hii!!! i've been having a lot of fun and a decent amount of success with this team, and i wanna see if there's anything i can do to iron out the flaws c:
Star (Ribombee) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Shield Dust
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sticky Web
- Moonblast
- Stun Spore
- Skill Swap
the requisite web setter for a webs team! spreads a lot of paralysis along with serperior, which helps a lot with both extra speed control and fishing for substitute setup chances. moonblast also does a good job of punishing greedy great tusks who want to try and rapid spin right away, and skill swap, along with the usual use of getting past magic bounce, has also helped out in some more niche scenarios, like scouting whether a clodsire is unaware or water absorb or temporarily removing neutralizing gas from weezing so gholdengo can block defog from it for a bit
Snakel From Frands (Serperior) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Tera Blast
- Glare
- Substitute
the core of the team! everything here's designed around setting serp up to shred everything with leaf storm (and tera blast when needed). in games where i can afford a bit more switching than usual, it also functions as an early-game paralysis spreader, and can chip away some crucial health-when up against the right team, this thing can end games all on its own right from the jump. in most cases, though, that's where the rest of these guys come in!
Sting Cheeze (Gholdengo) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
you know any webs team worth its salt has gotta have the dengo. pretty standard offensive nasty plot moveset, helps a lot in dealing with things like dragonite that this team is otherwise terrified of. very uncertain on the moveset for this one; currently using tbolt over make it rain to slam corviknight and surprise moltres, the twin banes of this team's existence-have found myself sorely missing both make it rain and psyshock on multiple occasions, though.
Zazamenta (Zamazenta) @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Substitute
again, pretty standard ironpress zama set! sort of functions as a second, physically-oriented serperior; sub setter than can boost ridiculously fast and crush teams that are either unprepared or have the tiniest of holes opened. it's not uncommon to make a sub and still have it be up by the time leftovers has entirely recuperated the damage-again, though, HATES to see a weezing-g coming.
Fiona (Ogerpon-Wellspring) (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Horn Leech
- Knock Off
adamant ogerpon-w is TERRIFYING. can find opportunities to sd fairly often, and a boosted ivy cudgel is basically this team's last hope against corviknight if dengo is taken out of the picture too early. i find the adamant nature and other powerful grass attacker on the team helps make up for horn leech's lack of raw damage compared to power whip, and the extra reliability is a godsend on a team that's already dependent on a 90-accuracy move. knock off is here over play rough mainly to help get rid of boots
Chess Mate (Kingambit) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
the most bog standard gambit imaginable, but it still works!! priority's vital in case of boots, fliers, or a successful spin/defog that keep webs from doing their job. main job is that it's basically this team's only good answer to boots/clear body dragapult, which outspeeds and threatens everything else here. can also act as a backup spinblocker if backed into a corner, although this doesn't come into play very often since serp wants to tera in the vast majority of games.
there's the team as it stands! i've experimented with rillaboom over ogerpon for grassy terrain support to beef up leaf storm and provide more sub opportunities, but it seemed to give corv too many openings on a team that already struggles with it. biggest hole i can spot rn is a lack of hazard removal, which usually doesn't pose that big a threat since the team is fast paced enough that i can usually stop too many hazards from going up and don't need to switch too often, but glimmora is a HUGE problem. i def wanna keep serperior as the core of this team, but am open to any other pokemon replacements or moveset change suggestions-thank u!!!
