SV OU New to competitive please rate my team :)

Hi, I'm pretty new to competitive battling, and I wanted to get more into it with the release of Champions coming up. The team mainly consists of mons that I enjoy, and that have some competitive viability. I know my Luxray is pretty sub-optimal compared to the tera normal facade set, but I've always found that set boring. I would be open to anything that can improve the team, and I admittedly am pretty vulnerable to hazards and physical walls since most of my mons are physical attackers. Open to pretty much all suggestions.

Luxray @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Hp / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Supercell Slam
- Ice Fang
- Crunch
- Psychic Fangs

I chose Luxray mainly because it is my favorite Pokémon but it's pretty underrepresented competitively, and I fully understand why, but I feel like I can wheelchair him to success. Its mainly just a wall breaker with Supercell Slam and Ice Fang is for ground types, if it does happen to outspeed. Psychic fangs of course is take down screens and crunch is coverage with hopes for a defense drop.

Ceruledge @ Life Orb
Ability: Weak Armor
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bitter Blade
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak

I chose Ceruledge again because its a mon that I really like, is good coverage, has access to priority and self sustain. So it just seemed like a pretty pick for the team. Shadow Sneak is for priority mainly. Bitter Blade is there because its probably the most comfortable physical fire move Ceruledge gets. Swords Dance is there to take advantage of a turn where someone is more or less forced to switch and Close Combat is coverage.

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Dragon Tail
- Recover
- Flip Turn

I chose Milotic becuase I basically just needed some sort of Wall and Milotic is probably naturally my favorite from the options of stalls and walls. Scald is obviously for the burn which I just think is overall better than chilling water. Flip Turn is so it can get out unfavorable situations. Not sure how beneficial or useful it is. Dragon Tail has mainly been used to get rid of opponents Milotic doesnt really want to face as well stopping people from setting up. Recover naturally is to stall.

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aurora Veil
- Moonblast
- Blizzard
- Encore

I chose Ninetales predominately for Aurora Veil, I of course do really like the mon but the main purpose and role is to veil but she's great for most of the dragons I've encountered. I chose blizzard over freeze dry mainly for the extra power but because how common the water type is I'm rethinking the choice. Moonblast is just the strongest fairy move she gets access to. Encore is a filler I'm not sure if that or calm mind is better.

Garchomp @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Scale Shot
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail

Garchomp is who I'm most conflicted about because I'm not the biggest fan of this set but I understand, I've just been having poor experience with scale shot. Swords Dance of course is to set up. Dragon Tail is one him for a similar reason as Milotic, just to unfavorable match ups out off the field. Earthquake, naturally for STAB and high base power.

Scizor @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dual Wingbeat
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Knock Off

Scizor's main role is to pivot. I'm new to competitive battling, so this term overall is new to me, but he gives me steel coverage, dual wingbeat, and technician is pretty fun. I dont have much else to say besides that.

I can immediately a few major issues with this team. Ninetales is a awful mon for this type of team. Milotic is a very passive wall on a team that overall lacks longevity. Third issue is the life orb on the ceruledge. This is a balance team and with life orb the already frail ceruledge is even weaker. I would replace milotic with prim and replace ninetales with kinggambit. That could allow you to replace your garchomp with a spdef and spak lando. Psycic fangs can be replaced with facade to increase your offensive potential.

Thanks for the response, what item would you recommend for ceruledge? I'd assume the choice band? My main concern with getting rid of Ninetales is that Luxray wont be bulky enough on his own to survive some hits since its defenses, like its speed are below average. Also is Primarina preferred to Miltoic due to better typing and coverage?

Prim is better than mitotic mostly because it is much more offensively threatening. A calm mind hatt switches in on milo and it can do nothing while a prim can chunk hatt. Cereledge can run band however on this structure I think that a sash is better as a +2 ceruledge is almost impossible to stop without faster priority. Ultimitaly on this team if you want to keep luxray you do need to keep the ninetales. A dragon dance kyruem over scizor would be very bulky in snow. I think that luxray and garchomp overlap in their roles and so a utility great tusk set with stealth rocks would help support this balence. It also can help against raging bolt which would sort of wreck your team as you have no good resist.

Great Tusk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 104 HP / 140 Atk / 12 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

This is stolen from pinkacross and works wonders. Ceruledge and Luxray have similar roles right now and so I would either give ceruledge a sash or completley remove it for Glowking. It will help luxray enter a lot more often.

Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Future Sight
- Thunder Wave

Glowking will help luxray get in safely and outspeed opponents.

Here is the standard pure physical dd kyruem.

Kyurem @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Icicle Spear
- Tera Blast
- Scale Shot

I dont think that this team is going to be the best team ever even with these changes but I do think you could ladder without losing frequently because of how weak your team is. I think that this is a really good start for your competitive journey and milotic maybe should be used more but not on a team like this. A milo team that is more defensive oriented may work better. The thing with using ultra niche mons like luxray is that you must surround them with really standard and powerful mons like Tusk, Kyreum, Prim. I'll put in twoteams, the first is very based on yours and will be more flawed with a crippling hazard weakness, the second will be open to replacing mons completely and be something that you can win most games with if you play well. My brother made the original post and I am helping out with this second version. May luxray beat them all.

Tbh I'd suggest replacing alolan ninetales with CB rillaboom

My reason for suggesting rillaboom is grassy terrain recovery for luxray + halved eq (ik tusk exists) but still ninetales doesn't fit on this team kinda also Lux isn't a set up sweeper to need aurora veil it's a guts offensive Mon anyways good job on rebuilding this guys team
