This is the Commencement thread for GSC PL V. This thread is a place for players to discuss the tournament. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the hosts. The reward for winning this tournament is a custom avatar to be used on Pokemon Showdown.
There will be 6 teams in this tournament, each team will have one manager and one co-manager. There will be 8 slots every week: 4 for OU, 1 for Ubers, 1 for UU, 1 for NU, and 1 for PU. Each team must select 11 players from the auction, meaning with 8 starting players each team must have 3 substitute players. The starting amount of credits for the auction will be 110k credits, and the self-buy price for a manager is 20k with double self-buys not allowed; additionally retains are allowed with a maximum of 3 retains allowed for any returning team including any self-buying. The auction will be using the Snake format, and will take place on the GSCPL room on Pokemon Showdown. The date of this auction is TBD, and each team is required to provide at least one representative to draft for the auction.
To self-buy as a manager, you must sign up in the Player Signups thread and let us know before the Player Signups end. The Player Signups will end 24 hours before the auction date. You must also let us know in advance if you plan to retain any player with confirmation.
More on retaining, the amount of retains a team has originally is 3 barring any self-buys from the managers. If a manager self-buys, this goes down to 2. The price of a retain for any player who was drafted under the price of 7k credits, is automatically 10k credits. If a team drafted a player for above 7k credits, then thier price will be their original price added by 3k credits. So for example, a player retained that was originally bought for 14k credits will be retained for 17k credits. Pools for retains are going to be displayed in the section below.
This tour will be using the Belgian Pro League format, which resembles the following. The regular season will last for 5 weeks, with each team having played each other once. The top 4 teams from the regular season will advance to playoffs, to compete in a 3 week round robin to determine the top two teams to advance to the finals. After these two segments, the top 2 teams will play in the final week. Adding it all up, this tour will last 9 weeks.
For each win, the team will be awarded 2 points. For a tie, the team will be awarded 1 point. For a loss, there will be no points awarded.
At any point in the week, a team can substitute out a player from a game if they are inactive or cannot play the game due to IRL issues or a schedule that does not match up at all with their opponent. In order to make a substitution, the manager must post the substitution in the week thread, tagging the hosts, the opposing managers, and the opposing player, stating which player is being subbed out and who the substituting player is. However, a player who has been substituted out for a week cannot be substituted back into a slot in the same week. In addition, the hosts can veto any substitution if they believe the reason for substitution is to gain a 'favorable' player matchup in the OU slots, where player order matters.
There will be no trades allowed. If a bought player is inactive or cancers, they can be reported and replaced with a player from the undrafted pool of players. Hosts will have final discretion on what constitutes inactivity or cancering, and all situations will be treated on a case-by-case basis. After week 3 of the tournament, managers can still report inactive or cancering players, but they will not be allowed to pick a replacement player.
