Third and final Hall of Fame Watch (trademark pending) of the year! In case you think this list is a bit lacking in terms of already-decorated players, you wouldn't be crazy; only 13/35 players remaining in this tournament already have a trophy. By contrast, 16/33 players in WCOP finals already had trophies, as well as 20/36 players in SPL finals. There's a lot of new blood, and while it's reasonable enough to speculate that this is just the nature of low tiers and therefore SCL, I haven't checked that. So anyway, enjoy the post!
22 players are looking for their first Smogon trophy with this tournament:
7 players are looking for their second team trophy:
- Spartans: Fc , etern , Void
- Shoguns: Mako , Fogbound Lake , Hayburner , ima
2 players are looking for their second trophy and first team trophy:
- Spartans: Separation
- Shoguns: Giannis Antetokommo-o
2 players are looking for their third trophy (third team trophy for each of them):
- Spartans: DAHLI
- Shoguns: mind gaming
With a Shoguns win, S1nn0hC0nfirm3d would claim a fourth team trophy for four total, joining a tie for 32nd place in the Smogon Hall of Fame (my lawyers have advised me to refrain from speculating as to whether this trophy would actually get conferred in the event of a Shoguns win).
Also with a Shoguns win, lax would claim a third team trophy for four total, entering a tie for 24th all-time. lax would also join the club that I should really come up with a name for, that being the players with each of Smogon's three teamtour trophies. lax would become the 6th member of this group, which currently consists of (as you have probably heard me say before) SoulWind, BIHI, elodin, Tace, and S1nn0hC0nfirm3d.
Rooting for the Shoguns here, in large part because I picked them to be a playoff team preseason and I need my ego validated, but there are lots of cool trophyless players on both teams! Let's get a tiebreak :))

Separation vs baddy : Separation is having what I believe a very standard season given his reputation as a player. he’s very well rounded when it comes to reading the field and micro managing the turns to pivot his team in any kind of situation .( which gives him a very high floor as a player ) AND he keeps improving in that aspect of the game, BUT when he makes mistakes, those are usually very bad mistakes that can sentence his chances at winning . I think the biggest swing factor for him is his team choices because as your opponent he can be really intimidating ( talking from experience ) given how versatile he is when it comes to team style , but he’s been loading some bad teams this season which makes me pick him a bit less comfortably that I would in other opportunities.
This tour is basically my first real look at Baddy as a player (maybe I’ve seen him before, but I don’t remember). In his debut week he brought what I thought was the best team of the round and played a genuinely solid game, so he was my Week 2 MVP. That said, the lack of experience from Baddy—at least from what it looks like to me since I don’t even know if he’s actually new or not—is noticeable when you watch his games. He often puts himself in bad early-game positions and then has to claw his way back. But to his credit, he does a freaking good job getting out of the trouble he creates sometimes and getting out of trouble is the sign of a good player so that’s a positive thing just needs to clean that up
However, you can’t rely on that against someone as experienced as Separation. If Baddy manages to secure solid early-game positioning, his chances of beating Separation go way up.
Separation will win this game because he is way more experienced and battle tested while also being the better player with a higher floor and ceiling. Baddy does have chances of winning depending on some factors but I’ll go with who I believe is the better and more experienced player .
I am the last person to have anything to do with scl but here I am bored out of my mind so heres a penny for my thoughts.
Spartans have drafted a more unknown team imo, even though I saw all their Ous in SPL as well.
Seeing a coinflip tier match up in sv pu makes me laugh for some reason.
Alot of these newer tiers are full of good Pokémon. I'm not rly sure how u team build in a tier with like 50 or 60 viable mons, but I assume it's sort of like SM OU? Hard to build and you will be a little soft vs some guys unless u stall or bulky balance but you can outplay ppl with ur breakers.
I have been watching a couple DOU games though(recently felt a surge of inspiration and randomly got to 1650 in the DOU ladder) and man these guys are fucking brilliant. I rly look forward to that game even though idrk the guy playing in the Spartans side. (SEA made finals of Callous Invitational and she's very creative, looking forward to her build too)
With that out the way, let's witness my extremely bad predictions!

Arena Spartans (6) vs (4) Showdown Shoguns
SV OU: Separation vs Baddy - baddy has had a decent tournament but separation is probably out of his reach rn. bea has a better prediction post about this game
SV OU: DAHLI vs Mako - i felt like he didnt have the best records in the past couple tournaments but feel like hes relatively back to form. wasnt super impressed by makos semis game
SV OU: Attribute vs 3d - highlight between the two best from each team. attribute has been incredible and i think has a larger chance of getting a builder lead
SV Ubers: Fc vs Frito - that tiebreak game was nuts. still a better record and i think frito has looked way weaker this tournament
SV DOU: Akaru Kokuyo vs SEA - i think sea has been a little stronger this tournament
SV UU: etern vs Fogbound Lake - plot armor device hits play. etern has been insane this tournament
SV RU: baconeatinassassin vs hjkhj - bacon played an awesome game in semis with the pressure. my feeling is hjk is more battle tested and will !pick 1,2 correctly.
SV NU: Danny vs Plague - besides my biases for our player clearly the best nu player in the pool. his bring vs watashi last week was a little suspect, imho, and i think he’ll go back to more solid builds and win.
SV PU: Void vs mind gaming - sorry to a bro but a clear advantage for the shoguns. not gonna say much else here
SV LC: Starsama vs Eniigma - i wanna predict starsama but i feel like he might get nerves at this stage. eniigmas shtick of bring random heysup mon and win is good although his technique is not very clean. i think star might let eniigma get a massive lead here in a regular game i would predict star though.
i think the spartans have it because they just have more solid slots across the board, but in a tiebreak situation you maybe go attribute-mg and then fc/etern again. honestly in that case you see a repeat of shoguns picking ru into bacon, kinda hype
