Ting-Lu @ Rocky Helmet
Name: Special Tank (Dark)
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Ruination
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind

[SET COMMENTS]
Ting-Lu is a must-have on Dark teams due to its great bulk and Utility. Earthquake prevents Ting-Lu from becoming too passive and deals with common targets such as Ceruledge, Hisuian Goodra, and Clodsire. Ruination is an extremely useful tool, especially paired with entry hazards, as it allows Ting-Lu to wear down foes and prevent threats such as Hatterene from sweeping Dark teams. Stealth Rock is the preferred hazard option as Hisuian Samurott can offensively set Spikes for Dark teams. Lastly, Whirlwind can be used to phase out dangerous setup sweepers such as Volcarona, Azumarill, and Skarmory out, while also helping them rack up chip damage on the opposing team from entry hazards. Investment in max HP and Special Defense allows Ting-Lu to sponge attacks from threats such as Raging Bolt, Flutter Mane, and Greninja. Rocky Helmet allows Ting-Lu to punish contact moves such as U-turn from Roaring Moon and Meowscarada, Close Combat from Iron Valiant, and Draining Kiss from Hatterene.

Swords Dance Hisuian Samurott is a fantastic partner, forming a hazard stacking core with Ting-Lu thanks to Ceaseless Edge. Furthermore, its access to priority in Sucker Punch and coverage in Sacred Sword allows for Hisuian Samurott to easily deal with Dragon, Ground, Normal, and Steel teams. In return, Ting-Lu handles Raging Bolt for Hisuian Samurott. Meowscarada and Greninja are an incredible duo dealing with a plethora of threats for Ting-Lu, with Choice Scarf Meowscarada taking out Flutter Mane, Azumarill, and Enamorus, whereas Choice Specs Greninja removes Gliscor, Galarian Weezing, Iron Valiant, and the Ogerpon formes. With the help of Ting-Lu's Stealth Rock, Nasty Plot Darkrai with its colorful moveset and great speed is an amazing wallbreaker, being able to OHKO Specially Defensive Corviknight if using Thunder, Assault Vest Tornadus-T, and Ogerpon-W after a boost. Mandibuzz punishes setup sweepers like the Ogerpon formes, Belly Drum Azumarill, and Scizor with Foul Play while also putting Iron Hands on a timer with Toxic. Mandibuzz can also pivot Ting-Lu in on Gholdengo via U-turn. Sableye, thanks to its part-Ghost typing, stops Rapid Spin attempts that are trying to remove Ting-Lu's Stealth Rock while also checking Fighting-type threats like Sneasler and Great Tusk via Will-O-Wisp. Additionally, Sableye removes key items like Heavy-Duty Boots from Moltres and Articuno, making them extremely prone to Stealth Rock. Bisharp eases the Fairy-type matchup for Ting-Lu by getting rid of Flutter Mane and Hatterene while also dissuading Defog attempts thanks to Defiant.

Leftovers can be used to give Ting-Lu more longevity, at the cost of decreasing its ability to punish contact moves like Meowscarada's U-turn and Hatterene's Draining Kiss. Heavy Slam can help Ting-Lu patch its weakness against Fairy-type Pokemon such as Hatterene and Flutter Mane. Spikes are also an option for Dark teams not using Hisuian Samurott. However, using Spikes or Heavy Slam comes at the cost of dropping valuable utility moves like Whirlwind, which can stop setup sweepers like Volcarona from stealing the game.

Nasty Plot Darkrai with its colorful moveset and great speed is a amazing wallbreaker, being able to remove Corviknight, Dragonite, and Toxapex after a boost (this sentence doesn't really mention any synergy with Ting-Lu, I'd find a calc or two that turns from a 3hko to a 2hko with rocks up). Mandibuzz punishes setup sweepers like the Ogerpon formes, Belly Drum Azumarill, and Scizor with Foul Play while also putting Iron Hands on a timer with Toxic. Mandibuzz also can pivot Ting-Lu in on Gholdengo via U-turn.

Worth mentioning Sableye as a fighting and rapid spin immunity, as well as a defensive piece with recovery

implemented, ty fam, for darkrai i really couldnt find nothing 3hko into 2hkos as everything was dropping at +2. So i just reworded the sentence and changed examples as well.

2/2 Looks fairly clean. Add Bisharp to check help Fairy-types along with defiant to punish Defog.
Also switch Leftovers and Rocky Helmet's places in the analysis. The increased in sustain is a major boon for Ting-Lu overall as it allows it to more comfortably check the special walls it needs to compared to chip on physical attackers whom still barrage through Ting-Lu anyway.
Out of curiosity, I went and checked every MPL game that loaded Ting-Lu, found that 1 dark game wasn't recorded which was in finals, one game is a water game recorded as dark, still maintaining 38 Dark games total, and saw 3 Ting-Lu's not using Leftovers, 2 Rocky Helmet and 1 Eject button, and they all lost.
