NOC Tracker Jailer Follower - Game Thread - Its Over!

Having to policy vote lurkers who lurk as either alignment is a bad bet, you're willing to do it early when the odds of finding scum are relatively close to rand but the way games are designed you need to be voting with odds above rand to win. This can still end up being the case later if you have a large number of confirmed town but it never feels good to do it. You didn't figure anything out, you just got lucky this time. People who lurk as town so they can have better scumgames and then get indignant when you try to vote them for lurking because "they do it as town" are the absolute worst.

I don't join NOCs when I see a bunch of known afkers sign up. I take myself out of the equation rather than let myself become frustrated. But I will happily defend perceived "bad" but active players. If you're talking, contributing, and paying attention and absorbing info, I'm happy with you and your participation in the game. The beauty of mafia is that your experience and perspective is uniquely yours. Everyone's is necessary to solve the game. People, especially those with big egos, are quick to be aggressive with people they think are stupid or wrong cause "no town could think like this", but that is shortsighted imo and causes the lurking problem because inexperienced people become afraid to speak up out of fear of being wrong.

I genuinely think that this game wasnt lost because of the mafia lurkers, they would've been catched pretty quickly if town had made competent play. And by competent play I am not saying that the votes should've been others, but that most of town played contrary on how a real town should play the game out. Both Town Power were throwing accusations in Day 2, throwing the spotlight on them. Phoopes lied hours before claiming his role, Pulsar was afk for the whole duration of Day 1, there were 4 no votes in Day 1, Jalmont refused to accuse anyone for the whole duration of the game and AirC was afk for the whole duration of Day 1.

Just how and for what reason should we be voting the AFK mafia if Town as a whole were making plays that didnt benefit their faction on the slightest? I will say that if it were any other game Des, Pebble and Neon would've been the first to go as we wouldn't have any valid accusations that could've been made. But when Town itself tries to make plays that are to the detriment of their faction, we will never be able to reasonably do any policy votes.

I'm not talking about the explicit results of this game, which I barely read. By your own admission there were town afk as well which is the exact nature of the problem. I'm not saying you "should" have voted the afk mafia in any situation. Quite the opposite, any afk players at all represent a generic threat to the game.

People playing "incorrectly" by putting the spotlight on themselves or not accusing at the right time or whatever is either up to subjective interpretation or at high levels subject to WIFOM when what "correct" town behavior is as widely known to the point you're implying. It is very frustrating when poor town play from others causes you to lose, and I've been there, but that just isn't the fixable problem here. Experience will come with time.

You should take some responsibility for your own gameplay instead of blaming others for choking the game.

The fact of the matter is you and Celever were outplayed by Neon, someone who made 2 game related posts since the New Year. Don't blame anyone but yourself. By your own words, you came into the last day voting me, didn't talk to me at all, and botched the game. You and Celever literally would have lost to an afk neon if there hadn't been a sub in that situation. That's what you should be reflecting upon, not how other people didn't play up to your standards or whatever.

You didn't even vote on day 1 how can you be talking about other people being afk???
