Randbats Spotlight Tournament
Welcome to the eighteenth bimonthly Spotlight Tour! This iteration will feature the recently elected BSS Factory (Bo3) format. This tournament is your chance to showcase your skills in BSS Factory in a single elimination Best of three format.*
*Unlike previous spotlights, the best of 3 structure is already implemented once you challenge your opponent to this format. To make sure everyone gets to play enough games, we have decided that the structure is going to be a "best of 3 within the best of 3". This means that winning two best of 3 series will make you advance to the next round. In the best case scenario you'll only need 4 games to finish the whole series.
What is BSS Factory?
Each battle, you will have 6 unique Pokemon to choose from, with movesets catered to the BSS format. You will select 3 of these Pokemon, with the first Pokemon selected being your lead. Select your 3 Pokemon, and play each turn wisely! There is much less room to fall back on in this fast paced format, be sharp!
Prizes
The winner of the Spotlight Tournament will receive the Room Prize Winner rank in the Random Battles room for a month and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!
How does the tour work?
It’s simple:
1. Contact your opponent on their Smogon wall and decide on a time to battle.
2. Battle each other in the format “Gen 9 BSSF Best of 3”. This format can be found under 'Randomized Format Spotlight', at the top of the third column. Alternatively, use /challenge BSS Factory @@@ best of=3
3. The first player to 2 set wins advances to the next round.
Note that this tournament will end before the next Randbats Spotlight Ladder commences, i.e., before March 2026. This will determine the pace of the tournament.
Please note:
1. All scheduling attempts MUST be done publicly on Smogon Walls. No other proof of communication will count for act calls regarding scheduling attempts.
2. You MUST post replays of your wins.
We strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the Smogon Tournament Rules and General Guidelines, if you haven’t already. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact the tour hosts, unaware clodsire , 35Q71N and HarryOtter69 here on Smogon.
If you're late and want to participate, post "in as sub" and you'll replace a random bye and receive an opponent for this week. The deadline for late signups is 14th Jan at 12pm GMT.
