SV OU Power herb Solar Beam Heatran Grassy Terrain HO [Peaked 1881, #39]

Happy new year! I like grassy terrain HO and decided to make another one, and somehow ended up getting the highest in the ladder I've ever been? Then lost twice in a row to top 30 players.

Rillaboom
Just the standard utility set on Smogon, here to set up grassy terrain for the rest of the team. Grassy Glide is a must, U-turn for pivoting, and Knock Off because it's just one of the most spammable moves in the game. Low Kick is nice for steels, and has caught a Kingambit and Tera Steel Clodsire off guard, winning me the game.

Hawlucha
If you've got Grassy Terrain, you need an unburden sweeper, right? Hawlucha's the best one in the metagame right now, so it's also just the Smogon set for it. Heatran baiting ground moves for Hawlucha to encore the opponent into is really nice, since it allows for a free Swords Dance. It's swept several teams entirely after just a bit of weakening.

Comfey
I love Comfey; mostly due to Triage, since it allows literally any move with a healing effect to be used before even Extreme Speed??? This thing would be so good if it had better stats. Grassy Seed and Calm Mind allows it to raise its bulk on both sides while setting up its special attack, and Draining Kiss is basically a must on Comfey. Stored Power lets it break through mons that resist Draining Kiss; yes, even most steel types like Corviknight and non-Nasty Plot Gholdengo, with just pure base power. I opted for Tera Poison Synthesis over Tera Blast to let it more easily set up, since it can just sit there Calm Minding up thanks to the consistent healing of Synthesis. This thing has genuinely saved me from games where I was on the back foot by sweeping everything left end game.

Heatran
Weird Heatran set, I know. I actually found it off an old Smogon post and replaced Power Gem with Taunt. It's the team's only Ice and Flying resists, so it's a nice defensive backbone, and also lures, traps, and removes water and rock types with Grassy Terrain boosted Power Herb Solar Beam. It has a chance to OHKO non-AV Alomomola from full and does a huge chunk to Garganacl as well, and can trap and remove the annoying Galarian Slowking by preventing Chilly Reception with Taunt.

Great Tusk
Attack booster Great Tusk. It removes hazards and boosts its own speed with Rapid Spin, allowing it to outspeed much of the unboosted metagame and threaten a lot of KOs, even on physical walls, with 120 BP STAB moves coming off a 131 base attack with a 30% boost. For example, Close Combat always 2HKOs Corviknight after Stealth Rock. It also checks Kingambit.

Pecharunt
I thought Pecharunt would benefit from Grassy Terrain weakening Earthquake, but in reality, most ground moves I faced were either Headlong Rush from Great Tusk or Earth Power from Kyurem or Enamorus. I went with Colbur Berry to weaken Dark type moves, since Earthquake would already be weakened by Grassy Terrain. Originally, I had Tera Ground Tera Blast, but I replaced it with Tera Ghost and Recover because I was rarely terastalizing it, and there were a lot of situations I would have liked to have Recover

Conclusion:
One of the most fun and THE most successful team I've built. The Heatran set is weird, and maybe the team needs some more speed? I don't know. If you have any suggestions or criticisms please leave a reply. Thank you!

Solid team and congrats on the peak. I'm pretty sure I played this team on the ladder. If we are talking in terms of rating and improvement, Kyurem is by far public enemy number 1, 2, and 3 for this version. Heatran doesn't want to take a Specs Earth Power to the face and Comfey isn't enough to act as a failsafe. The one replay in the post with Kyurem let Hawlucha seep through and get away with it, but that's not always going to happen. I admit there is no clean fix to patch this. Adding speed to Hawlucha's EV spread to creep Kyurem outside of terrain is a minor tweak that could help (180 EVs will do it) at the cost of always living a Make it Rain from Gholdengo. Probably worth the trade for this team. More speed as a whole doesn't matter for this type of team because you have enough priority and speed control baked in.

The only swap I would make would be to replace Pecharunt with Gholdengo to add redudancy against Kyurem (primarily) and secondarily Iron Crown and Corviknight. The cleanest swap would be a bulkier Air Balloon Gholdengo for Pecharunt's role. Pecharunt itself works well on teams like this, but the answers Pecharunt handles (Zamazenta and Dragonite) have some redundancy. Kyurem does not. I'll post the set I would use (it's the one in the Smogdex if you want more clarification on its general use) with the caveat that any bulky set will do the trick here. I wouldn't touch the rest of the team outside of adding enough speed creep to taste on Hawlucha.
