Welcome to the fourth annual World Cup of Randbats! The field has been winnowed from 18 teams to 8, and it’s time for them to duke it out in the playoffs. Team China, after missing playoffs in '24, is back and looking to reestablish their dominance, but they'll have to make it past returning champions Team US Northeast if they want to bring the trophy home again. Teams Oceania, India, and US South have returned to the top 8 as well, and while Team Netherlands-née-Benelux didn't manage to clinch a spot this year, their absence has made room for exciting new contenders in Teams Latin America, United Kingdom, and first-seed Team Canada looking to finally make a name for themselves on the big stage.

Standard Tournament Procedures
Like all other tournaments on Smogon, the World Cup of Randbats will follow the general rules and guidelines. Please read them carefully. Also note that replays are required.

On Ghosting

When spectating WCOR battles, do not ghost. Ask yourself, “Would my comment reveal information that hasn’t already been explicitly revealed in this battle?” Examples of ghosting include commenting on how an unexpectedly fast Pokemon must be holding a Choice Scarf, speculating that the match will be decided by a tera coinflip, etc.

Gen 9 Random Battle (Bo5): Career Ended vs Piyu - i am VERY high on career ended i think hes been improving all around as a pokemon player and has reached a very respectable level. i drafted him in roapl in a tier he had few results for in a heartbeat and was not let down. however. it is Piyu on the other side and he is just outright one of the best gen9 players at the moment i think

Gen 4 predictions

king edgy > anankaios - king edgy is just really good, though I’ve seen some anankaios gaming recently and they can’t be underestimated

O1V7O2X9O > damm u captcha - steven has great momentum and played wonderfully in R1, though perhaps duc’s more agressive playstyle can prevail here since it’s gen 4. Definitely a highlight match

mdill > ksicide but he has to lock in instead of being locked, this is my upset prediction but I believe mdill can bring a solid game to the table

Texas Cloverleaf > pj - TC has better momentum going for them but this seems pretty even

Further predictions: rolling stealth rocks, steelix, dialga, giratina and castform will win you at least one game.

Gen 1 Random Battle: GirlsSeeGhosts vs fatBatman - GSG continues to largely avoid the top half of my pre-tournament PR ranks in RBY with the exception of Tyler and Popo who he did defeat. 9-0 in RBY is still crazy impressive though regardless of favourable draws on paper. Batman also did well in a significantly harder pool but I'll be surprised if 9 does not become a perfect 10. Clear 60/40 which in RBY is fairly substantial

mdill > ksicide but he has to lock in instead of being locked, this is my upset prediction but I believe mdill can bring a solid game to the table

Gen 9 Random Battle (Bo5): Career Ended vs Piyu - i am VERY high on career ended i think hes been improving all around as a pokemon player and has reached a very respectable level. i drafted him in roapl in a tier he had few results for in a heartbeat and was not let down. however. it is Piyu on the other side and he is just outright one of the best gen9 players at the moment i think

Gen 8 Random Battle: TheHorrorHare vs Master Chief - where the hell is zap... chief is in solid shape
Gen 7 Random Battle: Click>Think vs RaJ.Shoot - didnt know this guy at all pretour but definitely seems in better shape than raj rn
Gen 6 Random Battle: yerdunc vs Vioz - two VERY good and underrated players, happy they both showed some insane stuff in R1, i expect very high quality gameplay likely decided by teamgen diff or by one well-placed crucial read for either side

Gen 4 Random Battle: Texas Cloverleaf vs pj - wouldve bet money on pj doing well pretournament but luckily i am not a betting man. idk whats up with him but given R1 i have to bold opp

Gen 2 Random Battle: Rage vs kingofking - india finally figured out the secret to fixing their oldgen slots: just slot one of your infinite fairygen goats in them, they'll do fine enough. as long as king doesnt get jumpscared by some niche mechanic (have you guys told him about present?) or awful teamgen he should have this
Gen 1 Random Battle: GirlsSeeGhosts vs fatBatman - on paper, canadas strongest slot vs indias weakest. the batman did 3-1 in R1 so fair play to him, but im gonna need to see more before i fully believe that hes leveled up compared to past performances

Gen 9 Random Double Battle: Karthik vs zuzhouwawa - wawa is having a pretty insane year results wise, gotta back them here

Gen 7 Random Battle: Hacker vs ZowwyCafé♪ - zowwy went 5-0 but hacker went 4-1 and is hacker, so i bold him. will definitely need to see more of zowwycafé in tournaments though, that R1 was a fire introduction to the scene

Gen 5 Random Battle: flameingpigey2 vs dragonitenb - pigey has slowed down a bit from the ridiculous hot streak across last wcor+rbtt cycle, but should still overall be better
Gen 4 Random Battle: mdill97 vs ksicide - ksicide struggled round 1 but he's a veteran of this slot, i still back him ahead of someone rather unproven in the other slot. its gen4 anyways, flip a coin
Gen 3 Random Battle: Xrn vs Indulge in dreams - very much could go either way, xrn has high highs and low lows while indulge is more consistent. if xrn has a good breakfast and is well energized on the day of the game he will take it
Gen 2 Random Battle: Stories vs Yuudachi0811 - i think stories is very good, yuudachi is not far behind
Gen 1 Random Battle: royzin vs cscl - like a 60-40 edge, royzin is a bit better at finding that sharp edge of aggression through predictions and riding it
