Welcome to the third ZeroUsed Circuit playoffs of Generation 9! Players battled throughout numerous official tournaments and the top 16 qualifiers will compete to be the ZU Circuit Champion. All rounds will be hosted in this thread. The winner will receive a banner as a prize. In addition, the following Pokemon Showdown prizes are being offered, courtesy of PS! Staff:
  • A custom avatar.
  • The ability to recolor your PS username.
  • The ability to claim an unused PS username.

Credits for the trainercards go to skrimps, Tuthur and this website.

Tournament Rules:

  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • The banlist for this tournament is the same as the current ZeroUsed ladder of the Smogon University server of Pokemon Showdown, and can be found here.
  • Best of three, single elimination.
  • If metagame changes occur during the middle of Round 1, they will take effect in Round 2.
  • Battles must take place on Pokemon Showdown! or smogtours.
  • SV cartridge win conditions are in place; there are no ties.
  • Replays are required. Failure to post will result in a coin flip.

OranBerryBlissey10 vs Baddy - Highlight match up for me, the best players left. OBB only here due to beav's kind soul but idt baddy will be as giving if any hax swings his way.
Michael Jordan vs zause - beef match up according to tuthur.
BloodAce vs Shadow079 - repeat of the open finals minus a banned deucer and I think the result will be the same.
diegoyuhhi vs DD Joe - Joes teams are cracked.

I trust those 3 as builders more. Obviously, the people I didn't bold can still show up with good teams and win, but I think the meta is at a point where you can innovate with overlooked sets easier than ever, so I'm going to favor the people that I think are more likely to do that.

Frankly, if I was handed a MJ team and a zause team 5 mins before a game, I think I would use the MJ team first. That's not to say the zause team isn't good – nobody is prepping for zause stuff like Indeedee-F. I mean, MJ would tho, he made the triple dark sample. Idk, I feel like I have a good idea of what both are gonna bring, and if I'm imagining the MU correctly, MJ takes it.
 
OranBerryBlissey10 vs Baddy - This is certainly my highlight matchup here. Both OBB and Baddy are excellent players. I'm not gonna bash on a dead horse and instead say that I think OBB played vs Beavs really well in spite of the misfortune of not being able to land moves. I'm bolding Baddy here however because in my opinion, he's the best player left in this tour, the teams he bring are superb, and he has a little bit of hax in him to swing the game in his favour. Exciting match, will be interested in tuning into this one. | 49-51

Michael Jordan vs zause - If my sources are correct, Mj has decided to lock in this tour because he wants to use the money to fund his mons retirement Toto style. With that + Zause's continued hatred and poor fortune against SU players, I give the victory to Mj here. | 55-45

BloodAce vs Shadow079 - Speaking of players that would probably wish to retire right now (kek), BloodAce at the start of the year was going on a tear, and while he has faltered a little bit, I feel his motivation and drive to play this tier is as strong as ever. As a result, I feel he will take the dub here for this round. This doesn't mean I feel Shadow will be an easy kick in the park though, I know he would love to prove his doubters wrong, and I think this could be a cagey affair if both players want to go the distance. 60|40

diegoyuhhi vs DD Joe - I think my bias shows here the most but DD Joe has continued to skyrocket as a player in the past year and has continued to show that with his victory over an albeit less motivated Drud, but that doesn't mean that victory isn't something to scoff over. Diego for comparison is the reigning champ and he is aiming to showcase to everyone once again why he is one of the fiercest players to stumble across in a ZU individual tour. That being said, I feel his luck ends here. I think this is where DD Joe well and truly starts to shine here, and I have a feeling a shock result might get pulled off here. 49|51

apparently im an underdog vs a 1-5 mossui town spiritomb and shadow079 is favored vs bloodace, ig playabeavs will be putting on his best LBN impression next
