Hello everyone, an update of the leaderboard has been released.
Thank you to all of you again who participate in this lovely challenge. It has been a lot of fun to spectate the ideas you come across to beat these achievements. As always, this post will showcase the winners since the last update and outline a few small changes moving forward.
But first, I wanted to do something a bit different in presenting you my top five favorite replays of this session of ZULA.
Top 5 best replays
5) Do not forget your volt-absorber

In this replay, two well-known ZU figures face off on the ladder. Risin_glory attempting a mono-Electric ZULA challenge is up against zause piloting his ZUPL team. On paper, zause’s team looks very strong as attested by his decisive win back in Week 7 of the tournament. However, there is one crucial problem. While this team was built for tournament play, it wasn’t designed to beat the creative chaos of ZU ladder challenges. Notably, it carries no Electric immunity. In a shocking turn of events, zause’s team was completely overwhelmed by the sheer voltage of Risin_glory’s six Electric-types. The self-proclaimed Gym Leader remained undefeated and zause will have to try again if he wants to earn the badge.
4) Tropius and Lombre sweep

vs
Playabeavs on the left, czim on the right. You already know this is going to be a good battle. For this ZULA challenge, czim does what he does best in combining multiple challenges into one. This time, he went with Gym Leader Grass + Frozen in Time (Gen 3). At team preview, things looked grim. Not only was he up against a strong player with a solid competitive team, but there was also an Oricorio on the other side. This is a nightmare matchup as it could easily sweep his entire team. But the opposite happened. In an incredible twist, the two weakest members of czim’s team Tropius and Lombre stepped up. Together, they managed to set up and sweep through Playabeavs’s entire team. I think this might be the first time I’ve ever seen Tropius put in that much work against a competent opponent.
3) The good old time

vs
When I added the Good Old Time challenge last week, GSC and ADV immediately stood out to me as the hardest ones. Practically only LC and NFE Pokémon are allowed and only the weakest ones at that. I was convinced these two Gold Challenges would be a brutal task for my challengers. Oh boy, was I wrong. I completely forgot that ZULA legend czim has competitive experience in both GSC and ADV. Not only did he take on the challenge, he made it even harder by
combining them. Yes, you read that right: czim played ZU GSC + ZU ADV on the same team. I was absolutely speechless when I first saw it and thought it had to be a joke. But no, it turns out it’s actually possible to combine these challenges… and even win with them.
2) The double Platinium

vs
Completing a single Platinum challenge can take dozens of attempts. Eternal Trap alone is known to require sometimes over 50 tries. Now imagine completing two Platinum challenges at the same time and against a normal team! That’s exactly what sketchy ecchi did in this replay. He used the famous technique I popularized for this challenge, sketchy combined Jaw Lock to trap themselves and safely boost to +6 in every stat with No Retreat. All that was left was to find a suitable Pokémon to set up on and catch a locked Jolteon to safely Tera Ground. Sketchy even improved on the original strategy by running Magma Storm, giving Smeargle the highest damage output possible to make up for its otherwise weak offensive presence. With this, he was able to comfortably sweep the rest of the team. Thus, sketchy ecchi successfully completed not one but two achievements: Eternal Trap and Diabolical Power.
1) Truly blessed by Arceus

vs
Metronome games are always entertaining but nothing can prepare you for the sheer level of divine intervention on display in this replay. Here we have the Platinum Challenge killer BaitWiz taking on the Metronome challenge against none other than the ZU Masked Hero. Some might call it unlucky to face ZU Masked Hero for a Metronome challenge. After all, his team is packed with setup sweepers that should easily steamroll B8’s team. But who are we, mere mortals, to question the will of Arceus?
From turn one the divine plan is revealed. Victory Dance is summoned immediately as if the God of this world already knew the ending. Then, the slaughter begins:
- Cross Chop is called and one-shots Glalie.
- Psychic Fangs is called and one-shots Minun.
- Smack Down is called and one-shots Vivillon.
- Ceaseless Edge is called and one-shots Hypno.
For a brief moment, it seemed like ZU Masked Hero might finally stop the massacre by setting up with Wyrdeer. It was wrong. On the very turn B8 clicked Tera Dark, Stored Power was nullified and Bite was called, taking down Wyrdeer and any hope of redemption for the antagonist. This divine comedy reaches its finale when the ZU Masked Hero sends in his last Pokémon Bastiodon only to be demolished in one hit by a perfectly timed Superpower. And here’s the craziest part: this was only BaitWiz’s
second attempt at the Metronome challenge. This replay is probably the craziest that I ever witnessed in ZULA. 5dots and Toto have to get ready, our Creator has a new favorite.
Leaderboard updated
I will add a new fun rule. The person who reached number one of the leaderboard after an update is allowed to add a new challenge to ZU Ladder Achievements! They just have to either write a post on this thread or send me a message on discord/showdown to suggest their new achievement. Last week,
czim arrived in first place. He has therefore the right to add one achievement.
This update, we exceptionally have two winners with
BaitWiz and
sketchy ecchi both with 80 points! czim is not far away behind though with 77 points. I want to adress a specific congratulations to BaitWiz to be the first person to have completed every platinium challenge. That's a huge achievement, congratulations.
As I said, both BaitWiz and sketchy ecchi are allowed to add a new achievement. Congratulations to both of you
Ruleset clarification
"If the opposite Pokémon dies indirectly, does it count for the killing challenges?"
Since a lot of people asked me this question already, I want to specify this point about the challenges that are about "killing every Pokemon in the opposite team". For example, Xayah versus Apagogie or Future ZUBL are these kind of challenges. I want to balance the respect of people time and the respect of the spirit of the challenge. Here is the rule. Keep in mind
this applies only for killing challenges :
- If the opposite Pokemon dies for indirect damage while your sweeping Pokemon is on the field, the achievement is tolerated
- If the opposite Pokemon dies by killing itself, the achivement will be rejected
