Mechanics Interaction of Pluck/Bug Bite and Jaboca Berry

What type of bug are you reporting? Mechanics

What is the bug?
Since Gen 5, using Pluck or Bug Bite will not prevent the user of the move from being damaged by the opponent's Jaboca Berry. However, PS! is incorrectly still using the Gen 4 interaction between the move and the berry and not dealing damage to the Bug Bite user.

Are you able to replicate it? If so, how?
Gen 4 Cart Footage (this is how PS! has the interaction for all gens)
Gen 5 Cart Footage | Gen 5 Replay
Gen 9 Cart Footage | Gen 9 Replay

(I can show additional gen cart footage if needed, but for the sake of brevity I stuck with these three)

The reason this happens in modern games is because of event timing in the checks done after move success. Bug Bite/Pluck happen pretty late (the same event as Eject Button, Moxie, Color Change, Knock Off, Thief, Thousand Arrows, things like that). Jaboca/Rowap happen much earlier, after things like Rough Skin, Weak Armor, Mummy, etc. and at the same time as King's Shield, but before things like Pokemon fainting.

What about Gen 5?
Enigma Berry activates before it is eaten in Gen 5.
Just Coba and Tanga, or all the type–effective damage reducing berries?
...I decided to test Chilan Berry with Normalize Bug Bite and Chilan activated before the move, so I double checked Coba/Tanga and they also activated before Pluck/Bug Bite respectively. For whatever reason I cannot seem to replicate the result I had two months ago where they were eaten before the berries activated. My apologies for the error and thank you for making me double-check the work. PS! handlels Coba/Tanga correctly in Gen 4.

I just found it strange, that's why I asked!
