Resource ORAS OU Teambuilding Competition 2025

Congratulations to mixnite for winning this week!!
Core week this time, and it's a special one for me. The core itself is................................ GRAVITY!
:xy/Alakazam-Mega: :xy/Landorus-Therian: :xy/Clefable: :xy/Mew: :xy/Golurk:
The idea is that you have to build a team that takes advantage of the move Gravity. I will not impose a limit on Gravity users, but the more the merrier!!!
I hope you have fun building this week!
Deadline is December 12th noon gmt +1.

This team has 2 gravity setters and 3 abusers

Clefable is a bastard mon that threatens to beat most pokemon with twave meaning the only thing that can safely switch into it is excadrill which brings us to our first abuser

Scarf Lando is one of the most obvious that comes to mind when using gravity most teams only have serp as an actual ground resist which isn't too hard to chip away at with repeated eq's or a u-turn read.

Gengar cause accurate hypnosis and focus blast makes this thing a better breloom

Jirachi cause I wanted a rocker that wasn't on a scarf mon, another gravity pokemon and a u-turn pivot and a clefable, serperior check

Rotom-W so you don't die to sand

ZardY cause fire blast and focus blast nukes are good and inferno cause why not.

team summary: This team uses a double Gravity core with Cresselia and Chansey to make life easier for your breakers. Mega Alakazam and Keldeo both love the accuracy boost, letting them land Focus Blasts and Hydro Pumps without worrying. Landorus-T sets rocks and can threaten teams with Swords Dance, especially when Gravity removes Ground immunities. Excadrill handles hazard removal and becomes a lot harder to switch into under Gravity as well i know it has mold breaker but hitting flying type is PEAK. Chansey and Cresselia keep the team healthy and stable while helping your main attackers break through walls more easily.

Gravity means flyers get hit by spikes. and a lot of mons that can fit on a spike stack structure can get or abuse gravity. I think this performs exceptionally well vs teams that rely on latias/zapdos for hazard clear. Volcarona can be a little poor of a MU and ZardY can be a menace if you path poorly.

MZam + Keld is an offensive core that I think does a really good job at killing just about anything that's in front of them with minimal to some assistance from outside sources of damage. Specs Keld is berserk strong, and having potential no miss stab focus blast means we blow up everything. I'm aware Alakazam gets gravity and if you want you could put it on him, but just my personal preference I don't want to have to be activating the gravity with my frail damage dealer. (This is mostly cuz my pathing sucks, you absolutely can run gravity on it if you want to free up a slot on ferro/clef)

Lando is like gravity poster boy/setter so he's kind of a no brainer. Earthplate makes his spammed eqs hurt more. He can set down gravity, spam very strong stab eq's with minimal penalty and uturn on stuff he doesn't want to fight. His job is simple.

I didn't know ferro got gravity, but he does. Running knock w/ it to get lefties off of everything allowing spikes/toxic spikes to wear down things more easily. He's our best bet vs special attackers and is juiced for SpDef because manaphy gives me nightmares.

Clef is dark resist w/ keld. This could probably be swapped for a different Mon, I was rushing (sorry Aven) gravity + fire blast helps cut through the standard SpDef biased Jolly drill's a little nicer and adds a layer of defense towards our spikes for drill's trying to switch in repeatedly. If I get time later before submissions close I will probably look at different options here in this slot.

Lastly is cofag. Spin block extraordinaire and t spike setter. Laughs in the face of MMedi and enjoys the benefits of it's toxic spikes actually poisoning everything. not named gliscor.

So when I saw that this weeks theme is Gravity, I knew I had to build a team with SD Lando. This Lando set is able to put a lot of pressure onto slower and more bulky teams with its massive base attack, which can be boosted to absurd levels. Setting up Gravity means that Rotom-W and Zapdos are no answers anymore. Knock Off is just a filler move, since you will be clicking EQ most of the time anyways (no need to Stone Edge with Gravity). Somtimes it can be handy to remove certain items like AV from opposing Torn-T (for Keld and our Torn). Lando also has enough speed to outrun Jolly Exca, thats it.

The second Mon thats gonna make use of Gravity is Keldo. Never fear missing Hydros or Focus Misses anymore with the help of Gravity! Focus Blast Keldo hits like a truck and needs no further introduction I believe.

Most players expect a regular AV Torn, but with Gravity up LO Torn can catch some off guard and now actually hits its moves.

Mega Altaria gives me one more water resist and second answer to Serp, since Torn isnt AV and therefore could lose to being paralyzed. Mono fairy coverage can turn out to be rough but I really wanted to put Sing on its set because its the big surprise of the team. Sing has a 92% chance to hit and can give M. Altaria free setup.

Ferro is the steel type and SR setting of my choice which also works as my second Gravity setter. Just my regular pivot to de-escalate critical situations. Now to my next surprise: Custap Berry Ferro. This enables a last ditch effort to set up Gravity one last time even if its extremely low. EV spread is for M. Diancie and Manaphy. Lacking Leftovers and Leech Seed can feel terrible sometimes but Power Whip is needed for Manaphy. If you dont fear Manaphy then Leech Seed > Power Whip is an option.

My answer for scary Mons like M. Meta, M. Scizor, M. Pinsir and Weavile is Rotom-W. Its a very needed ice resist and can grab momentum here and there.

Threat list: Weavile and offensive steel types can turn out to be a problem, because Keldeo needs to stay healthy for that and Rotom-W has a hard time switching into CB Weavile Knock Off and Zen M. Meta. Kyurem and Kyurem-B can claim many takedown here if played correctly. M. Lop can also become a big threat if everyone starts losing a ton of HP on the team.

Overall this team is kind of a gamble because of all these gimmicks that can either win you the game or backfire quickly.

Team was made quick, I'll edit post for beauty later if I get time.

MZam+Keld, they are the beaters/cleaners/breakers, they themselves don't set gravity ( you can put it on zam over encore if you want I don't care) but have moves that frequently miss attached to them. Specs Keld is a demon that no one respects like they should IMO.

Lando is like gravity poster boy/setter. Earthplate makes his spammed eqs hurt more.

lastly is cofag. Spin block extraordinaire and t spike setter. feels a little redundant with clef, like I said clef can probably be swapped for something.
Ferro has no item, EVs and nature when I open the link.

Late, but i don't see a vote yet so I'll post anyway since Gravity team was the first one i took to top 5 on the ladder back in gen 7.

Gravity team focused on Band Excadrill with Eject button Slowbro to get it in easier. Brief Summary:

Excadrill: Star of the show. CB earthquake with gravity really only has issues with Tangrowth.
Lando-T: Suicide lead variant. Super easy to get up gravity, and boom (or put up rocks)
Ferro: Backup Gravity setter.
Mega T-Tar: Gets up sand; backup sweeper if drill goes down.
Heatran: Scarf. Takes advantage of perfectly accurate magma storms and overheat under gravity, and blows up the pesky grass/bug types that resist EQ.
Slowbro: Eject Button tank. Use to get Drill in on turn 2 pretty easily.

Apologies for the extra long hiatus but the long awaited voting period for the Gravity week (don't count the extra time please) has arrived!!! Very cool teams overall, may the best win!
