Slate 3: More Defense !?

while not the focus, the current suggestion is to expand on the defensive roles of the metagame to help relieve the strain on checking certain mons from lindwallow so it can run more expansive roles.

Ideas on what you could submit:
Fire Resist
Electric Resist
Poison Resist
Fairy Resist
Dark Type
Grassy Surge User
Another ground (defensive focus)
Another dragon (defensive focus)

While these shouldn’t be followed like gospel, it is really just a simplistic list of things that could easily not be restrictive and help fill out the metas list of core founding mons to guide future submissions to create an interesting and interactive environment.

Since it is only the third slate, it is still a general slate so submit up to 3 of (almost) whatever you’d like!

Be sure to join the Discord if you haven’t already, and make sure to reference the Spreadsheet when submitting.

Viable Moves:

Volt Tackle, Dragon Claw, Fire Fang, Knock Off, Brave Bird, Dual Wingbeat.
Special.png
Volt Switch, Fire Blast(?)
Status.png
Thunder Wave, Roost, Roar, Protect.
Attract, Endure, Facade, Helping Hand, Protect, Rest, Sleep Talk, Substitute, Snore, Take Down, Tera Blast, Toxic, Hidden Power, Thunder Shock, Charge Beam, Electroweb, Shock Wave, Rising Voltage, Volt Switch, Discharge, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Thunder Fang, Thunder Punch, Wild Charge, Supercell Slam, Volt Tackle, Thunder Wave, Charge, Eerie Impulse, Electric Terrain, Ion Deluge, Dragon Rage, Twister, Dragon Breath, Dragon Pulse, Draco Meteor, Dragon Tail, Dragon Claw, Dragon Rush, Dragon Cheer, Gust, Air Cutter, Air Slash, Hurricane, Peck, Pluck, Wing Attack, Dual Wingbeat, Acrobatics, Brave Bird, Roost, Feather Dance, Scratch, Crush Claw, Body Slam, Egg Bomb, Double-Edge, Echoed Voice, Hyper Voice, Roar, Bite, Crunch, Knock Off, Fire Fang, Flamethrower, Heat Wave, Fire Blast, Steel Wing, Rain Dance, Water Pulse.
Flavor: Comes from a similar lineage as Lindwallow, somehow.
Weight: 26 kg.
Explanation of Role: Slow Pivot / Specially Defensive Dragon.
Lindwallow gets to relieve himself of his worldly sufferings with this slightly smaller, more Specially-Defensive Dragon that does the Resisting. Does spdef things along with clicking Roost and Twave to keep up its otherwise middling stats. Purposefully made 5 speed slower than Lindwallow so it has to invest to get the jump on it speed-wise, and it can't really kill with its low Attack stat. Though it can handle Glashrimp well.

Pokemon: Volkapi
Type:

Abilities: Magma Armor / Flame Body // Oblivious
Stats

Attract, Endure, Facade, Helping Hand, Protect, Rest, Sleep Talk, Substitute, Snore, Take Down, Tera Blast, Toxic, Hidden Power, Mud-Slap, Mud Shot, Mud Bomb, Scorching Sands, Earth Power, Sand Tomb, Stomping Tantrum, High Horsepower, Earthquake, Spikes, Sand Attack, Ember, Incinerate, Flame Burst, Burning Jealousy, Flamethrower, Heat Wave, Fire Blast, Overheat, Burn Up, Flame Charge, Fire Fang, Temper Flare, Flare Blitz, Ancient Power, Power Gem, Rock Throw, Rock Tomb, Rock Slide, Sandstorm, Trailblaze, Headbutt, Stomp, Strength, Body Slam, Double-Edge, Curse, Low Kick, Double Kick, Iron Head,
Flavor: lol ground-weak ground Mon. Lore-wise it's like a fossil revived by the fucked up effects of Lindwallow's mud, but mixed with some embers, and now looks like a weird girafarig-camerupt fusion.
Weight: 86.2 kg
Explanation of Role: Physical Wall / Hazard Setter (spikes).
so, Defensive Ground + Defensive fire.. Another fire probably won't hurt and this one carries more of a defensive role compared to Tempestra. It also has a silly move in Burn Up if it ever wants to cut its fire weakness, at the cost of losing STAB. can set up hazards.

Pokemon: Mollywop

Abilities: Long Reach / Steadfast | HA: Sand Spit
Stats: 150 HP / 90 Atk / 44 Def / 80 Def / 54 SpD / 80 Spe | BST: 498
Viable Moves:
Physical.png
Earthquake, Rapid Spin, Body Press, Knock Off, Drain Punch, Superpower, High Jump Kick, Big Slap*
Special.png
Earth Power, Focus Blast, Heat Wave, Shadow Ball, Grass Knot, Scorching Sands, Vacuum Wave
Status.png
Cotton Guard, Pain Split, Rest, Sleep Talk, Taunt
Type: Fighting
Category: Physical
BP: 130
PP: 8
Accuracy : 100%
Flags: Contact
Effect: Cannot be used consecutively
Reasoning: Nice alternative Fighting STAB
Full Movepool:
Aforementioned moves + Attract, Arm Thrust, Facade, Stomping Tantrum, Rock Throw, Bounce, Sandstorm, Coaching, Psywave, Rototiller, Slash, Work Up, Wake Up Slap, Double Slap, Tera Blast, Helping Hand + Gen 9 Universal Moves
Flavor (Optional): It's a giant dust bunny that uses it's ears to fight
Weight: 0.9 kg
Explanation of Role: Imagine if Great Tusk existed in a metagame where it isn't allowed to be the "Tier Sovereign". Here it will serve as the reliable form of hazard control that metagame's deserve to have, without monopolizing the role of bulky Ground due to it having a lot of flaws, both intrinsic to the Mon and in context with the metagame at large (extremely unoptimized bulk + speed typing with something that utterly beats it). Sand Spit can be seen as a niche at setting sand, but it's obviously easier said than done, and should be viewed as potential chip more than anything else.

Pokemon: Mercuroid
Type:
Electric.png
Dragon.png

Abilities: Magician / Volt Absorb | HA: Heavy Metal
Stats: 85 HP / 75 Atk / 80 Def / 70 SpA / 90 SpD / 85 Spe | BST: 485
Viable Moves:
Physical.png
Supercell Slam, Iron Head, Wild Charge, Thunder Punch, Poison Jab, Heavy Slam, Liquidation, Earthquake
Special.png
Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, Discharge, Hidden Power, Volt Switch, Acid Spray, Thunder, Electro Shot, Sludge Bomb
Status.png
Iron Defense, Toxic, Thunder Wave, Stealth Rock, Magnet Rise, Rest, Sleep Talk
Full Movepool:
Aforementioned moves + Attract, Facade, Thunder Shock, Body Slam, Metal Burst, Steel Beam, Charge Beam, Metal Sound, Rain Dance, Steel Roller, Uproar, Electric Terrain, Eerie Impulse, Metal Sound, Electroweb, Sandstorm, Tera Blast + Gen 9 Universal Moves
Flavor (Optional): It's a pool of mercury with a slightly humanoid being halfway out of it. It has Tesla coils on its head with sparks in the puddle.
Weight: 470 kg
Explanation of Role: Steel Electric is a good defensive typing, and Mercuroid utilzied it well as a solid defensive pivot that can set Stealth Rocks and can do some cheeky things like Magician + Electro Shot to steal items or crazy Rain stuff if you are into that.

Pokemon: Craconut
Type:
Electric.png
Dragon.png

Abilities: Heatproof / Weak Armor | HA: Leaf Guard
Stats: 59 HP / 93 Atk / 131 Def / 77 SpA / 96 SpD / 34 Spe | BST: 490
Viable Moves:
Physical.png
Crabhammer, Wood Hammer, Waterfall, Seed Bomb, Superpower, Knock Off, Aqua Jet, Trailblaze
Special.png
Surf, Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Hydro Pump, Flash Cannon, Chilling Water
Status.png
Leech Seed, Synthesis, Iron Defense, Haze, Swords Dance, Rest, Sleep Talk
Full Movepool:
Aforementioned moves + Attract, Facade, Stomping Tantrum, Pollen Puff, Aqua Ring, Withdraw, Whirlpool, Soak, Rain Dance, Razor Shell, Brine, Bubble Beam, Vine Whip, Bullet Seed, Leafage, Grassy Glide, Grassy Terrain, Tera Blast + Gen 9 Universal Moves
Flavor (Optional): Everything evolves into Crab right? Ok, so imagine if even the Coconuts try their hand at that. It's a Coconut that developed multiple crab like features.
Weight: 35 kg
Explanation of Role: We have a Grass type, but my thing is, it's it's frail as hell physically. So I wanted to create a physically defensive Grass. I also wanted a very different take on a bulky Water than what we have right now. So it's physically bulky, has reliable recovery has passable SpD and can just do a pretty decent job in the tier as a check for a multitude of Pokémon here. A Fire check was desired so I went with this. It switches into Fire moves nicely, even if it fears the Electric move.

Burning Bulwark, Will-O-Wisp, Amnesia, Stealth Rock, Tar Shot
Full Movepool: Ember, Harden, Rock Throw, Low Kick, Body Press, Flame Charge, Flare Blitz, Earthquake, Zen Headbutt, Rock Slide, Stone Edge, Magma Storm, Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Heat Wave, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Overheat, Shadow Ball, Solar Beam, Earth Power, Scorching Sands, Psychic, Psyshock, Expanding Force, Power Gem, Burning Bulwark, Will-O-Wisp, Amnesia, Stealth Rock, Tar Shot, Reversal, Temper Flare, Heat Crash, Rock Tomb, Rock Blast, Smack Down, Heat Wave, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Burning Jealousy, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, Curse, Attract, Endure, Facade, Helping Hand, Protect, Rest, Sleep Talk, Substitute, Snore, Take Down, Tera Blast, Toxic, Hidden Power
Flavor: Rheat'A is a Rhenium Pokémon that can be found deep underneath Lindwurm's swamp, coming out to ensure that the mud dries up on a sunny day for other Pokémon to thrive in. Each of the crystals on it's back is hot enough to melt a tree into a pile of goo in microseconds, but it is somewhat dim witted, often thinking that an object needs to be heated up when really it's not!
Weight: 131.4 kg.
Explanation of Role: This Fire/Rock sweeper utilizes the sun to keep his engines going, and his typing resists Fire, Poison, and Fairy, as well as the occasional Normal-type. Just be careful, though...even with Sturdy, this thing is allergic to Lindwurm's Earthquakes.
OL9IE5M.png

Pokemon: Mammeh (Mammoth + Meh)
Type:
normal.gif
dark.gif

Abilities: Unaware/Fur Coat/Own Tempo
Stats: 104/75/60/93/80/75 (487)
Viable Moves:
Physical.png
Pursuit, Knock Off, Throat Chop, Wild Charge, Earthquake, Body Slam, Smart Strike, Iron Head, Hard Press
Special.png
Powder Snow, Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Solar Beam, Earth Power, Scorching Sands, Hyper Voice, Flash Cannon
Status.png
Taunt, Nasty Plot, Snowscape
Full Movepool: Horn Attack, Torment, Odor Sleuth, Pursuit, Knock Off, Throat Chop, Wild Charge, Earthquake, Body Slam, Smart Strike, Iron Head, Hard Press, Powder Snow, Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Solar Beam, Earth Power, Scorching Sands, Hyper Voice, Flash Cannon, Taunt, Nasty Plot, Snowscape, Lash Out, Stomping Tantrum, Snarl, Uproar, Encore, Attract, Endure, Facade, Helping Hand, Protect, Rest, Sleep Talk, Substitute, Snore, Take Down, Tera Blast, Toxic, Hidden Power
Flavor: Before Lindwurm's swamp became the swamp it is today, it was populated by what some scientists claim is the most successful of the mammoth Pokémon. After Lindwurm took over and exterminated all the snow in the area, this Pokémon became a shell of it's former self in shame, it's frozen genes sealed away to the deepest parts of it's mind. This Pokémon is a total emo, having no emotions of any kind, and spends most of the time standing in one spot without a care in the world, and if it can find a good excuse to ignore it's trainer's commands, it will. But if it is forced to fight, Mammeh will blow on it's trunk, creating sound waves that can remove all personality from anyone that hears them in an instant.
Weight: 72.4 kg.
Explanation of Role: This classic setup sweeper with access to STAB Hyper Voice has a hidden party trick in the form of Powder Snow, which is very effective against Lindwurms even with it's low power. Just be careful, though, because Lindwurm knows Brick Break for a good reason.

Full Movepool: Absorb, String Shot, Conversion, Mega Drain, Rapid Spin, Conversion 2, Petal Dance, U-Turn, Leech Life, Skitter Smack, Foul Play, Knock Off, Throat Chop, Wild Charge, Supercell Slam, Acrobatics, Seed Bomb, Grassy Glide, Rising Voltage, Bug Buzz, Charge Beam, Volt Switch, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Solar Beam, Sticky Web, Toxic Spikes, Toxic, Thunder Wave, Charm, Bug Bite, X-Scissor, Lash Out, Fling, Trailblaze, Solar Blade, Petal Blizzard, Struggle Bug, Pollen Puff, Electroweb, Grass Knot, Magical Leaf, Electric Terrain, Grassy Terrain, Sunny Day, Attract, Endure, Facade, Helping Hand, Protect, Rest, Sleep Talk, Substitute, Snore, Take Down, Tera Blast, Hidden Power
Flavor: Based off the Hibiscus moscheutos, M05ch3u705 used to be a lazy aphid that could be found on the trees of Lindwurm's swamp, feeding on leaves ever so innocently. However, exposure to modern technology has turned M05ch3u705 into an absolute hacker, capable of overwriting databases with programs that depict falling flowers in seconds, and it's personality took a 360 degree turn, being a cheerful fellow who's always full of zest. The hoodie it wears is said to be made from the shedded mud of Lindwurm, and is streamlined enough to hide M05ch3u705's identity from those that would dare to oppose it. Owing to it's adorable nature, this species is female only!
Weight: 2.4 kg.
Explanation of Role: This Grass/Bug supporter with Grassy Surge surprises everyone by also having access to Electric Surge as well. She can easily support Pokémon with access to Grass and Electric STAB moves, as well as giving her a third STAB herself, abeit one that has no effect on Lindwurm. She also has access to Sticky Web!

Pokémon: Ryoar (Ryu + Oarfish + Roar)
Type: Water / Dragon
Abilities: Intimidate / Pressure (H)
Stats: 80/100/114/67/64/57 (482)
Movepool: Hydro Pump, Surf, Muddy Water, Brine, Water Pulse, Whirlpool, Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Breath, Twister, Earth Power, Rising Voltage, Electroweb, Hurricane, Hyper Beam, Uproar, Echoed Voice, Aqua Tail, Liquidation, Flip Turn, Aqua Jet, Outrage, Dragon Tail, Supercell Slam, Earthquake, Bulldoze, Magnitude, Rock Tomb, Heavy Slam, Giga Impact, Double Edge, Body Slam, Facade, Rain Dance, Life Dew, Aqua Ring, Dragon Cheer, Coil, Thunder Wave, Stealth Rock, Defog, Rest, Light Screen, Screech, Leer, Substitute, Sleep Talk, Protect
Flavor/Role: Based on an Oarfish, who are mythologically the messengers of Dragons, justifying the typing. They are also associated with natural disasters, notably Earthquakes. Intimidate comes from its bright red crest. Has really great physical bulk boosted by Intimidate, but poor speed and unreliable recovery. Can hit the Sovereign extremely hard with Outrage, but needs to rely on a low spatk Draco or a weak Dtail if you don't want to lock in to a move that will undoubtedly get you revenge killed since Ryoar is specially very frail. Supercell Slam ensures you aren't completely walled by Glashrimp, but then if you use it poorly Lindwallow can get in for free and you take recoil. Earthquake gives an option to hit Reoozeiclus. It also has the tools to do some hazard control if needed.
Weight: 350 kg.

Flavor: The court jester who does funny tricks and annoys people
Weight: 9 kg

Explanation of Role: Local class clown whose main role is to be disruptive. Plays similarly to Sableye but has enough Special bulk where it can take on resists like Tempesra and Reooziclus. Very limited in ways of dealing damage though, given akward STABs to work with and generally middling offensive stats. The jester folds to the sovereign also.

And now since the mod is mostly coded, this doesn’t mean anything right now but.

SLATE 4

Ideas of what to sub (not gospel):

  • Offensive or Defensive ice checked by sovereign complements (and sovereign to an extent)
  • More sovereign complements (Steels and Ice Resists)
  • Grassy Terrain to complement sovereigns non eq stabs and help provide chip healing
  • A bug or rock type to help fill out the type versatility
  • More Fires, Waters and Grasses
  • Swords Dance / Nasty Plot booster to utilize our newfound unaware, also to capitalize on Lindwallow scale shot passing
As most ideas are for right now, they are more of a thought exercise on what would do good for the meta by the time it is fully playable, to create interesting roles that support or strive to beat the sovereign in its own way.

You are allowed up to 3 submissions as per usual
Be sure to join the Discord if you haven’t already, and make sure to reference the Spreadsheet when submitting.

Flavor: How did Lindwurm become the Tier Sovereign it was today? No-one knows for sure, but there are many theories about it. One theory explains that it became this way because it's egg was raised by an Ascaleet, a Pokémon that makes it's home in snowy mountains, taking in Dragon-type Pokémon eggs who have been separated from their parents and raising them as their own, helping them keep warm with it's slender skin by wrapping around it. Those warmed by this cold skin will grow up into thriving and healthy dragons that are said to always have good luck wherever they go. Should it not be raising any eggs, it will instead hold an Ascaleet egg around it, ensuring that each generation always thrives. This Pokémon is an extremely careful parent, being unable to bring itself to harm any of the Dragons it has raised no matter what, and will often visit them no matter how far away they are, as is the case of it visiting Lindwurm today...but having to face a Dragon it spent so hard raising might be it's downfall in the metagame today.
Weight: 421.4 kg.
Explanation of Role: How does one make a good Ice-type in a metagame where the top Pokémon is 4x weak to Ice? Simple: Give it a crippling drawback that basically makes it unable to harm any Lindwurms at all. It's a powerful all around mixed attacker that can use some status moves such as Toxic and Roar to befuddle it's opponents, but it can simply be walled by sending a Dragon out. You can also change the enemy's type with Soak...then your opponents are in trouble. (But is it really worth the moveslot?)

Flavor: It's said that every time a captain sinks down with their ship, their soul reincarnates as a Napoyag. This Pokémon takes the personality of the captain that became it and amplifies it to the max, making them want nothing more than to conquer other lands and make them part of their territory, doing so with it's cutlass arm that can cut through solid diamond. It tends to prefer areas that are nice and flat and rich in nutrients...which makes Lindwurm's swamp a perfect target for it!
Weight: 43.4 kg.
Explanation of Role: A good ol' Physical setup sweeper that resists a lot of things, but dies easily to Lindwurm's Earthquakes. Watch out for it's Double Iron Bash!

Flavor: weird little fox-ish guy in a Christmas tree poncho that sports berries. Were forced into migration (to.. Lindwallow's domain) from humans cutting down their natural habitats. Lindy respects them though.
Weight: 58.2
Explanation of Role: so imagine, if you will, the 1 ice type. We had to get one eventually, right? something being able to actually conquer the Tier Sovereign (while also incentivizing the usage of actual resists on teams, like Tempesra and Glashrimp/Alrath) will certainly make the meta more stomachable

Pokémon: Mosstoise
Type: Rock
Abilities:
Grassy Surge / Effect Spore (H)
Stats: 74 / 98 / 155 / 61 / 71 / 56 (515)
Important Moves:
Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Grassy Glide, Headlong Rush, Crunch, Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, Synthesis, Stun Spore, Sleep Power, Toxic
Rock Wrecker, Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Rock Throw, Rock Blast, Razor Leaf, Grassy Glide, Headlong Rush, Earthquake, Magnitude, Crunch, Bite, Poison Fang, Skull Bash, Double Edge, Facade, Rapid Spin, Ancient Power, Energy Ball, Giga Drain, Mega Drain, Absorb, Mud Shot, Acid Spray, Uproar, Sandstorm, Wide Guard, Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, Synthesis, Stun Spore, Sleep Power, Grassy Terrain, Poison Powder, Toxic, Shelter, Withdraw, Rest, Sleep Talk, Substitute, Protect
Flavor: a Stone Tortoise that has grown a covering of Moss on its back that protects it from danger with debilitating spores. It isn't a Grass type and its moss covering mostly manifests in having Grass' outstanding status movepool and not in attacks.
Role: very bulky physdef that isn't weak to Earthquake due to Gsurge but isn't a Grass type and is therefore weak to Lindwallow's moves. Spinner.

Pokémon: Fondice
Type: Ice
Abilities: Melt Away
Stats:
50 / 70 / 55 / 125 / 85 / 110 (495)
Important Moves:
Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, Shadow Ball, Hex, Hyper Voice, Snowscape, Calm Mind, Agility, Teleport, Light Screen, Reflect, Taunt
Ice Punch, Icicle Spear, Aqua Cutter, Double Edge, Facade, Blizzard, Ice Beam, Aurora Beam, Icy Wind, Powder Snow, Hydro Pump, Water Pulse, Chilling Water, Shadow Ball, Hex, Hyper Beam, Hyper Voice, Echoed Voice, Calm Mind, Teleport, Agility, Light Screen, Reflect, Rest, Confuse Ray, Taunt, Detect, Confide, Substitute, Sleep Talk, Protect
Melt Away: This pokémon loses 10% of its max HP every time it uses an Ice-Type attack, the effect is increased to 1/6th in Sunny Day and cancelled in Snow.
Flavor: A Pokémon composed of a fragile humanoid body of ice that sticks to the highest mountains and windswept tundras since it will quickly melt away outside of cold environments. It stores cold inside itself to unleash in powerful blasts, but can heat itself up if it uses too much too quickly.
Role: Strong but frail Ice type that suffers heavily from clicking Ice Beam into a resist and lacks the movepool (read: Freeze Dry) to bypass bulky waters, but has great speed and power and can use Hex to hit both Glashrimp and Alrath or Teleport out.
