Supportive Red Card
(Chimecho) @ Red Card
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Electric / Normal / Grass
EVs: 252 Hp, 252 Spe, 4 SpD,
Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
- Heal Bell
- Ally Switch
- Psychic
- Heal Pulse/Protect
The humble Chimecho, here from its ZU rated origins to try and make it big in Doubles OU. Crazy, right? However, with some finesse, Chimecho can be an excellent supportive Pokémon to make your opponent quake in their boots. This set is something that absolutely requires a solid partner to make up for its weaknesses, and it especially appreciates certain normal types like Ursaluna or Ursaluna-Bloodmoon that can make up for its dark weaknesses and boast an immunity on ghost types. The main idea of this set is to catch your opponent off guard with ally switch and have Chimecho take the non effective attack while its partner takes what could've been a OHKO. After that? Its just positioning

- Heal bell helps Chimecho support its teammates even if they are not on the field, proving a powerful counter to some toxic stall sets (Amoongus), if Chimecho is alive, of course.
- Ally Switch helps Chimecho get the most out of its frail defense and Special Defense, switching up the type matchups on the opponents in order to make use out of that red card.
- Psychic allows it to make use on its middling special attack in certain cases where it would be advantageous, such as with Hisuian Sneasler or Amoongus, both top OU picks for different reasons, as well as prevent struggling from taunt.
- Heal pulse, of course, allows a steady source of regen for its partner Pokémon, and there isn't much else to say about it. You can also switch out heal pulse for psychic if you want to and confuse your opponent with a mix of Ally switches and protect
- Almost all of the tera types you could use would need to be defensive, as Chimecho is a very frail Pokémon. Electric tera type allows it to make full use of levitate, giving it a myriad of resistances, Normal tera type allows it to counter ghost type moves completely and gives a resistance to dark type attacks, and Grass tera is for Sleep power. Sleep power specifically, as it would shut down your only source of status recovery entirely.
- Its best to send it out with a good partner Pokémon, preferably not the Pokémon that is statused, just to prevent it from being statused again. . Its best to keep it in after red carding in order to prevent your opponent from repositioning into the exact same Pokémon. However, if he does, you should probably switch out.
- Normal types are heavily appreciated, as well as a wall to tank anything you might encounter. As said before, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon and regular Ursaluna are both top picks for partners, as they resist dark and are immune to ghost. Ursaluna-Bloodmoon especially, as it can hit ghost types with minds eye
