SV OU Amateur Team, advice appreciated [peaked high 1400s]

Amateur Team
I wanted to build a SV OU team, so I tried to assemble it based on the SV OU Viability Rankings and Pikalytics, while using movesets recommended by each team member's Smogon page. I tried to prioritize Pokémon with high viability rankings, but after a losing streak, I realized the team might have some issues and decided to seek other opinions and alternatives to improve it. Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated!

Here's my team (click for PokéPaste):

Team breakdown:

Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Roar

Initially, I had considered three options for this member: Great Tusk:great-tusk:, Iron Valiant:iron-valiant: and Zamazenta:zamazenta:. I ultimately chose IronPress Zamazenta due to its great defensive capability, being able of to deter a good amount of physical attackers by using Iron Defense and hitting back with Body Press. Crunch is there for Ghost-type coverage and Roar is there to deter opponents that try to setup on Zamazenta. Tera Fire is for avoiding Will-O-Wisp. While I found this is a great Pokémon overall, I believe it currently has some issues regarding Fairy-type coverage (mainly against Iron Valiant:iron-valiant: and Clefable:clefable:) and Toxic. For those, I could use Heavy Slam and Substitute instead of Roar, but I like being able to shut off setup sweepers and Booster Energy users with Zamazenta. If using one of those two moves, or replacing Zamazenta altogether is a better option, please let me know!

Gholdengo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Make It Rain
- Trick
- Focus Blast

I also considered using Kingambit:kingambit:, but went for Gholdengo:gholdengo: as it's more commonly found as a teammate for Zamazenta than Kingambit is. When I am not running Sticky Web, I usually cater to Scarf Gholdengo for its increased. Otherwise, I believe Gholdengo suffers from being too slow. Shadow Ball and Make It Rain are STAB options. I believe Gholdengo itself is useful against Fairy- and Ghost-types that Zamazenta:zamazenta: struggles against, and can absorb status moves that threaten it with Good as Gold. Trick is useful for locking foes into one move only, and Focus Blast is there for Dark-type coverage, along with Tera Fighting. I found that often Gholdengo has some issues when the opponent switches out their Pokémon, but that might just be prediction problems. It's also not very good against Sucker Punch users, like the occasional Lokix:lokix:, and Scarf Darkrai:darkrai:/Meowscarada:meowscarada:, though Gholdengo can use Tera Fighting to defend itself.

Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner

I chose Dragonite:dragonite: for a setup sweeper with speed control using Extreme Speed. I tried using the Dragon Dance + Tera Blast set, but I believe that one is flawed if I choose another Pokémon to Tera (usually defensively), leaving me with an useless move. Both Earthquake and Ice Spinner are for coverage, but it has problems with airborne Steel-types, so I wonder if Fire Punch may be a good alternative. Heavy-Duty Boots are there so it doesn't take damage from Stealth Rock (also because of the lack of hazard control). Other Dragon-types i had considered are Kyurem:kyurem:, Dragapult:dragapult: and Raging Bolt:raging-bolt:, but i chose Dragonite due to Extreme Speed (also, Dragapult repeats the Ghost-type with Gholdengo:gholdengo:).

Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ruination
- Whirlwind

Admittedly, Ting-Lu:ting-lu: was chosen based on viability rankings alone, without considering teammates, but I found that it's really nice with its specially defensive capabilities, being immune to Psychic-type moves that threaten Zamazenta:zamazenta: and resisting Ghost-type moves that threaten Gholdengo:gholdengo:. I like using it against special attackers like Galarian Slowking:slowking-galar: and Dragapult:dragapult:, but they often hit it back with Will-O-Wisp. I feel like it is also vulnerable to foes like Tornadus-Therian:tornadus-therian:. Ting-Lu serves as the hazard setter of the team with Stealth Rock, and can force switch outs with Whirlwind. Earthquake is a Ground STAB and Ruination is for physically defensive and airborne foes. I feel like Gholdengo also complements Ting-Lu's Fighting weakness, and Zamazenta can switch in to take damage in case a physical attacking foe is in the field. However, the lack of reliable recovery in Ting-Lu is worrying.

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Trailblaze
- Play Rough

Ogerpon-Wellspring:ogerpon-wellspring: helps by being immune to Ting-Lu's:ting-lu: Water weakness and setting up with Swords Dance and Trailblaze. Ivy Cudgel is its STAB and Play Rough is useful for Dragon-type coverage. I used utility Ogerpon in the past, but i felt like it didn't really have the necessary offensive power, so i swapped it for Swords Dance Ogerpon. This Pokémon is useful in some cases, but I feel like it's not very useful right now. Opponents usually switch into something that resists its moves, and with no pivot option (U-Turn), I am forced to switch. In fact, Play Rough is only in its moveset due to the lack of Dragon coverage across the team. Ogerpon also doesn't have reliable recovery without giving up on a move, so I don't really know what to do with this one. It's also vulnerable to burns currently, and it struggles with switching in safely.

Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Future Sight
- Flamethrower

The last member of the team is Galarian Slowking:slowking-galar:. It pairs fairly well with the other members, especially Zamazenta:zamazenta:, since one complements the weaknesses of the other and both have different defensive capabilities, one for each stat. I do feel like Slowking is redundant with Ting-Lu:ting-lu:, but I don't really know what options to use instead. Overall, I find Slowking to be great against special attackers, but frail against physical attackers. Chilly Reception is the much needed pivoting option, Sludge Bomb is STAB against Fairy-types and Grass-types, Future Sight helps pressure the foe into switching into a Dark-type, setting up a switch in for Zamazenta and Flamethrower helps against the likes of Corviknight:corviknight: and Air Balloon Gholdengo:gholdengo: that try to switch in. I am only running Flamethrower due to these airborne Steel-types, otherwise I would run a status condition move like Toxic or Thunder Wave.

Overall, I feel like team struggles with Dragon-types, Fairy-types like Iron Valiant:iron-valiant: or Hatterene:hatterene:, stall teams in general (especially Dondozo:dondozo:), hazard setters (there's no way of removing hazards, currently), Galarian Weezing:weezing-galar:, airborne Steel-types like Corviknight:corviknight: and Air Balloon Heatran:heatran:/Gholdengo:gholdengo:, Flying-types, and Fire-types, among other threats. Again, any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I would replace the zamazenta with Corvinight. Probably Iron press roost and defog. It should help against fairies and hazards and add longevity. The other option is to ditch ironpress on Corv and should instead use u-turn and rocks. In that case I would change you ting lu set to Rest Sleep Talk EQ and either whirlwind or ruination. Just some suggestions to refine the team and manage the weaknesses

This is a really good first team and a lot better than you are giving it credit for. As is, you can probably reach even higher than the mid 1400s solely with more experience playing the tier. Even the things in your final paragraph you actually have really good answers for already. I can sense the analytical flavor bigtime. The upside to that flavor is it provides a ton of solid outs that you may not even realize you have. The downside is the learning curve for this type of team is incredibly high.

For team modifications, I would go Heavy Slam over Roar on Zamazenta because your Iron Valiant conclusion is spot on. Iron Valiant has a ton of weapons and it's hard to tell from Team Preview which of those weapons you need to have answers for even if you do have answers. SV as a tier is not always checkers where I can guarantee something always checks something, especially with Tera flipping answers mid turn. That leads to having to cover weird and volatile threats at a level that just isn't present in other tiers or generations.

Your comment on Slowking-Galar as redundant is actually insightful and accurate. It looks on paper as a good answer for this team, but in practice I don't know if the team needs what it provides. I would swap it for Cinderace. Court Change gives you an out against heavy hazard setting teams. Pyro Ball provides an out to handle Corviknight (watch for PP though with Pressure), and U-turn maintains the pivoting that Slowking-Galar had. I posted the standard Smogdex bulky pivot set below, but I run 112 EVs to make sure I can 2HKO Corviknight.

Probably wouldn't make more adjustments beyond that other than look at going Horn Leech over Trailblaze if Ogerpon-W wears down too much during matches. It also swings the Alomomola matchup decisively in your favor that is huge if you make the Galarian Slowking swap.

Good luck with the team! Final adjustments below:

:sv/Cinderace:
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 224 HP / 32 Atk / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Fire
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- U-turn
- Court Change
- Will-O-Wisp / Sucker Punch

Zamazenta: Heavy Slam over Roar
Ogerpon-W: Horn Leech over Trailblaze
