SV OU Cornerpon + Okidogi BO (Peaked #47 on the ladder), My first RMT

Hello my fellow pokemon enjoyers, and welcome to my first RMT.
I always loved Ogerpon, especially Cornerstone, as its my favorite variant of her, with one of my favorite typings and coolest STAB types. Unfortunately, she's overshadowed by Wellspring most of the time. However, there are alot of distinct advantages to using her over the sister that's mostly deemed superior, and we'll cover them today in this post.

Proof of peak in the attached files.

Without further ado, here's the team!
:Ogerpon-Cornerstone: :Hatterene: :Zapdos: :Kingambit: :Iron Treads: :Okidogi:

:Ogerpon-Cornerstone: Cornerpon
Ogerpon-Cornerstone @ Cornerstone Mask
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Power Whip
- Superpower

Theres two major things I noticed while viewing cornerpon: One, sturdy, which is a very overlooked ability on an offensive mon, and two, its excellent STABs + Coverage options, which allow it to beat alot of things Woger cannot.
Sturdy is great to check some offensive threats, as you can basically trade into them, but still technically keep a mon, even if it's super low. Sturdy also provides some insurance that you can set up, as it borderline guarantees you survive one hit. A scenario thats come up alot is trading into enemy Wellspring, which is a mon that threatens the team quite alot, yet you are guaranteed an OHKO on it with Power Whip and survive, or just win the speed tie and keep sturdy for later.
Cornerpon's STAB is also pretty great. One may argue that Rock + Grass is easily resisted by steels, yet more than half the meta-relevant steels just drop to a stab anyway. The only three who don't ( :Iron Crown: , :Gholdengo: , :Kingambit: ) Get smoked by either knock or superpower. I prefer superpower usually, as our team isn't too shabby against Ghold. If you want to, you can run trailblaze or a more niche option like counter in the final slot, but this moveset has worked out best for me.
The main reason I think cornerpon can actually do more than wellspring is it beats most of its checks. A team with, say, a :hydrapple: , or a tera grass on :moltres: / :galarian_weezing: won't be able to withstand a tera boosted cudgel in most cases.
Teams who rely on :Tornadus-Therian: , :Rillaboom: :Dragonite: , :Zapdos: or even something more niche like :Mandibuzz: are absolutely not safe from this mon.

:Hatterene: Hatterene
Hatterene (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic Noise
- Draining Kiss
- Pain Split
- Mystical Fire / Nuzzle

I wanted to borderline guarantee Sturdy to be up, so I first thought of Hatt. This mon is top 5 mons in the tier, in my opinion, due to how easily it discourages using hazards, and how it checks stuff like :zamazenta: or :ting-lu: really easily. It's a super splashable mon, and I definitely wanted something to do all those roles as Zamazenta is a easy check to our star of the show, Cornerpon.
Not much else to say here, besides the fact that you can run Nuzzle over mystical fire, but I feel like the coverage is needed on Hatt alot of the times, to soften the steels for Cornerpon.

:Zapdos: Zapdos
Zappy (Zapdos) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Fairy / Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Discharge / Thunder Wave
- U-turn /Volt Switch
- Roost
- Hurricane

Zapdos forms a cool core with Hatt, as the ground mons who might click EQ instead of rocks definitely wouldn't want to come in on Zapdos. It also allows the team to spread paralysis on pokemon who normally outspeed cornerpon (our team is rather slow.) This also serves as a more reliable check to :Zamazenta: , since Hatterene gets worn down pretty often throughout the match. It's honestly just a very consistent pivot. I run Tera Fairy for the occasional pult or raging bolt, but grass is just as viable to help beat Wellspring if you don't want to lose sturdy. I run U-Turn over volt switch most of the time as it feels more consistent, but it's up to you which you prefer.
Zapdos is also really good as a ground immune mon to a team that's sort of weak to such a typing. Overall super consistent and proves itself why it's an OU staple time and time again.

:Kingambit: Kingambit
Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 116 HP / 252 Atk / 140 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head

I wanted a cleaner to take advantage of Cornerpon beating/Overwhelming some of it's checks. This gambit set is also a check to Dragapult, which is a pretty threatening mon in many cases. I run leftovers to ensure it can remain healthy to take on ghosts many times in a game. 140 speed EVS ensure I can outspeed an uninvested Corviknight, while still remaining bulky enough to take hits throughout the game.
Tera Ghost is an obvious pick for how it can allow Gambit to beat things like :Great tusk: or :Zamazenta: on a whim.

:Iron_Treads: Iron Treads
Iron Treads @ Air Balloon
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin

Pretty simple set that forms an excellent core with Zapdos/Hatt, patching up weaknesses to mons like :Raging_bolt: or :Glimmora:, along with providing what I deem to be the most reliable rapid spinning in the tier. This also gives us an electric immunity alongside a great rocker. Tera Ice is my favorite tera on the elephants, as it lets them 2HKO :Sinischa: and deal with :kyurem: a bit better.
I actually ran boots on this for a while, and Tread's item is really flexible, so just go with what you feel best with.

:Okidogi: Okidogi
Okidogi @ Assault Vest
Ability: Toxic Chain
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Gunk Shot
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch

For the last slot, I wanted a :kingambit: check, a knocker, a tspike absorber, and something to help against the fairies. This mon is all of those, plus more! Dogi hits decently hard, and with its four coverage options, it can beat :Enamorus: , :Iron_Valiant: , and more. Toxic chain is also an impressive ability that lets it spread poison and make progress really easily.
Overall this Pokemon deserves more attention in my humble opinion, it's a great check to so much, has awesome bulk, an excellent progress maker, and is just really reliable.

Anyway, not much else to say about the team, besides that it's kinda weak to Wogerpon and fairies, but most pokemon here can threaten out fairs before they do much.
Also, Kingambit definitely threatens this, as after your Okidogi is chipped, it can work wonders on this team. (Big reason why not to drop superpower on :Ogerpon-Cornerstone: )

Anyway, hope you all enjoy my RMT!
Merry Xmas! :3
