Introduction

Was good yall, just wanted to share a team we have been working on that revolves around SubCM Keldeo as the main sweeper. I’ve always loved Keldeo, and with the right support it can really shine as a bulky setup sweeper. Thanks to Coach Savouras for teaching me team building techniques and working with me through keldeos ev spread and Synergies, so to support it, we paired :keldeo: with a strong offensive pivot like Choice band :Dragapult:, a defensive backbone being :Slowking Galar: + :Zapdos:, and classic utility in :Great Tusk:. Finally, :Kingambit: serves as the secondary late-game cleaner to round things out. You'll find yourself a lot of the time being able to lead keldeo and causing havoc early game, so much so you will tend to debate whether or not to tera early just to sweep or clean whatever's needed for pult gambit victory. The general gameplan is to pivot around with U-turn, wear things down with chip, and set up either :Keldeo: or :Kingambit: to sweep. Though Pult does perform like lebreon james and puts the team on his back. :Keldeo: really thrives against the more bulkier offensive teams we see in the meta

Team building Process

IMG_8817.jpeg
:Keldeo:(The Origin)
Trunks’ Resolve (Keldeo) @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 216 HP / 140 SpA / 152 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Secret Sword
- Surf

Keldeo is a threat to the meta. Substitute lets it block status and ease prediction against Pokemon like :raging bolt: and uses known crutches like :Kingambit: as set up fodder, Calm Mind boosts it into scary territory, and Steel Tera flips Fairy/Grass matchups on their head allowing it to set up in front of common threats like AV :slowking Galar: @ +3 it doesn't brake sub with flamethrower, :Hatterene: cannot nuzzle us so stuck using psychic noise to combat which after enough boost and tera steel keldeo will nuke, :clefable: if not unaware. At a +2 :gholdengo: shadow ball does not break sub and bulky set dont break after 1 calm mind. Keldeo 2 shots :primarina: after a plus 2 with secret sword. Keldeo punishes bulky cores like :Alomomola: + :weezing Galar: Secret Sword + Surf covers almost everything. hazard stack teams with :Glimmora: usually gets treated as set up fodder being able to sub on a sludge wave and calm mind to nuke without activating red card. Similar situation with :Araquanid: webs, leading keldeo to sub in its face is crippling to a web team sometimes sweeping 6-0. keldeo can 2hko opposing :dragapult: after a +1 and at a +2 you one shot :ogerpon wellspring: with ️ secret sword. Banded :Rillaboom: gets 2hko at a +1. and at a +3 u 2hko water absorb :clodsire: With enough chip from its teammates, this thing snowballs quickly.

:Dragapult: (The Pressure Cooker)
Ascended Phantom (Dragapult) @ Choice Band
Ability: Clear Body
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Tera Blast
- Dragon Darts
- U-turn
- Psychic Fangs

Dragapult applies insane offensive pressure. Choice band Dragon Darts is consistent chip, U-turn forces switches, and Psychic fang punishes walls like tusk/weezing G, removes screens, and also one shots :iron valiant:. Tera + Tera Blast nukes checks when needed. Its blistering Speed tier makes sure the team doesn’t fold to faster offensive squads. Surprised me honestly, tera blast ghost can 2hko common defense threats like :Corviknight:, :weezing galar:, :Alomomola:, :moltres:,and :Landorus Therian:. Even against that new spec :darkrai: team pult has a 43% chance in 1 shotting with dragon darts. My favorite part is the unpredictability of pult. Its hard to determine if physical or special when you opponent has no info so be wise on how u spam u-turn and where.

:Slowking Galar: (The Glue)
Kami’s Vision (Slowking-Galar) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Sludge Bomb
- Chilly Reception
- Trick
- Psyshock

We all know what this fat fella does. Gking is a massive special wall with Regen making it durable, Chilly Reception pivots into breakers, and Trick black sludge punishes fat walls like :Garganacl:, :Ting Lu: ,or :Kingambit: sometimes even :darkrai: switch ins. Psyshock covers the :iron moth: matchup, and Sludge Bomb checks Fairies like :Enamorus: special :iron valiant: and allows u to slow pivot off :Glimmora: Water Tera gives it a nice defensive pivot option against sun teams depending on :walking Wake: being booster speed or “Double Specs”. And if wake is double specs then :dragapult: will have a kill streak coming. Gking really is like the “glue” that keeps everything else stable.

:Kingambit: (Luck Factor)
Crutch Gambit (Kingambit) @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 156 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Kowtow Cleave
- Swords Dance

Time for a little “No Skill” from the make a wish foundation. Crutch Gambit Ev spread allows it to tank hits(trust I witnessed him tank a tera blast fighting from :Cresselia: here) better at a cost of speed but enough speed to out run :Clefable: and other fat threats like :Iron Hands:. Supreme Overlord ensures it always threatens a comeback, Flying Tera dodges Fighting/Ground revenge killers, and helps with :Zapdos: being the only flyer. The Original thought was low kick over Kowtow but seemed like gambit thrives more consistently With Cleave punishing late game after :Keldeo: softens the opposition, Crutch Gambit holds his throne well.

:Zapdos: (The Anchor)
Raijin Kaiōken (Zapdos) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- U-turn
- Hurricane
- Discharge
- Roost

Zapdos checks physical attackers, pivots with U-turn, and provides reliable recovery. Static punishes contact moves which can be huge against certain threats like physical :iron valiant: both body press and 4atk :zamazenta: and of course spin punisher on :great tusk: and :iron treads:. Hurricane + Discharge spread status and chip, and Grass Tera flips matchup vs :Ogerpon Wellspring:. I found in most games when lacking raging bolt hurricanes felt free…when they connect it feels game changing. Its role is crucial in keeping the team’s defensive backbone intact.

:Great Tusk: (The Truck)
Wrath of Broly (Great Tusk) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin

Hazard setter + remover in one slot. Booster energy for massive damage or Rocky Helmet to insure chip on mons like :kingambit:. Rocks pressure switch-ins for :Keldeo: :kinGambit: and :dragapult: to clean up, Headlong Rush is the main nuke, and Ice Spinner to punish things like :Dragonite: :gliscor: Tera Fairy lets negate dragon attacks…idk for some reason banded :Dragonite: was being spammed also surprises :kyurem: from dropping dracos without a fairy immunity.

Threats

  • Physical pressure: (:Rillaboom:, :Meowscarada:, :dragonite:, atk boost :Great Tusk:, Physical :Iron Valiant:, Electric :Zamazenta: )Can pressure :Zapdos: if weakened. Best odds are going on the offensive with pult and applying pressure back.
  • Bulky Unaware: (:Dondozo:, :Clefable:, :Clodsire:) Forces :Keldeo: into a stand still and gives opening for :dragapult: and :great tusk: to break instead
  • Hazard stack: If Tusk gets worn down without you going on the offensive, Spikes + Rocks can overwhelm.
  • Screens Setters: Somewhat a bad matchup but more annoying if you run into the screens team with Unaware :clefable: pult helps resolve that matchup.
