Last week's winners are
:iron moth:by Hittite Jumpscare
and :chesnaught:by Invisible Water.

They will be added to the Hall of Fame shortly.

This week's victim is another nuclear special wallbreaker. Raging Bolt is seeing more set diversity on the ladder, and one of these sets is Choice Specs with Weather Ball in sun.

Raging Bolt @ Choice Specs
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Special Attack / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Thunderclap
- Weather Ball

It's strong enough to smack Ting-Lu for huge damage given Weather Ball in sun and Draco Meteor absolutely chunk Ting-Lu hard, which can either cripple the enemy team's defensive backbone or outright bowl over Ting-Lu and give you more opportunities to dish out huge damage.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Protosynthesis Tera Fairy Raging Bolt Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 295-348 (57.3 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Protosynthesis Tera Fairy Raging Bolt Weather Ball (100 BP Fire) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu in Sun: 227-268 (44.1 - 52.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
It's a very powerful wallbreaker with very little defensive counterplay. What innovations can handle this offensive powerhouse?

Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Fairy
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Tera Blast
- Grass Knot

Thundurus-Therian is a check. Volt Absorb gives it an immunity to Raging Bolt's Electric attacks, and with Tera Fairy, it becomes immune to Draco Meteor as well. This gives Thundurus opportunities to switch in relatively unscathed and begin setting up. Tera Blast Fairy is a guaranteed OHKO at +2 before Raging Bolt Terastallizes, while +2 Thunderbolt does so after hazard chip post-Tera.

It does get vaporized by any move from Raging Bolt that it isn't currently immune to (unless the Bolt user decides to click Weather Ball while Sun isn't up for some reason), but making Raging Bolt unable to click STAB moves without putting itself at great risk is nice.

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

Due to the sun already being up, Tusk gets a Protosynthesis boost. Combined with CB, Headlong is a guaranteed OHKO on Tera Fairy Bolt. IF Sun runs out on the turn Tusk switches in for some reason, Tusk can Tera Fairy on the Draco (since who is clicking Thunderbolt) and still KO, while surviving a 50 BP Weather Ball.

Scream Tail @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wish
- Disable
- Protect
- Play Rough

The crux of this moveset, Disable. Scream can switch in ONCE on any of Bolt's attack. If it's Draco, good job. If it isn't, don't fret. Just Disable it. Then Bolt can't do anything. Then you heal up with Wish, and chip it down with Play Rough. What if Disable runs out, and Bolt somehow survives the Play Rough chip and Struggle damage, and Scream isn't healthy enough to tank another hit? Then you can Tera Dragon to resist both Weather Ball and Thunderbolt. This is certainly less reliable than Blissey, but our options are thin.

This week’s victim is one that has been called a fraud in the past, but with the recent rise of screens, it has received more attention than ever before and seems to have beaten the fraud allegations. I’m talking about Iron Crown, the Future Paradox Pokémon. The set we will look at this week is:

Pok%C3%A9mon-Icon_1023_KAPU.png

Iron Crown @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 84 HP / 172 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Tachyon Cutter
- Psychic Noise / Psyshock
- Focus Blast

This is the preferred set on hyper offensive teams, especially screens/veil teams, because the combination of Quark Drive boosting its Speed and Calm Mind boosting its offensive power, on top of solidifying its Specially Defensive side, makes it extremely threatening. Iron Crown's typing lets it resist common priority moves like Extreme Speed and Grassy Glide. Terastallizing into a fighting type not only boosts its power, giving it a third very complementary STAB option, while also turning the tables against Sucker Punch users. Are you strong enough to break its iron armor, or will it hold onto its crown by being too futuristic and advanced?

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 224 HP / 252 SpD / 32 Spe
Careful Nature
- Thunder Wave

- Wish
- Protect

The dice is certainly in your favour. Use TWave then just spam Iron Head. They can Focus Blast twice, and they can try to Calm Mind, but the chance to hit Focus Blast is... 21%. (0.7 x 0.4 x 0.75). Even if you hit it enough times, Wish exists! Using Psynoise just gives another chance for Jirachi to do its business. 32 Speed EVs is too outspeed Crown after Para.
Sample Games:
Silly Tera Turn 1: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-2516264303
Game where the Jirachi player isn't playing optimally, and Crown gets rather lucky: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-2516265889

Technically, Iron Crown can be lucky by setting up, then hitting its first Focus Blast on the switch, getting the 10% Sp. Def drop, then Jirachi misses its TWave, then you Tera Fighting to ensure the KO by landing a second Focus Blast, but that's only a 0.49% chance! What would be the chances that would eVeR happen????!!!!???!!?!

It turns out that if this Gholdengo goes Nasty Plot into Shadow Ball into Make It Rain (into improvise from there if Iron Crown goes for a bunch of Calm Minds), Iron Crown cannot break Gholdengo quickly enough before it gets KOed as long as it starts off with no boosts.

Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Tera Type: Water
Calm Nature
- Torch Song
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Slack Off

Skeledirge is a counter. It resists Tachyon Cutter, is immune to Focus Blast in its base typing, and doesn't take much damage from Iron Crown's Psychic attacks, avoiding the 2HKO even if Stealth Rock is up. Thanks to Unaware, no amount of Calm Mind boosts can change that, and forgoing boots for Covert Cloak means that Skeledirge is mostly safe from Psychic Noise shenanigans. In return, unboosted Torch Song is a 2HKO against an un-Terastallized Iron Crown, and Hex can potentially OHKO after burn damage. If it does Terastallize, then Skeledirge needs more boosts to KO, but it doesn't change the amount of damage Iron Crown deals back.

Tera Water is chosen over Tera Fairy here to maintain the Steel resistance in case Skeledirge ever has to Terastallize itself.

- Torch Song
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Slack Off

Skeledirge is a counter. It avoids the 2HKO from either of Iron Crown's Psychic attacks and resists the others, with Unaware preventing Iron Crown from simply muscling through with enough Calm Mind boosts. In return, unboosted Torch Song is a 2HKO pre-Tera, and Hex is very nearly an OHKO if you burn Iron Crown first. Post-Tera, you'll need more boosts to reach a comparable level of damage, but Iron Crown doesn't get any stronger and eventually the damage adds up.

Tera Water is chosen over Tera Fairy here to maintain the Steel resistance in case Skeledirge ever has to Terastallize itself.

This is not a counter either since Torch Song is a 3HKO on Tera Fighting Iron Crown, and Iron Crown's Psychic Noise KOes Skeledirge 75% of the time in 4 hits provided that Iron Crown hits Skeledirge on the switch with a Psychic Noise.

Here's my counter:

Dondozo (F) @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Special Defense Dondozo with Covert Cloak counters this Iron Crown set. The reason she is Tera Dark is so you resist Shadow Ball, Kowtow Cleave, and Poltergeist since Ceruledge's Poltergeist shreds even physically defensive Dondozo, and Ceruledge is a hard mon to check in general. Crunch is so you have STAB when you Tera to hit Tera Ghost Ceruledge and so none of your moves heal Ogerpon-Wellspring and also to hit Iron Crown if it doesn't Tera.
