Smogon VGC is now introducing the VGC Oldgens Circuit! This will be composed of 6 Double Elimination tours covering Generations 4-9. In future years, the exact format for each generation will change. The circuit will culminate in a Single Elimination invitational playoffs, where the 6 winners of the tournaments as well as the top 10 players in the circuit rankings will play to determine a circuit champion. Circuit Playoffs Format
The Circuit Playoffs is a Single Elimination 16-player tournament composed of the best performing players on the circuit. The champion of the circuit will win a custom banner. Each round will be a best of 5 match, using the formats of the tournaments from the circuit. At the start of each round, the first format to play will be decided. After that, the loser of each game decides what format to play next. No format may be repeated within a best of 5.
Example: The starting format is said by the TO to be 2013. The players play a bo1 in VGC 2013, then the loser would decide to play VGC 2017 for the next format. This continues until one player has won 3 games.
