hey! what ARENT ya listenin’ to, hotshot? (no embedded videos please)

the archetypical bad video game song is the mansion basement theme from resident evil director's cut - dualshock edition. it's a really funny kind of bad and the story behind the song's composer is nuts.
tl;dr composer mamoru samuragochi pretended to be deaf and hired takashi niigaki as a ghostwriter for his work, and using this fake resume he was brought on as a composer for RE director's cut dualshock edition, replacing the well-respected og ones. he was eventually exposed as a fraud and was ousted from the industry. at the very least niigaki became a respected composer himself

On the subject of dads, mine told me about the time a radio dj was obligated to play a popular song he hated. He decided to barricade himself in the booth and play it on repeat until he was physically removed, saying stuff like "Wasn't that great? Let's hear it ONE MORE TIME!" after each round. After about five plays, you could hear his boss screaming and banging on the door over the music. He made it to eight loops before being dragged away.

I cannot verify this story, but if any of you old heads were around Philly around when the song came out, let me know.
The song was Frank and Moon Zappa - Valley Girl.

I've also had Doin' Your Mom stuck in my head for a while and it's fun to listen to once but I can't escape it and it's terrible

Was having this discussion with my friend last night and here’s two more:

Midnight Rider - Allman Brothers
Champagne Taste - Earth Kitt

I had a job where we had a playlist that was like, an hour and a half long. So I would hear the same songs like 4 times a shift. These two were the ones that annoyed me the most. Tbh Midnight Rider would normally be inoffensive but hearing it so much killed me. But I do think Champagne Taste is an objectively annoying song.
