Hello people of douwcop VI. Same as last year's post, I once again ranked the teams in this tournament. Old Gens addition added some gaps / shifts in between teams from last year! (IN MY OPINION)

Note 1: I ranked the teams around Wednesday from last week and started writing these saturday-sunday. Current standings have nothing to do with what was written here.
Note 2: Same disclaimer as last year. English isn't my main language so I might've wrote some weird stuff LOL. Keep in mind I tried to add funny lines & banter on some people I know, do NOT take this personal as it is not...

:genesect: US South :genesect:
What the fuck how did we allow this team to form LMFAO. This team weakest player is churrojr who beat Star and SMB in a row in OSDT and then lost somehow to Rojo53. Anyway this team is cracked as fuck and has no weak slots. I will not even go into detail with this team players cuz all of them are known and all of them are doing really good this year, but in my opinion, they have both the best SV lineup and oldgen lineup. I'm scared of facing them and every team should be. APAC please save us again!

Pretty normal to have all of the US teams at the top since the majority of the playerbase is from this region. Splitting them into one more team didn't really nerf em so I propose we split US into 6 or 7 regions next year :fino: . Anyway onto the teams:

:roaring-moon: US West :roaring-moon:
The current champions look to defend their title with a pretty solid lineup. This team has 6 SCL players??? (1 starter, 3 supports, 2 managers), what the fuck? Anyway I love the oldgens the team have in fespy - eragon - Schister cuz its one of those rare scenarios where we have relatively new people playing the old gens and those players are also at the top of their pools! (in my rankings anyway. Well fespy is kinda fossil but the other two aren't...). They have SV more than covered, I think as long as they don't overcook in the old gens they will be winning most of their games with ease.

When I first saw the roster I didn't think it was that strong but after carefuly analyzing all of it, it's actually really good! Jello has been having an insane SCL debut going 2-1 (edit he just beat Ann so 3-1 :fino) on it, breakfast enjoyer had an amazing OSDT & DPL run, Yellow Paint had an amazing OSDT Top 8 and is currently in Top 8 of Fall Seasonal, pigwarrior had a really good DPL record but idt i've seen them outside of that? And last SV player is tier who wooped my ass 2 years ago in OSDT. For oldgens we have Chris02395480 covering SS and already showing dominance with their signature team, claiming the first blood with it (edit first was luisin-gma, second blood!), Arcticblast in XY who had the best DPL record of them all, and finally Knull who I actually don't know but my sources say they're good, so I'll trust the sources. Half of this roster has plenty of experience in team tournaments so I trust them to guide "the newer ones" to victory. Also please people prepare for Chris sun, he can't keep getting away with it...

Last but not least we have Midwest. They have what in my opinion is the second best old-gens trio in the tournament, with Nails SS (I don't need to remind u guys who and what this man has accomplished in this tier.), qsns SM (had a rough SMPL last year but tbh most of their games had a lot of hax vs qsns lmao including myself), and laptops XY, who despite not having the best DPL, had a really strong 6-2 record in ORASPL, which was more recent. Now for SV we have bagel leading the players, with two really strong players in LogIce and IcyPenguin2. Keep a special eye on this last one because they have been owning every damn tier they touch including DOU. Last two of the SV core are Paraplegic who has been struggling a bit with SV and avarice who apparently likes the tier but hasn't rly played it that much? Idk but I think they still have really strong players who can get the team really far.

These are all teams who have at least half of the roster with really high ranked players but the other half is... not that high. Honestly we've seen teams like this win in or get very far in the tournament previously so I'm really eager to see one of these shine!

:articuno: Canada :articuno:
The addition of old gens allowed Canada to slot in players who don't really do well in SV, thus enabling more and solid players in the team. I've finally ranked Mimi in the upper half of PRs!!. She was a solid XY CG player and from the tests and games I've seen from her in this tier I expect her to still do well after years of that. We now follow with OSDT I runner up Mishimono in SS. I think Mish has been a bit more afk from Mons (DOU?) in general and I do think they're better at BW & XY, but Mishi did have some very strong showings back then in SS, so I expect them to do well if they get some rust off. Last is GenOne who absolutely owned my ass in DPL and had a positive record on it, so he's definetely in good form. SV is... solid? I mean I think GMA - Sapphire have really good game sense and click good, Hys has decent DUU performances but idt I've seen them in DOU, and then I just straight don't know the other two. SV is a tier that you pick relatively quick if you have some VGC experience, so if they're VGCers I expect them to at least do well. I'm surprised they have solid players like Fc or Necas in the bench instead of starting though...

:mew: Latin America :mew:
Latin America suffered several losses. No Ann, no guilt, and Enzonana gets to be slotted again :/ . Anyway, I think our oldgens are pretty ok with El nana - Mako - myself. Nana had a positive record in SSPL, Mako did really well in DPL and I think I did decent at ORASPL, so yeah :fino: . In SV we have the classic luisin-papiloco-lucky-sama that have been in the team for several years now. I've told this to them and I'll say it publicly: you either support them and they can do really well, or you don't and they flop. This time I hope to be a bit more involved in their prep so hopefully they do well... . Last two slots are LugiaJP and Teka, the former being a relatively new face to the DOU scene but has shown strong performances in some side tours and individuals, and the latter being a known VGC face. I'm excited with this lineup though, so hopefully we get to win again!

:gengar: Italy :gengar:
La mafia italiana has come back after not playing in 2024. Their oldgen players are really damn strong, with MADARAAAAAAAAAAAAAA leading the team in SS, Amaranth playing a familiar SM and entrocefalo suffering in XY (cuz the tier is made for people to suffer.). I think i would've swapped those two? But yeah I'm not the manager here. Anyway SV seems pretty good with the solid duo of Ferrari - waffle, LoSco who I remember from 2-3 years ago and remember them being pretty good but then dissapeared from DOU scene, and the VGCers (I think?) Val & Kyogrus. I think they have the players with enough skill to win vs anyone, but they also have players whose mental is... questionable. Let's see if this doesn't end up affecting them...

:zapdos: Europe :zapdos:
It's quite insane Europe is still solid after being nerfed this bad. No Spain, no Italy, no players like umbry, Hugo or Frixel? Damn. Anyway, they have a pretty solid SV lineup with Char leading them mainly and the "recent" volcaronavgc & EatFoods who are pretty good at clicking. Incognition is new to the DOU Scene but has been interested on the tier recently and even managed to kick bagel out of Winners Bracket in the most recent seasonal, and Astro Nation Shoe is someone who I see frequently and circuit tournaments (or used to?). Oldgens is actually pretty good: NinjaSnapple is a pretty solid SS player with vast knowledge on it, Yoda is really strong at SM, and then yuki who I seem to recall played BW-XY tiers but I can't really say for sure. I think there are several "newer" faces to tournaments, hopefully veterans in this team teach them how to deal with this!

:gyarados: Spain :gyarados:
Ay Españita...
I have several problems with this team >:( . First, no Tenzai?? Second, Eric benched AGAIN?? Third: Free SMB from oldgens jail man...
Anyway, their oldgens is actually pretty strong. JRL is one of the strongest Classic tiers player, altough he's kinda rusted from not playing DOU, but they were really good at XY. SMB is probably top 3 SM players of all time so yeah don't even need to go into detail there, and Shiritu is... playing SS?? What. I mean Shiritu is really good at clicking but idt I've ever seen them at SS? Hopefully they get enough experience on it to do really well though!
Now, onto the SV slots: voltix and aseqq are some of the most underrated players in the community. Having teamed with both I realize how good they actually are, so don't sleep on them! The rest seem to be from VGC so I won't talk about them, I do remember the goat Susej from last year but apparently they're benched... (edit: they subbed him in and win!!)
I don't like repeating what I said in previous editions but I genuinely have to: If the not known players all do really well, this team is perfectly capable of repeating what they did last year (Making it to finals). I wish them good luck!

:medicham-mega: India :medicham-mega:
Earlier in the season there were rumours India wouldn't be able to form a team, but I'm glad to still see them around after the amazing feat they did in 2023. Their oldgens is actually pretty solid, having AIRedzone cover SS, the goat Nido-Rus cooking in SM (please don't overcook!!), and Piyu being the sacrifice into the XY shithole. Have fun buddy.
The SV core starts with sundays and Opelucid, who I believe are very solid players, the former being my secret pick in DPL that performed amazingly!. I don't know much about the rest unfortunately so I'll leave it at that, but I love "underdogs" doing a solid run like in 2023, so I'll root for them!

:chi-yu: China :chi-yu:
The only reason I'm ranking China this low with the solid teams is xqiht is not playing, and as all years, not knowing most of the roster. I can definetely say though if more people like Nakano, xqiht and SeaLife keep appearing, China will definetely be an elite team soon! Anyway onto the players. Oldgens have Nakano Nino, qian333mo and hybone in XY-SM-SS respectively. I know hybone plays a bunch of side tours of all tiers, so I expect them to at least show solid clicking. Nakano had an insane positive run in ORASPL and even won the tour with a solid win in finals! I liked their creative teams a lot so I expect them to continue having a solid run in the tier. Unfortunately, I only really know SeaLife for SV :( . They had a spectacular run in OSDT, being the runner up of the tournament, and altough I've seen them struggle a bit in some sidetours, I think that just happens to the best of us; they're still an amazing player. I wish them luck! (And as a League player, pray they recover from the T1 curse HEH)

I'm not a fan of making this tier because I think both teams here are solid, but idk, I just feel like they are lacking... something? Several things? Idk. I hope you prove me wrong!

:urshifu-rapid-strike: APAC :urshifu-rapid-strike:
Let's start with APAC. First I want to publicly shame myself for putting Idyll top 2/3 in the XY rankings. He deserves worse. Anyway I expect him to just bring some shit like Carbink and force players to respect it because it's somehow actually putting up work. Next we have Terekusai who comes from an amazing 6-2 record in DPL, and last but not least tyo who is apparently a random who won't contribute to the team (if you got the joke you got the joke). Jokes aside he's really good and I'm a big fan of his teams so I expect to see fun new stuff!
Now the SV core, we have the annual defrost of raf to carry this team to victory, and the fresh Razachu who got to play a bit in DPL and got to see how SV is cooked with the ducks firsthand. The other three... I don't know? Like my sources say trace had solid showings last editions, and the rest I don't know :(

:weezing-galar: France :weezing-galar:
The team led by ratpacker seems to have 3 solid and known players, and then just people I don't really know. Ratpacker is amazing at SS and SV so I expect them to do well in their slot as well as supporting the SV players, John has been around the DOU community for a while and they do well typically, and both Givrix and Nepth have had strong circuit tournament runs. After that, I do not know the rest of these players. I seem to recall ARTY in one of the circuit tournaments I hosted, and I've seen RL play SV, not XY though. Miracles can happen with the magic of the rat packer though, so I hope we see one for ourselves :fino:

I just had to make this tier :dust: . Staraptor is a pretty strong SV DOU player, Ninja is a solid SS player, LpZ has had DOU experience previously, ChainlessJoe got jailed in XY, and outside of that, they got some VGC players I think? My main concern is honestly not playing-wise, I think a lot of them have the skill to play vs some other solid players, but I wonder where they'll get the teams from? I don't seem to spot a single one that builds for themselves, and if this means getting teams from public resources, then they're at a HUGE disadvantage. I just don't see them doing that great in any scenario unfortunately, and while it's always fun to see the contrary happen, by the time I'm writing this they're like 2-12 already.

Apologies for having this post pretty late into the tournament, but better late than never! I wish everyone participating in the tournament good luck and hope more upsets happen!
