Next Pokemon is...
:sv/rayquaza:
Rayquaza @ Choice Band / Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def / 216 Spe or 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Flying
Jolly or Adamant Nature
- Dragon Ascent
- U-turn / Scale Shot
- V-create / Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

Rayquaza @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Flying / Normal / Fire / Steel
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance / Swords Dance
- Dragon Ascent
- Extreme Speed
- V-create / Earthquake

Rayquaza is one of the tier's most powerful wallbreakers due to its potent Flying-STAB Dragon Ascent, as well as its good coverage such as V-Create and U-turn. Unlike Mega Salamence, Rayquaza has access to both an item and Terastalization, enhancing its immediate power and/or setup capabilities. Although it doesn't like HO matchups, some users may use Scale Shot to snipe down Smeargle, while others may use Swords Dance + Extreme Speed to emulate Arceus. How will you use the Terror of the Sky? Building ends 26th December (aka Boxing Day).

Cleaner Scarftal featuring Ray
This team uses Rayquaza supported by pivot support and paraspam to break holes in the team before cleaning with Choice Scarf Yveltal. Using both Foul Play and Dark Pulse is unconventional, but I find it makes Yveltal a potent late game cleaner, able to do more to things that Foul Play can't hit for much such as Eternatus and Zygarde while still doing considerable damage to most, able to clean from even more positions. Besides that there isn't much to it. I considered Zap Cannon on Ho-Oh to do better against Taunt Calm Mind Arceus forms, but ultimately I think Thunder Wave is the better choice for more consistent paralysis against, among other things, Eternatus.

Dragon Dance Rayquaza Webs HO :rayquaza: :ribombee: :kyogre-primal: :yveltal: :zacian-crowned: :arceus-ground:

One of the main distinctions between using Rayquaza on HO compared to Mega Salamence is that the former is more suited for Sticky Web structures due to its poorer initial speed. I'm using Substitute + Earthquake as opposed to the standard V-Create + Extreme Speed because I'm not a fan of becoming slower after beating Zacian-C, and having Substitute is very nice against Alomomola, Ferrothorn, and defensive Primal Groudon, as well as Marshadow and Sucker Punch Yveltal. Life Orb + Substitute sounds stupid, but you need the damage from Life Orb to break through Pokemon such as Tera Steel Giratina-O and physically defensive Alomomola. As for the rest of the team, Primal Kyogre helps wear down Primal Groudon for Rayquaza to break through it easier, while being Timid to outspeed Zacian-C under Sticky Webs. Yveltal is standard on Sticky Web, and helps against Ultra Necrozma. Zacian-C synergises with Primal Kyogre and acts as an Arceus check. Arceus-Ground gives us a Z-Move user that synergises decently with Rayquaza since they share very similar checks like Giratina or Dondozo. Finally, Ribombee is preferred for me over Smeargle because this team cannot anti-lead Pheromosa very well, but Smeargle can be used instead for removal options, especially when we have Taunt Arceus-Ground to beat opposing Smeargle anyways.

Both Yveltal and Arceus remain some of the tier's most powerful and respected threats due to their movepool flexability and potency with Terastalization. Yveltal's Life Orb set serves as an anchor on the recently suspected Sticky Web structures it finds a place on, while Arceus serves as both a wallbreaker and cleaner on a wide range of Hyper Offense structures. While they do have alternative sets, such as Choice Scarf Yveltal having almost guaranteed removal against Sticky Web, and Trick Room Arceus supporting devastating attackers such as CB Calyrex-I, these two are notorious for their offensive capabilities. So, to start of 2026 with a bang, how will you build around one or the other? Building ends Thursday 8th January 2026.
you are not required to use these two on the same team, you can build either one you want, unless you want to try use both on the same team (which is probably do-able).

toedscruel tuesday
:toedscruel::eternatus::yveltal::zacian-crowned::arceus::necrozma-ultra:
it's always tuesday somewhere in the world

What is better than sleeping your opponent with spore? Sporing your opponent while not being able to get spored yourself. Toedscruel is something I discovered while fuckin around drunk at 2 am and I thought it had enough merit to be put on teams so I jus plopped it on generic HO team nr 35000. U kinda have to run etern and zacian otherwise u get cooked by ho-oh and taunt mons but the rest is up to your decision. I jus put unecro, yveltal and ekiller on it cuz theyre consistent and nice to click with.

:mewtwo-mega-y::yveltal::fezandipiti::zygarde::groudon-primal::ho-oh:
Wanted to try out MMY cause ngl this thing sounded kinda ass outside of HO, and sure enough it's not great. SCARFTAL though (why does it autocorrect to capitalize SCARFTAL both here and on showdown?). SCARFTAL is fucking nutty. As time goes on I more and more feel this is maybe a top 5 Pokemon set in the tier. Has great late-game sweeping potential, gets you out of so many sticky situations, and basically singlehandedly solves the webs matchup. SCARFTAL is just so fucking good on balance and bulky offense, it sometimes feels like an auto include. Dark Aura Foul Play is a stupid button that does stupid damage to basically everything. I also think Dark Pulse is a bit underrated on this set, allowing SCARFTAL to sweep from more positions against foes like Eternatus and Zygarde and also can let you hax your way to victory with no counterplay from most teams. Of course, you need to first deal with the opponent's Arceus Dark, so I have Fezandipiti and Ho-Oh to wear it down.
