Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 244 HP / 88 Def / 116 SpA / 60 SpD
Modest Nature

[SET COMMENTS]
* Will-O-Wisp and a Sitrus Berry allow Volcanion to turn the tables against Urshifu-S, a common Pokemon other Volcanion sets are not as consistent against.
* Overheat and Steam Eruption are necessary on all Volcanion sets as primary STAB moves.
* Sludge Wave allows Volcanion to be consistent against most Fairy-types, especially the likes of Primarina and Azumarill, which resist both of its STAB moves.
* The Defense investment allows Volcanion to survive two Close Combats from Adamant Choice Band Urshifu thanks to Sitrus Berry's recovery and a burn from Will-O-Wisp. With the additional Special Defense investment, Modest Choice Specs Iron Valiant also fails to OHKO Volcanion with Thunderbolt.
* To defeat the Urshifu formes, use Will-O-Wisp and then attack with either Sludge Wave against Urshifu-R or Steam Eruption against Urshifu-S. It should be noted that Urshifu-R usually defeats this Volcanion set with Choice Band Low Kick, but this sequence gives good chances against other sets like IronPress and Assault Vest.
* Make sure to swap moves between turns when against a potential Encore + Disable user like Iron Valiant or Alolan Ninetales. Otherwise, Volcanion will end up locked into a disabled move with Encore and forced to use Struggle. To avoid this fate, use Sludge Wave followed by Steam Eruption against Iron Valiant and Overheat followed by Sludge Wave against Alolan Ninetales.
* Volcanion is an excellent teammate for many high-tier Pokemon that struggle against Steel- or Fairy-types like Iron Valiant, Alolan Ninetales, Urshifu-S, Annihilape, and Garchomp. In return, these Pokemon can cover various top threats that Volcanion doesn't usually defeat such as Pecharunt, Hoopa-U, Ursaluna, Raging Bolt, and Hisuian Goodra.

* Make sure to swap moves between turns when against a potential Encore + Disable user like Iron Valiant or Alolan Ninetales. Use the most powerful move first—Overheat against Alolan Ninetales or Sludge Wave against Iron Valiant—before swapping to a move that can 2HKO them. Otherwise, Volcanion will end up with this move disabled and will then be forced to use Struggle once Encore is used by the foe.

Overheat is still stronger than Sludge Wave into Valiant. There's something that should probably be said here about how accuracy of moves plays into this.

(As discussed on disc, this doesn't win vs rapid strike. Slower donphan is probably worth mentioning but ill leave that to you)
* Overheat and Steam Eruption are necessary on all Volcanion sets as primary STAB moves.
* Sludge Wave allows Volcanion to be consistent into most Fairy-types, especially the likes of Primarina and Azumarill that resist both of its STAB moves.

Please let me know if I made a mistake.) like Iron Valiant, Alolan Ninetales, Urshifu-S, Annihilape, and Garchomp. In return, these Pokemon can cover various top threats that Volcanion doesn't usually defeat such as Pecharunt, Hoopa-U, Ursaluna, or and various Dragon-types. (any examples?)
