5* Raids for Shiny Treasures of Ruin

Honestly hitting Chi-Yu physically is the better way to go anyway. 80 Defense vs 120 Special Defense.

Could maybe be another time for Azumarill to shine? (You know, for everyone; doipy hooves is way ahead of everyone there)
That may be true, but Kyogre is the exception to that rule since it comes with Rain and incredibly high SpA, and Chi-Yu’s low HP isn’t helping its special bulk that much, at least at 25x HP:

252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. Lvl 75 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Fire Chi-Yu in Rain: 1020-1200 (21.4 - 25.2% of 25x hp boss) -- 0.1% chance to 4HKO

252+ SpA Kyogre Origin Pulse vs. Lvl 75 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Fire Chi-Yu in Rain: 746-882 (15.7 - 18.5% of 25x hp boss) -- possible 6HKO

For a one-turn KO against even a 30x HP Chi-Yu:

:Kyogre: :Golduck: :Goodra: :Chi-Yu:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Beads of Ruin Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. -4 Lvl 75 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Fire Chi-Yu in Rain: 6090-7166 (106.8 - 125.7% of 30x hp boss) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Beads of Ruin Kyogre Atk Cheer Origin Pulse vs. -4 Lvl 75 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Fire Chi-Yu in Rain: 6698-7884 (117.5 - 138.3% of 30x hp boss) -- guaranteed OHKO

Considering azumarill resists both stabs, this should be pretty free for it :pip:

I know that. The joke was that Kyogre won't appreciate having its Special Attack dropped thanks to Ting-Lu's ability.
Your whale overlord will submit to my sleeping Ting Lu AND YOU WILL LIKE IT :zonger:

You're making bro fall on hard times...

Given that there are only a few days left, isn’t it kind of odd that they haven’t announced any numbers for the Ting-Lu raids yet? I feel like by this time in the Wo-Chien and Chien-Pao runs, the official accounts had posted that we’d crossed the 1 million victories mark.

I just really want this Shiny Ting-Lu; it’s my second-favorite of the Treasures!

Wo-Chien's numbers were announced at Friday 00:30 UTC and Chien-Pao's was announced Saturday 00:00 UTC, so we haven't quite reached either scheduled point yet for it to be out of the ordinary. We'll see which it is within about 3 hours or a day after that.

The drop off between wochien & chienpao is not indicative enough of ting-lu missing the mark. It would have to be a catastrophic further drop that I just don't see happening. People still want these shinies and you probably got enough randos grinding it out just in case to tip the scales to meet the million threshold.

I also think, after mulling it over the last time I went "hey is it weird" with chien-pao, if there was a sign of it not making it, they would post it earlier because at the end of the day they do probably want to give these things out and the vibes would be Bad if we failed that hard. And probably a lot more, ah, public than the time we continually failed the Gen 7 plaza missions.

That’s quite a significant drop off compared to the other two, no? Glad we have managed to get the third one! Lets go get that final one. I have a few water types I am going to trial out.

Or I could just try Sylveon and metronome again. XD

The early totals for Wo-Chien & Chien-Pao were 3,504,861 and 2,956,622

It's honestly about as much dropdoff. Arguably Wo-Chien -> Chien-Pao probably had more of one because I think Chien-Pao & Ting-Lu were 1 week totals but Wo-Chien was 5 days.

Again I think this makes sense. Wo-Chien was always going to have the biggest push behind it. It went live basically immediately after the presents, it had the most unknown about if we could make it and it's probably the easiest of the 4. After that it's a lot easier to forget to do them after their lengthy play period and there's not as much incentive to do them since it beat the threshold so easily. Those factors will compound on themselves.

I was wondering if the drop offs were from raid fatigue setting in for a lot of players. Constantly doing these raids with no knowledge of whether or not you even hit the threshold until a few days before it ends would be exhausting after awhile even if the reward at the end is extremely desirable like a previously unreleased shiny legendary.

I think it's just boredom.
There's no real challenge, the rewards are kinda whatever (most players at this point drown in money and TM items as well as herbas and whatnot).
You're literally just spamming the raid for no reason and at some point you ask yourself "ok but why".

And I can totally relate. I did Wo-chien twice then I went "ok but why am I even bothering?". I've done the other two once just for the sake of saying "yep i did it", but there's just... no reason to bother.

Feels like once more TPCI hasn't quite realized what makes a live service "interesting". Expecially when even if they failed the deadline... lol you think they'd really go "btw you failed the Chi-You amount, no shiny for you :)".

I mean they still got over 2 million things when their expectations were 1 million so I think they consider this a success even if most people just do it once for the rewards and to contribute a +1

Oh I know, it was just in response to "why are the numbers dropping".

Ofc they are, outside of the novelty of doing it once, there's little incentive to repeat it. In the end even if people just do it "once each" that's probably way more than 1m kills on its own, without need of any repeat.

Boy would it be nice if they just kept this train going on releasing all those locked shinies, but I suspect if they do this again it'll only be for the raidons. Maybe as a last good bye before Gen 10 hits?
I’d take that, but mannnnnnnn, shiny walking wake…I really want it! XD

Since Chi-Yu runs a plain Fire/Dark set, I went for a solo Azumarill OHKO here to make it a bit more exciting than just a raw slugfest. It gets a bit tight to fit everything in, but Chi-Yu's script is pretty vulnerable to debuffs and is frontloaded so there's plenty of time to set up and style on it.

+6 252+ Atk Mystic Water Huge Power Tera Water Azumarill Atk Cheer Liquidation vs. Lvl 75 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Fire Chi-Yu in Rain: 8180-9628 (123 - 144.7% of 35x hp boss) -- guaranteed OHKO

(123% * 0.8 shield reduction = ~98.4% damage post-shield)

My strategy was to set Rain Dance T1 to reduce Fire damage overall, go for Mud-Slaps (I went for 4 with the tera charge steal but you could wait until after to start), Rain Dance again, Belly Drum, attack cheer, and finally activate tera Water into Liquidation.

AI Gardevoir's Life Dew supported with healing to lessen the need for heal cheer rolls and misses to successfully Belly Drum. A T1 Leer NPC like Arcanine/Weavile could also reduce the need for an attack cheer with a defense drop instead (and could also be replicated by a lucky Liquidation defense drop instead of Mud-Slap). But more misses are nice to save time and avoid chances of burn/flinch.

(Also my Azumarill was still 252 Defense invested so any other investment would probably help for staying within Belly Drum range.)

Detailed raid script from https://stevecooktu.github.io/sv_raid_lookup/ before the night ends. Chi-Yu rounds out to a flat 5 minutes/300 seconds once again, with a very early but not instant shield worth 30% HP.

The 35x HP multiplier (6650) makes up for its smaller base, which ends up with more raw HP than Wo-Chien (5875) and Chien-Pao (5700) though still less than a 20x HP Ting-Lu (6800).

Overall as mentioned, this is pretty light on early scripted actions and only one late debuff reset, even with the usual 50% double attack rate starting after 40% HP it seems reasonable to shut Chi-Yu down offensively early on.

First clear, here's the set

:sv/Roaring Moon:
Roaring Moon @ Shell Bell
Tera Type: Ground
-Earthquake
-Snarl
-Dragon Dance
-Roost/Crunch

Started from the premise of "resists both STAB + outpaces Chi-Yu" and built from there. You start by spamming Snarl, building that Tera Charge while weakening CY enough to farm the benefits of that defensive typing. Chi-Yu is frail enough that you only really need one Dragon Dance to do sufficient damage with EQ, which you go for after the first stat reset. Obviously Moon gets hit a lot harder during the late game but as long as you don't roll Arboliva as a partner you should get just enough back with Shell Bell to tough out the 1v1. I ended up not using Roost, so you could alternatively run Crunch in the last slot to fish for Def drops (use for attacks 3 and/or 4). Shell Bell is probably necessary in solo raids so you don't waste too many turns healing, but online you can use Covert Cloak to avoid burns, Soft Sand to boost EQ damage or possible Sitrus in case you can hit by Ruination.

:Araquanid: has been serving me well online. Hits hard with Water Bubble Liquidation, and using Entrainment on the boss to remove Beads Of Ruin while giving Water Bubble to allies has been great support. Since Heat Wave and Flamethrower can Burn, passing on Water Bubble even removes said Burn, saving the need to Heal Cheer if everyone’s HP is full enough. Also running Skitter Smack and Rain Dance for extra support.

Sylveon and water tera type. Metronome and tera blast. We won and were triumphant.

Of course, the two Kyogres and the Walking Wake spamming rain dance, water spout and Hydro steam might have had something to do with it…
