This thread serves as a hub for 1v1 Other Tiers and their resources. This post is unfinished, I wanted to get something out quick.

FAQ is WIP, I'll finish it when I have more energy but here's the most important ones

Q: What is a 1v1 Other Tier?
Q: A 1v1 Other Tier is any metagame that adds a rule to the conventional 1v1 metagame, this can be a banlist change like AG 1v1 or UU 1v1, or a fundamental change to the way 1v1 is played like MnM 1v1 or LC 1v1. 1v1 OTs should only try to implement one concept at a time, that means mashups of multiple tiers (like AAA Monotype Scalemons 1v1) does not belong in this project. Monopoke is also not an OT.

Q: Why did you change the name from Other Metas to Other Tiers?
Q: Given that OMs and UMs were split, I decided to follow the precedent set by NatDex and use that name instead.

Q: What are the requirements for OT TLs or council members?
Q: There's of course the usual "no banned users" and stuff, but other than that as long as you haven't recently gotten in trouble for anything you're probably fine

Q: How do I get my OT added?

Q: There's a discord??
Q: There's an official shared discord server for all 1v1 OTs

Q: Can I use a private discord server instead?
Q: You can make servers for people you like to hang out with to do whatever you want in there, but those servers cannot be officially affiliated with 1v1/smogon and can't be shared or mentioned in the 1v1 room, forum, or in any official 1v1 discord server

Mix and Mega 1v1 is a 1v1 OM where any Pokémon can use any mega stone and gain the boosts from said stone. This meta gives a lot of otherwise unused pokemon a huge chance to make a big impact in the meta with new abilites and boosted stats.

SV 1v1 UU is a new and exciting twist on a familiar metagame! This is a rotating metagame where every 3 months new usage shakes the tier up, with the next update being at the start of November. The process to determine the cutoff is identical to 6v6 UU: if a typical competitive player is more than 50% likely to encounter a Pokémon at least once in a given day of playing (30 battles) then it is considered OU and is banned. This results in all mons above ~2.28% usage to be banned.

Munchlax, much like its older sibling Snorlax, was able to abuse many different sets, like Choice Band, Eviolite bulky, and Custap + Belly Drum. Encore and Counter allowed Munchlax to match up very well into almost every physical attacker, and its sheer special bulk allowed it to match up well into every special attacker. Leech Seed Pokemon like Voltorb-H and Cottonee couldn't even abuse its high HP to restore a lot of HP due to Munchlax's very high attack stat alongside Encore to lock them into Leech Seed.

Mega Metagross was very constraining in the builder and even worse in game. Although it seems not much changed for it, the additions of Heavy Slam and Body Press to its movepool have allowed it to run more defensive investment and less Attack, providing it the ability to use even more alternative sets and spreads. This higher overall bulk commonly makes it significantly harder to take down after an Iron Defense, made worse by a Tough Claws Body Press. Often, Pokemon that seem to boast a favorable matchup simply get statchecked, with either its absurd bulk, its naturally high Attack, or its incredible Speed.
While it did have its share of hard counters, the level of constraint it held over the entire rest of the tier not named Ghostium Dragapult, Spectrier, Bulk Up Urshifu and non-Choice Band Victini have led to its ban for the unreal amount of limitations it imposed on teambuilding.

Mega Blastoise is banned from National Dex 1v1!

Mega Blastoise, after gaining just one significant move, has ridden that extra move to stardom. Shell Smash gave it a staggering +2 Special Attack and Speed while often not suffering the penalty from dropped defenses due to its decent bulk in combination with middling Speed. Despite its unimpressive Special Attack by the metagame's standards and aforementioned average Speed, Shell Smash would instantly fix both of these problems, leaving very little counterplay to Pokemon hit at least neutrally by its coverage. The standard Smash / Cannon set is uniquely representative of how strong it is, as it already takes on a decent chunk of the tier, with Mega Launcher-boosted Aura Spheres, Dragon Pulses and Dark Pulses ready to fire for other matchups it may need. However, additional coverage such as Ice Beam, Hidden Power varieties, and even Counter and Mirror Coat make it considerably more challenging to beat reliably, to the point where we have decided to ban Mega Blastoise.
 
I've been having a lot of fun with LC 1v1 since the Munchlax ban, but yeah there is definitely a lot of brokens running around right now. I'm going to highlight the four most problematic Pokemon in my opinion, and then I'll also mention some mons to keep an eye out on.

Weirdly enough I think this guy needs to go first. While its answers are very self-explanatory (Earthquake users, strong priority users, some Flying-types, Pokemon that can OHKO it), it just feels like a very unhealthy presence, just always beating most other Pokemon. Dig into Copycat spam is just uninteractive, and unlike the other legal user of this combination (Riolu), Shroodle has Encore, meaning Sucker Punch and Protect aren't enough to beat it.

While I think Cottonee is less broken than the other three Pokemon I'm talking about here, I do still think its ability to just autowin games with SubLeech is just too much for the tier. Similar to Shroodle, its answers are fairly straight forward, but due to the nature of multi-hit moves in a LC environment, maximum Defense investment makes it so Cottonee can actually beat some multi-hit users like Aipom. 19 HP IVs make it so Substitute only requires 3 HP, allowing Cottonee to more reliably stall with SubLeech.

Yeah we probably should not have freed this guy, it just has significantly better stats than everything else in the tier. For context, Gligar has 430 BST, while to my knowledge, the next highest BST legal Pokemon, Mudbray, has 385 BST. Gligar hits 19 Speed with insane bulk and very solid attack. Pretty much the only Pokemon that can reliably beat it are Ice- and Water-types, and Pokemon with strong special Ice coverage. Physical Ice coverage usually isn't enough, as Gligar is able to just tank it. For context, this Gligar EV spread takes Adamant Iron Fist Timburr Ice Punch into Mach Punch. I will say this set is definitely not optimal, I can definitely see Gligar becoming even more of a problem than it already is if it stays in the tier.

This is what I've been running as of late, I haven't seen much Icy Wind on this mon but in my opinion it is crucial. Zorua-H 2HKOes most Pokemon with any move into Hyper Beam, so you can use Bitter Malice against slower physical attackers, Calm Mind or Snarl against slower Special Attackers, or Icy Wind against faster frailer Pokemon. Calm Mind is generally better than Snarl but Snarl is useful to hit through Substitute which is often used to try to block Hyper Beam, and it's very helpful in the mirror. There are very few Pokemon that I've found that can reliably beat Zorua-H, mainly some Dark-types (some Vullaby sets and Pawniard come to mind), and fellow brokens Shroodle and Cottonee. This set 100% tanks Life Orb Mienfoo Knock Off, and there are many other strong physical attacks that can barely not KO this set, and 36 Speed allows you to outspeed Voltorb-H after Icy Wind.

There's also a few Pokemon I don't think are broken now but I want to keep an eye on. I'm not going to go into detail, but I'm mainly keeping watch on Riolu and Aipom. Thanks for reading.

the fast ghost types :spectrier: :dragapult: are good and really versatile with the option of z moves. Gengar is probably good but I didnt explore it much.

two steels stood out to me other than the one that got banned
:magearna: we all know what it does but its moveset in natdex feels insane and it can be tough finding a real check sometimes (few mons are truly consistent, mostly fire types)

:Melmetal: is similar except that its greater outright strength + how well it uses custap + the threat of IDpress (good set) give it an edge. This is a ticking time bomb.

Fire types are insane good. Zards, Hearth, Cinderace, Volcanion, Volcarona, Victini.

:victini: this is another ticking time bomb. I dont think it was loaded in the end but it does so much man. If people abused it more it would be on ban radar.

:charizard-mega-y: :charizard-mega-x: Zard X is obviously good and ZardY is very slightly behind it. However, they dont warp the whole tier around them as one might think. lot of new threats overwhelm the two in diff ways. previews can be cancer however, sometimes.
:volcanion: is volcanion i think AV is viable but it doesnt feel like it has a main set like in SV, nor does it do anything new in natdex that it hasn't done for 4 gens now.
:volcarona: gains back bug z which murders from swarm but things also just murder it off rip too often
:ogerpon-hearthflame: Still as good as ever, but not broken. Very versataile, very flexible, and I see it as the fire that often beats other fires. Can seem like victini lite sometimes when used as a third but its outright offensive output feels much better.

Waters good, fairies good
:gyarados-mega: a lot of ppl lost to the moves earthquake, taunt and the water type. Felt really good since nobody is using tpunch blaziken and the like in this phase.
:swampert-mega: this mon is ass
:tapu fini: :primarina: Prim is worse than fini. Fini is insane good, just held back by some other top tiers rn.
:mawile-mega: underexplored but also what is it bringing to the table exactly

dragons good i dont think i need to say much. DFS ruled this tour and I saw a lot of dragonite.
:dragonite: does dragonite things. I like scarf, and dragonium sets can fit a lot of different options.
:zygarde: ngl it kinda just missed out on the minutes of what it needs to do often.
:regidrago: finally, a tier where this isnt bannable.
:altaria-mega: honestly a baller rn cause ppl just forgot it existed but ur dead to every good steel and other mons can kinda finesse you.

I tried making zoomer mons like :sneasler: :bellibolt: :raging bolt: work but they just get left behind in the world of z moves and megas

Some mons had a lot lf potential, I think we should explore them more, especially :necrozma: :mawile-mega: :tapu lele: :cinderace: :victini: :meloetta: :urshifu:

overall, i had a lot of fun. this tier is probably 2-3 bans away from stability but its not bad rn.

Following a council vote, Sableye has been banned with 3 Ban votes and 1 Abstain.

Sableye's Prankster ability, combined with Encore, Disable, and Trick, was both constricting in the builder and in game. Few Pokemon in UU were able to KO Sableye without Choice Items, which would be disabled, restricting the pool of checks mostly to just Dark and Fairy types. Sableye was able to use items such as Roseli Berry and Mental Herb to cut down on the already limited range of answers, meaning that its influence on all aspects of the game far exceeded that of a healthy Pokemon.

Melmetal is banned from National Dex 1v1!
After four votes to ban and one abstain, a council vote has seen Melmetal banned from the tier. :melmetal:

For those who stuck around during Metagross's reign of power, Melmetal was really more of the same. Its extreme advantages with both a free item slot (something denied from Mega Metagross) and a naturally gargantuan damage capability (thanks to its Iron Fist ability coupled with Double Iron Bash and a great attack stat allowing it to annihilate things) meant it could realistically do literally anything it wanted. True answers were few and far between, often requiring an unbelievably strong STAB move and/or the ability to cripple it with status or beat it with setup, with Mega Charizards, faster Ursaluna sets and Victini being fairly serviceable answers, though beyond that was fairly bleak and always a guess on set. Melmetal's set diversity was ridiculous, with its ability to run items such as Air Balloon almost completely negating one of its most relevant weaknesses, Assault Vest easily making up for its lacking Special Defense, Custap Berry (if one Double Iron Bash doesnt KO, two almost certainly will), Choice Band letting it delete frail and even some bulky Pokemon that struggle to KO it at its leisure, and other more niche options that only served to add to how asphyxiating its grasp on building and playing was.

Additionally, pqs has been added to council.

Was building mono normal for fun and realised this guy does basically does the same thing it does in SM but with more options. You nuke things with Normalium-Z Giga Impact while Tickle lets you unlock the potential of your coverage. Between Triple Axel, Gunk Shot, Low Kick, Iron Tail, Fire Punch and Knock Off you can get a lot of surprising wins. A lot of physical threats can kinda get finessed by tickle, that -1 hits you when you least expect it. This thing being in D rank is a crime.
 
Hey this is a nd 1v1 post,ik this is kinda short but I tink it needs to be said right now tapu koko is extremely broken in the builder across its various sets like electrium z farium z and electric seed, a ground type like ting lu who would be expected to win vs electrium and offensive farium suddenly crumbles to id roost on farium z. Setguessingin this tier is also obviously hard so I think banning tapu koko is a necessity to fuel the further development of this tier

Except Tapu Koko is getting powercrept significantly and blindly claiming it beats "90%" of the metagame is just false.

In the power creep department virtually all sets got a nerf from the terrain nerf dropping damage from 1.5x to 1.3x, all future pokemon get a free boost from koko entering the field, Regieleki is able significantly outpace Koko and put up the same if not more damage than it's z-nuke sets, virtually every single steel type got a significant buff now being able to run z-steel beam, and there's now shortage of new very powerful ground types like Ursaluna and Great Tusk.
 
Hello national dex 1v1 community! I recently made a list of all the moves gained by pokemon between gen 7 1v1 and natdex 1v1, for more ease in translating sm 1v1 sets to natdex 1v1. If a pokemon is in gen 7 1v1, the moves learned between sm and national dex are included, and if the pokemon is from gen 8, the moves learned between ss and national dex are included.

This was done by taking the list of moves learned in gen 7 and in national dex, and then comparing the two lists with some python code. If you're curious, here's the code I used:

The code takes input from a text file I paste the /ms7 and /nms text into, and then splits the /ms7 text into a list of strings, and the /nms text into a list of strings, then checks which items belong in the /ms7 list but not in the /nms list. Just in case I checked for moves that were lost between gen 7 and national dex but there were none. The list of moves gained between gen 7 and national dex are then joined together to form a string that I can copy and paste into my google doc.

If there's anything in the code I haven't explained then it's there to fix a specific bug

z steel beam on aegi is cool, iron hands is thanos here too, temper flare on gyarados is nice experimentation but prolly not amazing

first thoughts on the meta is that koko really isnt that good and that the true thanos pokemon is zardx. It is so polarizingly advantaged against the vast majority of the VR even more so than in other gens, and now it has access to stuff like scale shot and breaking swipe. all the new mons kinda just fuckin lose to it still
