicle Spear
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power

Kyurem is the main wallbreaker/stallbreaker of the team, and can help defensively by checking annoying Pokemon such as Waterpon. This set is used to maximise Kyurem's odds to leave a huge dent in teams, as Pokemon such as Glowking that might try to switch into it will be hurt by powerful Icicle Spear's, while physical walls such as Zamazenta don't like taking Freeze Dry. Tera Ice makes Kyurem a nuke on both sides.

:sv/comfey:
Comfey @ Kee Berry
Ability: Triage
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 236 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Synthesis
- Stored Power

Comfey was probably the weirdest Pokemon on this team, as it can sometimes 6-0 instantly, or fall extremely flat. Comfey is utilising a set that is designed to make it do well into both offense and defense. The given ev spread allows comfey to outspeed the normal Zapdos spread, which means you can avoid a potential t-wave para if needed. Synthesis can allow Comfey to keep itself healthy while boosting, which is extremely nice to not be forced to stay in when trying to sweep also. Stored power is the main thing for this set, as it can allow Comfey to beat other CM mons, and also means after a few boosts, Poisons and Steels are no issue for it. Kee berry ofc gives it a much needed defense boost, allowing it to take on physical attackers much easier. Tera steel can not only allow Comfey to ignore Toxic users like Glowking, but also can allow it to easily take Make it Rain from Gholdengo, making it setup fodder.

:sv/polteageist:
Polteageist @ White Herb
Ability: Cursed Body
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 Spe
Bold Nature
- Shell Smash
- Shadow Ball
- Strength Sap
- Tera Blast

Finally, Polteageist is another sweeper for the team, and I would say its definetely the main wincon for the team. The ev spread I got from GrimtheImpy, who used it in his RMT here. This set can allow Polteageist to accrue multiple boosts per game, by using strength sap against opponents such as Ting Lu or such that might otherwise 1v1 it. Tera Blast alongside Tera Fighting allows Polteageist to beat the many Dark types in the tier that otherwise stomach its hits.

Threat list

This team can beat most mons/teamstyles with careful play, but here are the ones that this team struggles with the most.

:iron moth: If Iron Moth carries energy ball, get ready to have a painful MU. Typically, if you can get in Kyurem for free (prob best to lead it tbh), then you can force it out/trade with it. If it reveals a set that is not e-ball, then Dondozo can do decently well into it.

:ogerpon wellspring: Not many switchins on this team, especially with dondozo or treads potentially letting it in for free. If its not play rough, then Kyurem trades with it really well. If they lead it against a-tales, click freeze dry immediately. It is absolutely worth it to stay in and KO/heavily damage them.

:gholdengo: Another mon that is a pain to deal with, iron treads or Dondozo can deal with it decently well, though with tera, comfey can also somewhat beat it.

:blissey: :dondozo: Opposing stall is a mixed bag. If they have no clodsire or pex, then its a free win. If they have clodsire or pex, then force tera with Kyurem, and then potentially one of either comfey, or polteageist can sweep.

:alomomola: Normal mola is fine, but AV mola is a pain for this team, just boost up with comfey, and you should prob be fine.
