SV LC: Starsama vs Wail Wailord
It's honestly pretty hard to bold against this guy at this point, even though Wail has been doing fine and exceeding a lot of people's expectations looking at the PRs and the sheet, Starsama has been the best in the tier for a while and is having a fantastic season.

SV LC: Laroxyl vs Eniigma
This one's gonna be really nice, I feel like it's a 50/50 looking at how well both are doing this season but I'm going with Laroxyl here, mainly because he's been running better teams more often in my opinion, even though Eniigma had a nice meta idea with Larv + Goth. Both of these can overcook in the builder so it's gonna be fun trying to figure out what sets are they running during the game.

Good luck to the four!

Arena Spartans (0) vs (0) Circuit Breakers
SV OU: Separation vs ABR - highlight matchup. With separation winning OLT and abr having an astounding tournament it’s hard not to bold abe. He seems to be doing the hjkjk thing of spamming screen offense and stall in alternate manner (maybe he ascends to Vert and brings trick room). I think a lot of this comes down to the builder.
SV OU: DAHLI vs Kebab mlml - seems in form beat a very good opponent yesterday. Kebab is no slouch though
SV OU: Attribute vs GXE - can’t really predict against attribute even though his record sucked at some point this tour (maybe still does)
SV Ubers: Fc vs entrocefalo - the only ubers player we would’ve spent more than 15k on, and for good reason.
SV DOU: Akaru Kokuyo vs MADARAAAA - I honestly have no idea lmao, I like akaru though
SV UU: etern vs crying - “you snaked me” - eternally. while true and while he has a phenomenal record, there’s too many pokemon in the C and D tiers to prep for crying’s crazy
SV RU: baconeatinassassin vs Santu - 3 trophies
SV NU: Danny vs watashi - this is another even highlight-ish. My feeling from not having a single fooly game after week 4 is his record slowed down and he’s probably at 5 or 6 wins. Danny is really hard to beat and I did consider him the strongest NUer (besides sheisteban) going in.
SV PU: Void vs MZ - my feeling is MZ has done better in this tier. Can anyone truly win if you’re playing PU though?
SV LC: Starsama vs Wail Wailord - honestly I think wail started out looking like the LC value puck of the tournament, but his last 2 games have not been on par. If he plays like that, I would bet money on starsama.

Studio Gible (0) vs (0) Showdown Shoguns
SV OU: TJ vs Mako - i see him win basically every time he plays sv ou
SV OU: Star vs 3d - star has had a really good tournament so far. I think 3d is the shoguns’ strongest OU and a good match for him though
SV OU: Finchinator vs Baddy - finch is obv stronger on paper but baddy has held it surprisingly well together for a debut. mostly just predicting this cuz it’d be funny, 2 good friends
SV Ubers: Taka vs Frito - takgod. I would say the gible were insane to steal taka Ubers support from us at 10k, and starting him doesn’t help that case much, but he’s strung a lot of wins together.
SV DOU: bagel vs SEA - sea is putting up strong performances so probably gets bagel on mu
SV UU: Mimilucha vs Fogbound Lake- stronger player
SV RU: RichardMillePlain vs hjkhj - is it stall or offense this week?
SV NU: fade vs Plague - much stronger player
SV PU: Gilbert arenas vs mind gaming - i honestly have no idea. Both are strong with strong sheet records (marcop is more open with advertising it).
SV LC: Laroxyl vs Eniigma - I think laro is better and kneecaps himself less in the builder

gl to all teams, friends all around, if i had to root for a team it’d maybe be the gible?

As most people probably realized if they took a cursory glance at the standings, there were some really great individual seasons this year, and though I'm sure there's lots to be said about Shengineer's 8-1 season, and about the seasons by etern, Fc and ABR that currently sit at 8-1 with playoff games remaining, I'll take the opportunity to talk about zee going 9-0. This is, by my count, the 18th 9-0 regular season in Smogon team tournament history, and unfortunately for the Terrors, the 4th one to do so while missing the playoffs (after Void's SPL XV for the Wolfpack, SoulWind's SPL XI for the Sharks, and ZoroDark's SSD I for the Taipans). If you've been on the Smogon Tournaments Discord lately, you may know that only a single player has won a trophy in a season where they went 9-0 in the regular season: Lacus Clyne in SSD I, who went 1-1 in the playoffs as the Pitvipers took out the Gliders and the Bushmasters for the trophy.

I'm not really sure if the following makes that feat more or less impressive, but because zee previously went 0-6 in SCL 1, the spread between their best and worst official team tournaments on Smogon is 15 wins. For those wondering, that is a pretty astounding gap. Despite having a 9-0 season and a billion sheet games of their own, the gap between SoulWind's best and worst tournaments is only 14 wins. McMeghan's and ABR's are 12 wins. lax is close, but the spread between that 9-1 WCOP 2019 and the 1-7 SCL 2 is still only 14 wins. There is, in fact, only one other player with a 15-win spread, that being blarajan, who was actually able to accomplish it while only going 1-5 in their worst run (SSD 1) because of their legendary, and if you will forgive my dramatic foreshadowing, nearly unparalled 11-0 in SPL 5.

There are, however, a few players who have an even larger gap, and that would be a footnote if not for the fact that it is relevant here. This record has stood since 2015, when colchonero followed up their 8-1 SPL 5 with an 0-9 SPL 6 that is still, today, tied for the single worst season in Smogon team tour history. This 16-win gap was matched two years later, when Eo Ut Mortus got revenge for a disastrous 1-8 run in SPL 5 by going 10-1 in the fourth and final iteration of Smogon Snake Draft, and one more player joined that group a year later, that being reyscarface's 10-0 SPL that more than made up for, you guessed it, a brutal 1-7 SPL 5 (something was in the water, clearly).

So it is perhaps poetic that in the same year that zee opened up a 15 win gap between their best and worst seasons, someone on their own team outdid them in the opposite direction. And look, I'm not going to go on about Scottie's 1-6 this tournament. Yeah, it was a rough slide, and if even one of those losses goes the other way then the Terrors would be tied with the Breakers on BD for the last playoff spot, but at the same time, it's Pokemon. Stuff happens. BKC, McMeghan, SoulWind, and Malekith all have 2-7 seasons. Obviously Scottie would rather not have tied the record this year with a 16-win gap between their best and worst seasons, but then again, they were only able to do so in the first place because their 11-0 SCL III still stands alongside blarajan's SPL 5 as the winningest single team tour season in Smogon history.

Having reached the semifinals of this tour, the uuers who keep uuing are: etern(8-1), crying(5-4), fogbound lake(3-1) and Mimilucha(2-5). Even without any of the historically top 3 uuers (Punny, pdt, JustFranco), or the 2nd best performer zS, these 4 are all good and creative players, and the remaining games will for sure be exciting. The historical best uu record is pdt's 9-3 from SCL III, so etern has the chance to finally top that, before this tour ends.

etern vs crying - Both very skilled players, etern has the edge here due to having a lot more knowledgeable people to bounce ideas off, i would assume.

Mimilucha vs Fogbound Lake - Fog is the strongest player of the 2 and should be favored in an even mu. However, Mimi is more involved with the tier, and looks to have untilted since he's playing, so he might have the builder advantage on his side.
