Finals

  • Follow all rules listed here.
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to me or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
  • Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.
  • Replays are mandatory. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later.

SV Bo5: Itchy vs Fancy1 top 1 sv5
SV Bo5: prunyy vs Akeras prunny has this from a plot perspective
SS Bo7: gorilaa vs glitched i favour glitched here fsr even though gorilaa is evidently really fucking good
SS Bo5: stravench vs deddd strav will win quite dubiously
SM: LRXC vs The God of 1v1 ❄ LittleRunnerXC wins for the plot

BW: trace vs LittEleven Litt in 4, should purely come down to mainer diff.

The Plot (4) vs (4) The Playoff Risers
SV Bo7: Victor Wembanyama vs Jalen Brunson
Indi has goat potential, when I finally thought I figured him out after playing him twice he kinda just brute forced me LOL (knock hoodra into someone with no amulet usage be so fr). Indi has weaknesses in his game like wemby's physicality, however this can cause uncertainty and act as a strength because he might just try to post you up anyway while you're waiting for the pull up. Bea has been a star in the last couple years after historically being a good starter level player, but since changing environments at barras that season has been one of the best players without much debate.

SV Bo5: Alex Caruso vs Tyrese Haliburton
While by no means a star, having a player like itchy proves really beneficial to winning the tour, great on defence (i.e while down) and can give you 20 if you don't give them enough credit. Fancy has really refined his game a lot, starting out as a raw talent, ok builder and somewhat predictable player turning into one of the best builders, great clicker and one of the most electric players to watch.

SV Bo5: Jaylin Williams vs Ivica Zubac
Jaylin is a cheerleader through and through and that's kinda why you pick him. In a solid place to get playoff minutes after injuries (uh) right now. Zubac was always kind of just there, but recently he's been an impressive starting centre, definitely not very versatile but does a few things very well.

SS Bo7: Kawhi Leonard vs Cade Cunningham
Is this the dagger? Kawhi can guard any position at a top level like gorilaa can play any slot, clutched tiebreak. Used to developing in terms of offensive potency but is now undeniably a consistent weapon on that end. Cade is a great, well-rounded player with very high upside , but just struggles to win sometimes. Definitely someone that can get you some points when the team slows down, which helps motivates others to try harder.

SS Bo5: Jordan Clarkson vs Aaron Gordon
Jordan Clarkson is Filipino and he'll average like 15pts a season, just quite streaky. Aaron Gordon goes under the radar in comparison to his teammates, but is without a doubt a big reason for the nuggets success, just like deddd is a big reason panchams are here right now.

SM: Mike Conley vs Gradey Dick
Mike Conley is a veteran who was a great player in his time and while he might've slowed down a bit in recent years, certain things that are important to his game aren't affected by age. I don't know a whole lot about Gradey Dick but he has a funny name and is a solid scorer, just lacks consistency.

ORAS: Josh Giddey vs Jayson Tatum
I wanted to call someone Josh Giddey and lets be real he is not Fancy anymore. Jayson Tatum is a great player with no real weakness and historically can play bad and get carried by his team anyway. kaif is kaif. He hasn't looked like that this tour, but in general the comparison is there.

BW: Rui Hachimura vs Devin Booker
Rui can give you a three when you need one, however he's not who you would rely on to run an offense, rather a member in a system. Devin Booker is someone everyone recognises as one of the best players, just no one knows exactly where he stands. Great scorer and can have insane performances but not always a consistent winner.

On paper it seems quite Panchams favoured, however heatrans have proven time and time again they can escape any tough situation. For Panchams to win, it's vital they get early wins and secure a lead before the last few games to give some headway against probably the clutchest team I've ever seen.

drafted indi for heatrans last year planning to manage again and retain
lost to bea to let chams play tiebreak
lost to indi 3 times, including tiebreak
most impactful 1-8 of all time, put some respect on my name.

Hellfire Heatrans (3) vs (5) Playful Panchams
SV Bo7: Indi01 vs bea (60/40) Indi has proven to me that they're built different over the course of pl, I trust them to clutch up
SV Bo5: Itchy vs Fancy1 (45/55) Fancy will go on an insane final training arc to #save1v1
SV Bo5: prunyy vs Akeras (35/65) rooting for both of you, I initially thought this was close but then I remembered how clutch Akeras is
SS Bo7: gorilaa vs glitched (60/40) I don't think I will ever bold against gorilaa he's too good, glitched 0-x into 2-0 poffs would be cool tho
SS Bo5: stravench vs deddd (45/55) let's pretend I have a reasoning for this and I'm not bolding deddd bc it feels like panchams have a slight edge and I don't want this to go to tiebreak
SM: LRXC vs The God of 1v1 ❄ (55/45) I think adv man will lock tf in
ORAS: NTG Cuz IDK vs Kaif (40/60) similar to gorilaa, bolding against kaif is a consistently bad decision
BW: trace vs LittEleven (40/60) great tours from both but I think litt will clutch up

Thursday predictions incoming.

Honestly very interesting finals. Indi's been dominating SV7 for the entirety of the tour, but Heatran's SV5 have been lacking even if they've gotten some good amount of wins, meanwhile all of pancham's SV have been some of the most consistent for their team. Meanwhile in SS glitched has been struggling a lot this tour, and again gorilaa has been very dominant, but again it's flipped in SS5 Strav has been struggling, while deddd has some really good wins. As for the older gens, I think it's just obvious that panchams have the clear advantage. I think this is LRXC's first appearance in SM this tour, and while NTG and Trace have had good performances, Kaif and Litt are just better.

Anyways actual match predictions, incoming

Wait

What's this??

HELLFIRE HEATRANS: A 2025 SUMMARY REVIEW

INTRO

hc4lpcqzi5n21.webp

SHOUTOUTS - The Main Squad

A true leader, the stability of the team was constantly on your shoulders, and you NEVER let it knock you over. Even if there were tiers that you were less familiar with, you helped them all, whether it was with tests, moral encouragement, or even just directing other people with more tier expertise to help those in need. I was glad when you reached out to me prior to PL drafts, and I'm proud to be the one person other than yourself that you retained from last year's Hellfire Heatrans. I know you must've had your up and downs throughout the course of PL, but I'm glad to have shared this 2 months+ experience with you. Cheers, and I sincerely hope to be on the same team as you again in the future; if it were possible to retain everyone who played this year, I know you would've in a heartbeat.
A true leader. For example:
ITCHY THE CLUTCHY!! Thank you so much for your SV help when I needed the tests, the fact that you were able to do rapid fire battles back to back with a huge arsenal of generally balanced teams helped me to fine-tune my sets before the big day each week. I still remember the first time I ever battled you, back in 1v1 Masters Round 6 in 2023, where we were both in the winners bracket and you defeated me with a Chien-pao (plus some other stuff, but replays are broken since the yada yada). Back then, I battled you during a 6-hour car drive from Niagara Falls back to Connecticut, only to have lost to you while I was passing Springfield, MA. But thanks to you, I was able to go on to battle other notable players: Sificon -> Kaif -> DEG -> DripLegend -> then losing to Squirtell; and this led me to being just 1 placement short (alongside Kaif) of getting into 1v1 Champs. While this may seen like me complaining, its not at all, like, I really did grow to enjoy 1v1 and improve my strategies quickly by being thrown into the gauntlet of experienced players. All in all, it was a joy to be your teammate this year, and I hope to battle with you or even against you in another intense tournament environment.
The real glue of the team. At least half of the team's activity was either done by you, or initiated by you. You offered a helping hand to everyone who needed some, and still gave them more. Even when you misplayed with skeledirge your first ever teamtour SV 1v1 series, or that gif-able experience with the sub volcarona and the hyperspace hoopa, you didn't let it stop you from trying to better yourself in the world of SV. I'm sorry you had to be stuck in SV jail for so long, but don't worry, it gets worse :). JK, in all honesty you were really fun to talk with, even about random stuff not pertaining to pokemon. Enjoy our team's custom avatar, because YOU. EARNED. IT.
SS7 GOAT! As someone who really only plays SV for 1v1, I never really knew that you played so well in other gens, SS specifically. I kinda only knew that you were a competent SV player, who usually use like 60% standard sets, 35% uncommon, and 5% psycho XD (numbers pulled out of nowhere). Seeing you rack of wins throughout the season had me pumped, both as your teammate, and also just as someone who enjoys spectating good players battling other good players. Your help with testing my teams was also great, as I was able to change evs for a set or two that I'm pretty sure mattered for 1-2 games. Seriously, I'm glad that we got to fight alongside one another and prove the might of the Heatrans this tour. Genuinely, same with Itchy, i really want to team with you again, but also clash against you in a team tour. Maybe in WC....?
**ADV Legend makes an appearance in SM ONCE and wins 3-0; shocks all** First time I ever heard about you was random times people mentioned you in cord, but I only really got to know you was when I was in Nidoqueen's Gambit for OGPL. I was sent to ADV for one week, and given I know like, nothing before Gen 4, I watched your entire video on ADV 1v1 sets, and especially took notes on your use of Marowak and the pros/cons for each set you mentioned. I may not have won my ADV series, but it was still a fun learning experience thanks to you. Now in the present, you joined the team just as a sub, but you gradually became more involved as it was being clearer we had a REAL chance at getting through playoffs, and then even winning finals. Your dedication to question player's motives for their mons and sets, and not just be a wall/mirror for players to ego themselves to really helped ensure that teams weren't made on a whim. Glad to have worked with you, hope to see you again!
Thank you for the advice you gave since the start of the season. Switching from using a mon a lot to then not at all midtour helped mitigate the strength of cteams by opp. Also, I really enjoyed seeing the sets you built for ORAS, hope to see you do more great stuff with that gen in the future :D
Thank you for your service.
We never really spoke 1 to 1, but you made some great BW plays, and I'm glad you supported as all through the season even though you had a few weeks being busy irl. If you're down to play BW again next year, hope you get retained :).
Appreciate the SV support, I was able to get a good amount of data to improve my teams, especially when it mattered the most during finals week. I know you didn't have a good tour SV wise, but you continued to give your strength and skills to others through your team-building support. Thanks as always, hope to see you in more tours together in the future ^^
Sorry we never really conversed in team cord, but I did know you tried your best to help us, especially when you played Week 5. Hope the SV gods give you better rng in future tours ^^
Saved one of the most notable in, at least to my personal 1v1 career, for last. Long story short, actually is still gonna be a bit long, I first entered the world of 1v1 during the 2023 1v1 Majors, where my first ever 1v1 opponents were in Pools Phase 1, of DEG, Clouds, and TrainerPla. Then in Pools Phase 2, there was DEG (again!?), justdelemon, and Fancy1. Yea, pretty rough crowd to start my first 1v1 tour, especially since a lot of my mons were just from sample teams. Next, was Round 1, the first phase of the tour where I only had to concentrate on a single opponent. This was the first ever time I ever tried to cteam someone in a Pokemon game EVER, and this is prob where my joy for buidling 1v1 started. I remember I built mons like vest magnezone nicknamed "Presssd for Time" as a way to try to get Sword to unconsciously think it was a iron defense body press set instead. But the most important mon to ever emerge from this nicknaming scheme was my favorite flying-type: Corviknight, aka "Daunting". With all the set compedium corvs being mostly a taunt variant, I tried to lure the idea I was too with how taunt and daunt rhyme; yea, i really was a sweaty nerd back then. Equipping it with assault vest + mirror armor, it became a staple for me, as it defeated stuff like oger-flame who'd taunt t1 or even stall azu (which it prob shouldn't). Honestly, if I had lost early in Majors, I prob would have just dropped 1v1 altogether and tried a different metagame, just as I had dropped hackmons and monotype before this tour. I still remember how when I first joined the 1v1 cord, I looked up my name to see the first things being DEG complaining about his pool phase 1 opponents, Lumii (now bellchime) asking who Indi01 as a response, and scrolling down a bit to find you complaining over losing to a rando, which at the time and still now I feel bad for given you would've made it pretty high in the tour given the remaining opponents. However, I do have to admit how great I felt at the time for beating someone with a single team of mons that I built specifically with one person in mind, while only changing items/sets if the team that mon was built to 3-0 already was used. And since then, I've kept an eye on your SV tour series, and really enjoyed learning how to better improve my building skills from how you built your teams. It was a great honor to fight together on the same team this PL, and although I didn't expect you to be given the chance to play much after missing that one series, I was really glad to see you providing the team with feedback and support, especially in the ORAS department. Good luck in your future teamtours, and thanks for giving me the opportunity to join such a great Pokemon community. :D

SHOUTOUTS - Non Heatrans

Thanks a ton to everyone who supported our team, from the little bits of teambuilding advice to the major "TF WERE YOU THINKING" whenever someone built something really......abstract XD. From those who came from other PL teams that were out of the running, to DEG, we appreciate your company and knowledge. I won't be naming everyone I can, cause I'm sure to miss someone and feel bad after, but the most help I received personally was from glacynerd. Their Google spreadsheets for scouts was a lifesaver, as I was able to assume what my opp would bring based on their teammates' scouts and basically map out a chart of what they will bring based on their usage, my usage, and their teammates. You were the MVP out of the non Heatrans, and I hope we get to battle one day in a future tour^^

**Will edit and post teams in the following days, but since I'll be providing commentary, might take a while. Or maybe I'll just be lazy and team dump who knows**

THE BIG TEAM DUMP

Since I usually delete all my teams after each series, I copy-pasted most teams from discord, but some teams I built on the fly and can't remember the exact evs used

G7 - Same as G5, but Donphan is now AV, running gunk shot, quake, play rough, and ice spinner. 252attack, 252 spdef, adamant.
Note: G2 and G3 were just the teams fraun submitted to be sample teams.

Now this is where it gets a bit freestyle. This team of 6 mons were all designed to 3-0 two of frailty's past teams, whether it was during PL or UMBD. The plan was to use two of them in the hopes of getting a lucky matchup, and the 3rd just ensuring I don't lose to whatever the 1st two were weak to in term of general meta mons/sets. G2 I assumed they would reuse their G1 team, which they did, and the Haxorus set was built for the Cress/diancie/meow team. Should i have gone for the safer iron head instead of iron tail, prob, but I felt that it would be good to have for most sylveon sets as a backup.
G5 - Can't remember this one, I honestly just chose some mons that I usually use and then mashed them together, while keeping in mind that cress would likely be reused again.
G6 - Here, I just thought of the most generic high value mons, hoopa val metagross, and just ran imported set compedium sets that looked decent, band val, vest metagross, and i think scarf/custap hoopa was picked by past me.

Donphan was built after scouting Vertigo's series, seeing how they shouted out Kaif/LittEleven even though they were on Panchams, and thought that the Sinischa team would be run by bea after seeing how Rudi.exe also used it. GOD was I ecstatic when I saw this team played.
G5 - Here, I built on the spot, Volcanion was specs that should in theory beat their g1 team, Prim was amulet with the plan to beat their g2 team, and Tyranitar was scarf+ice punch to beat their g3 team.
