SV OU Decidueye Hisui Rain peaks #19 on ladder (1939 ELO)

Rain is teamstyle with many problems and i do think that its impossible to solve them all. Eversince the introduction of ogerpon wellspring its been dificult to build rain. However, i think it has potential and can give some good results when building around the offensive pokemon that take advantage of rain.
I wanted to build around Tera Flying Choice Specs Tornadus -T because its such a blast to click 100% Hurricanes and there in not much in the tier that can take those. Obviously it had to be in a rain team, but then again, rain is in a rough spot in SV OU.

:pelipper: :tornadus-therian: :iron-treads: :barraskewda: :raging-bolt: :decidueye-hisui:

Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Surf
- U-turn
- Roost
- Hurricane

Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Weather Ball
- Focus Blast
- U-turn

Iron Treads @ Leftovers
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 248 HP / 248 SpD / 12 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin

First the core of my team. Obviously Pelipper is the setter and Torn the main character here. Specs hurricanes are almost impossible to switch into and the very few pokemon that can are either seriouly damaged by Weather Ball or hadled by Iron treads. Hurricane is what you click 95% of the time and the other 5% is WB so Focus Blast and Uturn are just to fill the moveset and because sometimes you will want to snipe Kingambit.
Treads is as mandatory on rain as Pelipper in my opinion. Provides rocks, removal, fairy resist and electric inmunity, things that rain teams dont tend to stack unless you use treads. 12 evs on speed are for max speed modest raging bolt which is the most common set.

Barraskewda @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Flip Turn
- Aqua Jet
- Close Combat

Barraskewda is another obvious candidate with a very typical set. The only thing that is worth mentioning is that Aqua Jet is not negociable, there will be many times where you need to beat another priority user like Kingambit, Scizor and weakened Raging Bolt or Rillaboom, making barraskewda not only a powerful abuser but a way to check other threats.

Raging Bolt @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 92 HP / 252 SpA / 164 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Thunderclap
- Thunder
- Dragon Pulse
- Weather Ball

My team needed another rain abuser since Torn and Barras are obviously great but cant do all the job, thus, Bolt. Calm Mind i think it was unnecesary since my team wasnt lacking in power and the coverage provided by WB is just to useful. Being forced out by Ting-Lu on a rain team should not happen and it would be a complete loss of momentum. AV is something i considered since my team was so weak to Kyurem but the power of booster is so appreciated.

Decidueye-Hisui @ Rocky Helmet/Heavy Duty Boots
Ability: Scrappy
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Roost
- U-turn
- Triple Arrows
- Defog

Finally i needed something to check wellspring since you are not going to counter it, specially under rain, but i wanted to be something that wouldnt make my lose momentum, something really difficult to achive when trying to deal with oger. My first option was Eject Button Toxapex which provided my a free entry for Specs Torn, but just one time, it was decent at checking wellspring but i was getting stuffed by Kingambit and Pex was just to passive after wasting the EB. Thus i needed something that could somewhat check both oger, gambit and not be passive.

ENTER DECIDUEYE-HISUI

With a simple set of uturn, roost and fighting stab it can do what i thought would be impossible: check oger, gambit and pivot. Obviously it wont wall them but simply being able to pivot out of wellspring and gambit is impressive. Its surprisingly bulky with max hp and defensive as it takes Ivy Cudgels even in rain.

252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Ivy Cudgel vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Decidueye-Hisui in Rain: 116-137 (30.5 - 36%) -- 47.4% chance to 3HKO

It also has some side benefits like providing a check to samurott-h and it being able to defog spikes with ease since gholdengo cant come in safely thanks to Scrappy and a pretty decent answer to rillaboom which my team lacks. It was a pleassent surprise to see decidueye perform and it did what a wanted, it wasnt the mvp of the team but it did what i needed and thought to be impossible in only one slot. So yeah, this thing is a beast.

Now, this team obviously has tons of flaws. Kyurem is a nightmare to face for this team and sun is also really problematic. But thats the name of the game when you use rain. I was trying to use a fun team with Specs torn but ended up winning a lot and discovering the deffensive use that Decidueye has for some rain teams. Its always great when a low ladder pokemon performs a roll that no other pokemon could have. Sorry for my english and thats all.

Nice team. I had never tried Specs Tornadus on a Rain team, and it seemed like the true star of the squad. Besides Kyurem, there are also other annoying Pokémon but it's possible to play around them. I had many doubts about Decidueye, but I discovered that besides checking the Pokémon you listed, it can also punish Gholdengo switch-ins thanks to Scrappy, if desired.
