VGC (Basculegion) [QC 2/2] We are Bascu. We are Legion.

[SET]
Rain Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Band
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Grass
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Last Respects
- Aqua Jet
- Flip Turn

[SET COMMENTS]
- Basculegion-M uses its high-Base Power STAB attacks like Wave Crash and Last Respects to claim knockouts in the early-game and secure wins in the late-game, respectively, as well as its Swift Swim ability to outspeed nearly the whole unboosted metagame under rain, giving it positive matchups against metagame staples such as Incineroar, Gholdengo, and Volcarona.
- Last Respects can reach an incredible Base Power of 200, threatening nearly every Pokemon that does not resist Ghost-type attacks with an OHKO. Aqua Jet allows Basculegion-M to pick off a foe at low health while avoiding Sucker Punch from Kingambit. Flip Turn allows it to deal damage and retreat to safety before being attacked.
- Choice Band maximizes Basculegion-M’s damage, notably improving the chance for Last Respects with two fainted teammates to OHKO Rillaboom.
- Tera Water maximizes the damage output of Basculegion-M's Water-type attacks, guaranteeing an OHKO against almost any Gholdengo set, and removes its weakness to Dark-type attacks such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch. Tera Grass allows Basculegion-M to survive any attack from Rillaboom, resist Electro Shot from Archaludon, and ignore Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss.
- The defensive investment allows Basculegion-M to survive a Grassy Glide from Rillaboom. With the Attack investment, Basculegion-M will always OHKO Incineroar in the rain with Wave Crash even after Intimidate. The Speed investment allows it to always outspeed Primarina.
- Choice-locked sets are inherently more risky to use, as being locked into the wrong move can lose an endgame. The Swift Swim set is riskier in terms of speed control, as it relies on its team to set up rain. This set has the potential to be faster than the Choice Scarf set, but without rain, its Speed and damage output can be underwhelming. It has the advantage of Choice Band providing a higher damage boost than Adaptability. This set, as well as the Choice Scarf set, are risky to use over the Focus Sash set as they can be knocked out with one hit.

[SET]
Choice Scarf Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Fighting
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wave Crash
- Last Respects
- Flip Turn
- Aqua Jet / Tera Blast

[SET COMMENTS]
- Choice Scarf Basculegion-M can be used on a team that does not have a way to set up rain to outspeed foes in any situation. Adaptability can make up for the decreased damage output. This set can finish off damaged teams with Last Respects without needing a Speed boost from rain.
- Because of Choice Scarf, Basculegion-M is likely to outspeed its foes, so it can use Flip Turn to switch into a bulkier ally when threatened. Tera Blast is only intended for the Tera Fighting set, in order to hit Kingambit and Archaludon.
- Tera Water can be used to amplify Basculegion-M's damage. Tera Fighting is used with Tera Blast to pressure Kingambit with an OHKO while resisting its Sucker Punch, and it also lets Basculegion-M resist Knock Off from Incineroar and Tyranitar.
- A Jolly nature with maximum Speed is necessary for the Choice Scarf set to outspeed Dragapult.
- Adaptability is always useful due to always providing a boost in some way, whereas Swift Swim is contingent on rain being active for Basculegion-M to benefit. However, this set will not do as much damage as the Choice Band set. The Choice Scarf set may not perform well against opposing speed control such as Trick Room, as it cannot use Protect to stall out turns of Trick Room.

[SET]
Focus Sash Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Last Respects
- Aqua Jet
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
- The Focus Sash set allows Basculegion-M to take a hit and return with strong attacks such as Liquidation and Last Respects.
- Liquidation is used over Wave Crash in order to avoid taking recoil damage and breaking Focus Sash.
- Tera Ghost is used with this set, as Last Respects is likely to become stronger than its weaker Water-type attacks.
- This set can survive a fast attack under Tailwind or Trick Room and use Protect to stall them out, making it generally better against opposing speed control compared to the other sets. However, it will not do as much damage as the Choice Band set and is unlikely to be able to threaten an early-game OHKO because it lacks Wave Crash. It can fit on a variety of teams due to it being self-sufficient in terms of damage output and not necessarily needing speed control.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Teambuilding
============
- Swift Swim sets only appear on rain teams, as otherwise Basculegion-M would be playing without an ability. The Choice Scarf Adaptability set typically appears on balance teams that benefit heavily from getting a quick OHKO against foes like Incineroar. The Focus Sash set can fit on either balance teams or on rain teams with speed control options, as it appreciates rain boosting the weaker Liquidation. Both the Choice Scarf and Focus Sash Adaptability sets can still benefit heavily from being on a rain team thanks to the Water-type damage amplification, despite not having Swift Swim.
- Pelipper’s Drizzle ability allows Swift Swim Basculegion-M to outspeed nearly the entire metagame, as well as boosting the damage of its Water-type attacks, while Pelipper itself can pressure opposing Grass-types with Hurricane. Archaludon can cover Basculegion-M’s weakness to Dark-type Pokemon such as Kingambit using Body Press, round out the offensive core of a rain team, and serve as a bulky pivot to be sent out after using Flip Turn, resisting attacks from Rillaboom and Kilowattrel.
- Incineroar can be used to ensure Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide will never OHKO even if Rillaboom has Miracle Seed and stop opposing Basculegion-M from getting an OHKO with unboosted Last Respects.
- Amoonguss and Sinistcha can use Rage Powder to redirect attacks that threaten to OHKO Basculegion-M, such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch and Kowtow Cleave, while improving the team’s matchup against Trick Room. Additionally, Sinistcha's Hospitality and Life Dew can be used to bring Basculegion-M back to full health to make use of Focus Sash, stay out of range of attacks like Grassy Glide from Rillaboom, and heal recoil damage from Wave Crash.
- Grass-type Pokemon like Amoonguss and Rillaboom stop Basculegion-M from sweeping through teams with Wave Crash, as Amoonguss can redirect and resist the attack, while Rillaboom is always threatening an OHKO with Wood Hammer. Pelipper can use Hurricane to hit these Pokemon for massive damage, or Basculegion-M outside of rain teams can be paired with Fire-types like Volcarona and Talonflame. Dark-type Pokemon like Incineroar and Kingambit threaten an OHKO against Basculegion-M and prevent it from sweeping with Last Respects, making Close Combat Sneasler a worthwhile partner. A Commander-boosted Dondozo can survive multiple Last Respects and resist any Water-type attacks. Archaludon can threaten Dondozo with Electro Shot, and Pelipper can punish Tera Grass Dondozo with Hurricane. Alternatively, teams can use Incineroar and Rillaboom along with Basculegion-M's Flip Turn to cycle Intimidate and Fake Out, or Multiscale Dragonite to safely remove Dondozo's stat boosts with Haze. Alolan Ninetales pairs well with the Choice Scarf set because it can hit Grass-types with Blizzard and Water-types like Dondozo with Freeze-Dry, while Basculegion-M covers for Alolan Ninetales's weakness to Fire-type Pokemon such as Incineroar. Opposing Archaludon are unlikely to be knocked out even by a maximum power Last Resepcts, so Fighting-type coverage from Annihilape and Sneasler and Ground-type coverage from Ursaluna-B is appreciated.

Strategy Comments
============
- Basculegion-M functions as a late-game cleaner or early-game wallbreaker with high Speed and damage. The Swift Swim sets need its team to set up rain to activate Swift Swim, or else it can be taken out by a quicker foe. It can secure endgames with high-Base Power Last Respects if its teammates have done enough damage to the opposing team. It can bail out of positions with Flip Turn while its teammates take out the foes that are preventing it from sweeping. In the early-game, it can remove the Ursaluna formes, which can allow a teammate like Archaludon to sweep.
- Basculegion-M can be used early or late in a battle, but it must be saved for the late-game if maximizing the damage of Last Respects is necessary. It can be used effectively in the early-game by knocking out a Pokemon such as Incineroar, which can allow a teammate like Gholdengo to sweep the opposing team. The Focus Sash set can clinch an endgame using combinations of Liquidation and Last Respects, but the Choice item sets must be more careful to leave foes that can be swept by one move for last.
- Sun teams can mitigate Basculegion-M’s Speed and offense, particularly for the Swift Swim set. Pokemon that set up sun upon switching in like Torkoal can be countered by keeping Pelipper in the back and switching it in when sun is up to overwrite it. Manual sun setters like Whimsicott must be taken out by a teammate like Incineroar with Flare Blitz or Archaludon with Flash Cannon, as switching in Pelipper will set up rain first, which will be canceled by Whimsicott’s Sunny Day. Alolan Ninetales can change rain to snow, take a hit from Basculegion-M and return damage with Freeze-Dry, and use Disable to nullify a Choice item set or Aurora Veil to mitigate its damage output. Basculegion-M can use Flip Turn to reposition until rain is set, and Pelipper can be lead into Alolan Ninetales because it is slower and so will activate Drizzle after Snow Warning, though an Alolan Ninetales in the back can still switch in to cancel rain. Tyranitar can overwrite rain with Sand Stream and can switch into Last Respects while breaking Focus Sash. Pelipper should expect to be faster than Tyranitar, so sand will be set up after rain. Thus, Pelipper is more likely to successfully set rain if it is reserved in the back or if Tyranitar is knocked out by Basculegion-M's teammates.

Hi I will qc this, however to save some time with rechecks could you redo the sets so Choice Band and Life Orb are one set while Choice Scarf is a different set? I realise the way the set was laid out in the reservation thread made this confusing.

I updated it and am a lot more happy with it but I still worry it might be a bit repetitive
Fighting Tera was on 6/18 Scarf sets at Pittsburgh and 3/15 Scarf sets at Frankfurt

Hi sorry this took a few days, I have been feeling unwell as I've been chipping away at this qc. Anyway just so you can see the progress, I've qced the 2 sets so far and will take a look at the teambuilding and strategy comments sections once you've made changes for the sets! Ping me here when you're done.

[SET COMMENTS]
- Basculegion-M Fix this for all instances uses its high Base Power STAB attacks like Wave Crash and Last Respects, as well as its Swift Swim ability to hit opponents for large amounts of damage at high speed Rewrite this to just mention the speed boost, this sounds like Swift Swim increases damage too which isn't true. It boasts positive matchups into metagame staples such as Incineroar, Dragapult, and Gholdengo.
- Last Respects can reach an incredible Base Power of 200, threatening nearly every Pokemon that does not resist Ghost-type attacks with an OHKO. Aqua Jet allows Basculegion to pick off a foe on low health. Flip Turn allows it to deal damage and retreat to safety before being attacked.
- Choice Band maximizes Basculegion’s damage, but without rain activating Swift Swim its middling speed can cause it to be knocked out before it moves. Move this to the pros and cons bullet point, instead I would mention any KOes Choice Band lets Basculegion achieve and you need to mention Life Orb here, mention an example of the damage difference between Choice Band and Life Orb through a damage calc
- Tera Water maximizes the damage output of Basculegion-M's Water-type attacks and removes the weakness to Dark-type attacks such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch. Tera Grass allows Basculegion to survive any Grass-type attack from Rillaboom, and ignore Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss.
- The defensive investment allows Basculegion to survive a Grassy Glide from Rillaboom with intermediate Attack investment. At -1 Attack it will always OHKO an Incineroar in the rain Mention with which attack.
- Choice locked sets are inherently more risky to use, and being locked into the wrong move can lose an endgame. The Choice Band set is riskier in terms of speed control as it relies on its team to set up rain. The Life Orb set enjoys the flexibility that a Choice set lacks at the cost of slightly less damage than the Choice Band set. You should be mentioning this in the items bullet point This set has the potential to be faster than the Choice Scarf set, but without rain its speed and damage output can be underwhelming. This bullet point is fine but it is meant to be more of a comparison between the Choice Band/Life Orb set vs the Choice Scarf set

Scarfed Choice Scarf
Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Scarf / Focus Sash Might as well add this to the set since it won Pittsburgh and has had notable usage at Monterrey and Pittsburgh
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Fighting / Ghost Focus Sash sets use Tera Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

- Aqua Jet / Tera Blast

[SET COMMENTS]

- This set will always be fast, so Flip Turn is likely to outspeed to allow Basculegion to switch into a bulkier pivot. Tera Blast is only intended for the Tera Fighting set, in order to hit Kingambit and Archaludon.
- Tera Water can be used to further make up for this set’s missing damage output. Tera Fighting is used with Tera Blast to pressure Kingambit with an OHKO while resisting its Sucker Punch.
- Jolly nature with maximum Speed is necessary for the Choice Scarf set to outspeed Dragapult.
- Adaptability is always useful, whereas Swift Swim is contingent on rain being active for Basculegion to benefit. However, this ability will not do as much damage as the Choice Band or Life Orb set with an Adamant nature. This set may not perform well against opposing speed control such as Tailwind and Trick Room.

RauSakura I updated it. Still not sure if I have the right things in the right spots for the pros/cons between sets; I figured I'd keep the comparisons between Band and Lorb, let me know if they should be removed to just keep Band/Lorb vs Scarf/Sash

There are a couple of things I would like you to expand on and I'll recheck the new content when you are done, good work though so far!

Opposing Archaludon are unlikely to be knocked out even by a maximum power Last Resepcts, so Fighting-type coverage from Annihilape and Sneasler is appreciated. Your info for the Swift Swim set is good but you don't really talk about team building options for the Adaptability set, provide more teammates for this set

============
- Basculegion-M functions as a sweeper with high speed and damage. It typically needs its team to set up rain to activate Swift Swim, or else it can be taken out by a quicker foe. It can secure endgames with high Base Power Last Respects if its teammates have done enough damage to the opposing team. It can bail out of positions with Flip Turn while its teammates take out the foes that are preventing it from sweeping.
- Basculegion-M can be used early or late into a battle, but it must be saved for the late game if maximizing the damage of Last Respects is necessary. It can be used effectively in the early game by knocking out a Pokemon such as Incineroar which can allow a teammate like Gholdengo to sweep the opposing team. The Life Orb set can clinch an endgame using combinations of Wave Crash and Last Respects, but the Choiced Choice item sets must be more careful to leave foes that can be swept by one move for last.
- Sun teams can mitigate Basculegion-M’s speed and offense. Pokemon that set up Sun upon switching in like Torkoal can be countered by keeping Pelliper in the back and switching it in when Sun is up to overwrite it. Manual Sun setters like Whimsicott must be taken out by a teammate like Incineroar with Flare Blitz or Archaludon with Flash Cannon, as switching in Pelipper will set up rain first, which will be canceled by Whimsicott’s Sunny Day. You should add a few more checks to Basculegion, Tyranitar's Sand breaking Focus Sash or switching in on Last Respects can be problematic, Alolan Ninetales can survive an attack and punish Basculegion-M with Icy Wind, Disable or set up Aurora Veil, just to name a few examples you could mention as checks

[SET]
Rain Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Band / Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Grass
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpDef / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Last Respects
- Aqua Jet
- Flip Turn / Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
- Basculegion-M uses its high Base Power STAB attacks like Wave Crash and Last Respects to hit opponents for high damage, as well as its Swift Swim ability to outspeed nearly the whole metagame. It boasts positive matchups into metagame staples such as Incineroar, Dragapult, and Gholdengo.
- Last Respects can reach an incredible Base Power of 200, threatening nearly every Pokemon that does not resist Ghost-type attacks with an OHKO. Aqua Jet allows Basculegion-M to pick off a foe on low health. Flip Turn allows it to deal damage and retreat to safety before being attacked.
- Choice Band maximizes Basculegion-M’s damage, whereas the Life Orb set enjoys the flexibility that a Choice set lacks at the cost of doing slightly less damage. Notably, Choice Band greatly improves the chance for Last Respects with two fainted teammates to OHKO a Rillaboom.
- Tera Water maximizes the damage output of Basculegion-M's Water-type attacks and removes the weakness to Dark-type attacks such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch. Tera Grass allows Basculegion-M to survive any Grass-type attack from Rillaboom, and ignore Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss.
- The defensive investment allows Basculegion-M to survive a Grassy Glide from Rillaboom. At -1 Attack it will always OHKO an Incineroar in the rain with Wave Crash.
- Choice locked sets are inherently more risky to use, and being locked into the wrong move can lose an endgame. The Swift Swim set is riskier in terms of speed control as it relies on its team to set up rain. This set has the potential to be faster than the Choice Scarf set, but without rain its speed and damage output can be underwhelming. Both of these sets, as well as the Choice Scarf set, are a risk to use over the Focus Sash set as they can be knocked out with one hit.

Choice Scarf Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Scarf / Focus Sash
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Fighting / Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wave Crash / Liquidation
- Last Respects
- Flip Turn / Protect
- Aqua Jet / Tera Blast

[SET COMMENTS]
- Choice Scarf can be used on a team that does not have a way to set up rain to outspeed foes in any situation, and Adaptability can make up for the decreased damage output.
- The Choice Scarf set will always be fast, so Flip Turn is likely to outspeed to allow Basculegion-M to switch into a bulkier pivot. Tera Blast is only intended for the Tera Fighting set, in order to hit Kingambit and Archaludon. Liquidation is intended for the Focus Sash set, in order to avoid taking recoil.
- Tera Water can be used to further make up for this set’s missing damage output. Tera Fighting is used with Tera Blast to pressure Kingambit with an OHKO while resisting its Sucker Punch. Tera Ghost is used with the Focus Sash set as Last Respects is likely to become stronger than its weaker Water-type attacks, so it will benefit more from the damage multiplier.
- Jolly nature with maximum Speed is necessary for the Choice Scarf set to outspeed Dragapult.
- Adaptability is always useful, whereas Swift Swim is contingent on rain being active for Basculegion-M to benefit. However, these sets will not do as much damage as the Choice Band or Life Orb set with an Adamant nature. The Choice Scarf set may not perform well against opposing speed control such as Tailwind and Trick Room, whereas the Focus Sash set can live a fast attack under Tailwind, and use Protect to stall out Trick Room.

- Swift Swim sets often appear on teams in which nearly all Pokemon benefit from rain being set up, although they can also work with a rain core of 3 or 4 Pokemon. The Choice Scarf Adaptability set typically appears on balance teams that benefit heavily from getting a quick OHKO onto Incineroar. The Focus Sash set can fit on balance teams that cannot always guarantee speed control.
- Pelipper’s Drizzle ability allows Swift Swim Basculegion-M to outspeed nearly the entire metagame, as well as boost the damage of its Water-type attacks. Archaludon can cover Basculegion-M’s weakness to Dark-type Pokemon such as Kingambit using Body Press, round out the offensive core of a rain team, and serve as a bulky pivot to be sent out after using Flip Turn. Incineroar can be used to ensure Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide will never OHKO, and stop opposing Basculegion-M from getting an OHKO with Last Respects. Amoonguss and Sinistcha can use Rage Powder to redirect attacks that threaten to OHKO Basculegion-M such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch and Kowtow Cleave, while Amoonguss also improves the team’s matchup into Trick Room. Additionally Sinistcha's Hospitality and Life Dew can be used to bring Basculegion-M back to full health to make use of Focus Sash, or stay out of range of attacks like Grassy Glide from Rillaboom.
- Grass-type Pokemon like Rillaboom and Amoonguss stop Basculegion-M from sweeping through teams with Wave Crash. Pelipper can use Hurricane to hit these Pokemon for massive damage, or the Adaptability set can be paired with Fire-types like Volcarona, Talonflame, and Incineroar since this set does not rely on rain being active. A Commander-boosted Dondozo can survive multiple Last Respects and resist any Water-type attacks. Archaludon can threaten Dondozo with Electro Shot, and Pelipper can punish Tera Grass Dondozo with Hurricane. Alolan Ninetales can be paired with the Adaptability set to hit Grass-types with Blizzard, and Water-types like Dondozo with Freeze Dry, while also covering for Alolan Ninetales' weakness to Fire-type Pokemon such as Incineroar. Opposing Archaludon are unlikely to be knocked out even by a maximum power Last Resepcts, so Fighting-type coverage from Annihilape and Sneasler is appreciated.

Basculegion-M can use Flip Turn to reposition until rain is set, and Pelipper can be lead into Alolan Ninetales because it is slower which will activate Drizzle after Snow Warning. Tyranitar can rewrite rain with Sand Stream, and can switch into Last Respects while breaking Focus Sash. Pelipper should expect to faster than Tyranitar, so sand will be set up after rain. Thus, Pelipper is more likely to successfully set rain if it is reserved in the back, or if Tyranitar is knocked out by Basculegion-M's teammates.

[SET]
Rain Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Band / Life Orb (How often is this running Life Orb now? I think it's been pretty overwhelmingly Choice Band outside of the four people who ran it at Monterrey to 4-4 or 5-3 records)
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Grass (I would consider removing Grass here. The Pittsburgh Top Cut Explorer split seems to be 18 Water / 3 Grass for Choice Band and 1 Water / 0 Grass for Life Orb)
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpDef / 212 Spe (it's usually SpD and not SpDef)
Adamant Nature
- Wave Crash
- Last Respects
- Aqua Jet
- Flip Turn / Protect

- Choice Band maximizes Basculegion-M’s damage, whereas the Life Orb set enjoys the flexibility that a Choice set lacks at the cost of doing slightly less damage. Notably, Choice Band greatly improves the chance for Last Respects with two fainted teammates to OHKO a Rillaboom. (talked abt this in the set part but there's an argument to remove the Life Orb part in the first place)
(All moves from Rillaboom, not just the Grass-type attacks.)
- The defensive investment allows Basculegion-M to survive a Grassy Glide from Rillaboom. At -1 Attack it will always OHKO an Incineroar in the rain with Wave Crash. (252+ Atk Rillaboom Grassy Glide vs. 36 HP / 4 Def Basculegion in Grassy Terrain: 186-218 (93 - 109%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO. Roughly a quarter of the Rillabooms at Pittsburgh ran either Miracle Seed or Meadow Plate as well, so I would not include this calc for the EVing.)
- Choice locked sets are inherently more risky to use, and being locked into the wrong move can lose an endgame. (This set also runs Life Orb, so this isn't necessarily a big issue. If you remove Life Orb, this probably does not warrant a reword though) The Swift Swim set is riskier in terms of speed control as it relies on its team to set up rain. This set has the potential to be faster than the Choice Scarf set, but without rain its speed and damage output can be underwhelming. Both of these sets, as well as the Choice Scarf set, are a risk to use over the Focus Sash set as they can be knocked out with one hit.

[SET] (There may be merits to splitting these two sets into Choice Scarf and Focus Sash. All the Focus Sash ones used Liquidation, Last Respects, Protect, and Aqua Jet at Pittsburgh and were all Tera Ghost. There were 0 Choice Scarf Basculegion sets that ran Liquidation or Protect and all Choice Scarf Basculegion sets had a Tera type that was not Ghost.)
Choice Scarf Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Scarf / Focus Sash (If Focus Sash is being added to the set, this name should be changed)
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Fighting / Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wave Crash / Liquidation
- Last Respects
- Flip Turn / Protect
- Aqua Jet / Tera Blast

[SET COMMENTS]
- Choice Scarf can be used on a team that does not have a way to set up rain to outspeed foes in any situation, and Adaptability can make up for the decreased damage output. (maybe an explanation of what Focus Sash allows Basculegion to do, and why Focus Sash likes to run Adaptability)
(this goes back to what I said earlier, but I do really think these sets should be split into two different ones)

The Choice Scarf set may not perform well against opposing speed control such as Tailwind and Trick Room, whereas the Focus Sash set can live a fast attack under Tailwind, and use Protect to stall out Trick Room.
(overall I think a lot of comments on this set are things I would make if I did not want to advocate for these to be two different sets, but I if they're not split, I can come back to make more comments)

(this section seems really nice. I can't really think of anything outside of maybe noting that there have been some uses of the Adaptability set on rain teams as well when Rain tries to run Whimsicott for Tailwind and Choice Scarf + Icy Wind Pelipper and stuff.)

[SET COMMENTS]
- The Focus Sash set allows Basculegion-M to take a hit and return with large Last Respects damage in an endgame. Using Adaptability allows it to make up for decreased damage output, reliably boosting all of its attacks without relying on rain.
- Liquidation is used for this set in order to avoid taking recoil.
- Tera Ghost is used with this set as Last Respects is likely to become stronger than its weaker Water-type attacks, so it will benefit more from the damage multiplier.
- This set can live a fast attack under Tailwind, and use Protect to stall out Trick Room, making it generally better into opposing speed control compared to the other sets. However, it will not do as much damage as the Choice Band set. It can fit on a variety of teams due to it being self-sufficient in terms of damage output, and not necessarily needing speed control.

Pelipper can use Hurricane to hit these Pokemon for massive damage, or the Adaptability set can be paired with Fire-types like Volcarona, Talonflame, and Incineroar since this set does not rely on rain being active. bellchime ready for recheck
the Rillaboom calc is based off of the 116+ Attack set in the smogon pokedex, so I elected to keep it. Also, I have a sentence later that mentions Incineroar Intimidate will always let Bascu live a Grassy Glide, which covers for Miracle Seed

With Choice Scarf, maybe mentioning something about how Tera and Adaptability interact, as I don't think that's super common information for newer players, especially since you're running a non-STAB Tera type.

This set can live a fast attack under Tailwind, and use Protect to stall out Trick Room
Maybe phrasing this as "This set can live a fast attack under Trick Room or Tailwind and can use Protect to stall them out" or something of the sort because using Protect to stall turns is a thing you can do for both.

Incineroar can be used to ensure Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide will never OHKO
Don't you already bulk this hit with the Swift Swim set?

Alolan Ninetales can be paired with the Adaptability set to hit Grass-types with Blizzard, and Water-types like Dondozo with Freeze Dry, while also covering for Alolan Ninetales' weakness to Fire-type Pokemon such as Incineroar.
There's multiple adaptability sets, probably be more specific here.

It typically needs its team to set up rain to activate Swift Swim, or else it can be taken out by a quicker foe.
I would not say typically, since non-rain Basc has picked up so much lately.

looks pretty good, will take one more recheck but I'm expecting to not really need to change anything.
sorry that this one took so long, irl has been murdering me as of late.

bellchime ready for recheck
1. The Incineroar mention is for general opposing Rillaboom, including Miracle Seed and uh... Choice Band. The bulk is just for Rilla with a non-boosting item such as Assault Vest.
2. I added in a few bits with respect to the Tera + Adaptability interactions, but it might just read as regurgitation of dex info. Also it just seems a bit wordy, I'm not too sure how I can weave the info in without making it wordy.

I'm taking over qc bc there has been no progress and this needs to get out sooner rather than later, ping for recheck + keep bellchime in credits and just add me under them

Rain Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Band

EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Aqua Jet
- Flip Turn

[SET COMMENTS]
- Basculegion-M uses its high Base Power STAB attacks like Wave Crash and Last Respects to hit opponents for high damage (true, but I do want to see you reword this to talk about how it can punch holes in teams early game and clean up late game with Last Respects since that's a big part of what makes Bascuelgion on Rain so good), as well as its Swift Swim ability to outspeed nearly the whole metagame. It boasts positive matchups into metagame staples such as Incineroar, Dragapult, and Gholdengo. (imo dpult isn't an amazing example just bc it isn't too common, would maybe like to see one of the Ursaluna formes or Volcarona take its place here)
- Last Respects can reach an incredible Base Power of 200, threatening nearly every Pokemon that does not resist Ghost-type attacks with an OHKO. Aqua Jet allows Basculegion-M to pick off a foe on low health. Flip Turn allows it to deal damage and retreat to safety before being attacked.
- Choice Band maximizes Basculegion-M’s damage, notably improving the chance for Last Respects with two fainted teammates to OHKO a Rillaboom.
- Tera Water maximizes the damage output of Basculegion-M's Water-type attacks and removes the weakness to Dark-type attacks such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch (are there any specific KOs that Tera Water achieves? If so add them here). Tera Grass allows Basculegion-M to survive any attack from Rillaboom, and ignore Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss.
- The defensive investment allows Basculegion-M to survive a Grassy Glide from Rillaboom. At -1 Attack it With the attack investment, Basculegion will always OHKO an Incineroar in the rain with Wave Crash even after Intimidate. (does the speed do anything? If not just mention that it is a dump)
- Choice locked sets are inherently more risky to use, and as being locked into the wrong move can lose an endgame. The Swift Swim set is riskier in terms of speed control as it relies on its team to set up rain. This set has the potential to be faster than the Choice Scarf set, but without rain its speed and damage output can be underwhelming. This set, as well as the Choice Scarf set, are a risk to use over the Focus Sash set as they can be knocked out with one hit.

Choice Scarf Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Choice Scarf

Level: 50
Tera Type: Water / Fighting
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Last Respects
- Flip Turn
- Aqua Jet / Tera Blast

[SET COMMENTS]
- Choice Scarf can be used on a team that does not have a way to set up rain to outspeed foes in any situation, and Adaptability can make up for the decreased damage output. (I would like to see something mentioning that Scarf Basculegion is a good clean up Pokemon, giving teams the threat of Last Respects without committing to Rain)
- The Choice Scarf set will always be fast, so Flip Turn is Because of Choice Scarf, Basculegion-M is likely to outspeed its foes, so Basculegion-M can use Flip Turn to allow Basculegion-M to switch into a bulkier pivot ally when threatened. Tera Blast is only intended for the Tera Fighting set, in order to hit Kingambit and Archaludon.
- Tera Water can be used to further make up for this set’s missing damage output amplify Basculegion-M's damage (again, mention calcs if applicable). Tera Fighting is used with Tera Blast to pressure Kingambit with an OHKO while resisting its Sucker Punch. (important to note that it resists Knock Off from Incineroar or Tyranitar)
- Jolly nature with maximum Speed is necessary for the Choice Scarf set to outspeed Dragapult.
- Adaptability is always useful as it provides a 2x multiplier to a Tera Fighting Tera Blast or a 2.25x multiplier for Water-type attacks using Tera Water always provides a boost in some way (IMO what u had before felt too much like dex info), whereas Swift Swim is contingent on rain being active for Basculegion-M to benefit. However, this set will not do as much damage as the Choice Band set. The Choice Scarf set may not perform well against opposing speed control such as Tailwind and Trick Room (tbh it doesn't do terrible into TW, Trick Room is the big one because it is locked into being fast where CB can just not set Rain if absolutely necessary).

Focus Sash Sweeper (Basculegion) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Last Respects
- Aqua Jet
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
- The Focus Sash set allows Basculegion-M to take a hit and return with large Last Respects damage in an endgame. Using Adaptability allows it to make up for decreased damage output, reliably boosting all of its attacks without relying on rain. (this is already mentioned above so remove. Also maybe change from "large Last Respects" to "large attacks such as Liquidation and Last Respects" and remove the segment on "an endgame")
- Liquidation is used for this set in over Wave Crash in order to avoid taking recoil and breaking Focus Sash.
- Tera Ghost is used with this set as Last Respects is likely to become stronger than its weaker Water-type attacks, so it will benefit more from the damage multiplier.
- This set can live a fast attack under Tailwind and Trick Room and use Protect to stall them out, making it generally better into opposing speed control compared to the other sets. However, it will not do as much damage as the Choice Band set. It can fit on a variety of teams due to it being self-sufficient in terms of damage output, and not necessarily needing speed control.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Teambuilding
============
- Swift Swim sets often only appear on Rain teams, as otherwise Basculegion would be playing without an ability. teams in which nearly all Pokemon benefit from rain being set up, although they can also work with a rain core of 3 or 4 Pokemon (there are rarely rain teams in reg h where the whole team takes advantage of Rain directly, like pelipper/basc/arch are the only ones excluding Pokemon that like fire move seeing weakened). The Choice Scarf Adaptability set typically appears on balance teams that benefit heavily from getting a quick OHKO onto foes like Incineroar. The Focus Sash set can fit on balance teams that cannot always guarantee speed control (what does this mean? Also, the best placing Sash Bascuelgion at both LAIC and Las Vegas played with both Tailwind from Whimsicott and were on Rain teams, so I would just talk about how it fits on either balance or on Rain teams that have heavy speed control options). Both of the Choice Scarf and Focus Sash Adaptability sets can still benefit heavily from being on a rain team thanks to the Water-type damage amplification, despite not having Swift Swim.
- Pelipper’s Drizzle ability allows Swift Swim Basculegion-M to outspeed nearly the entire metagame, as well as boost the damage of its Water-type attacks. (Mention how Pelipper targets Grass-types with Hurricane) Archaludon can cover Basculegion-M’s weakness to Dark-type Pokemon such as Kingambit using Body Press, round out the offensive core of a rain team, and serve as a bulky pivot to be sent out after using Flip Turn. (Would mention how Archaludon can safely switch in on threats like Rillaboom or Kilowattrel) Incineroar can be used to ensure Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide will never OHKO even if Rillaboom has Miracle Seed, and stop opposing Basculegion-M from getting an OHKO with Last Respects. Amoonguss and Sinistcha can use Rage Powder to redirect attacks that threaten to OHKO Basculegion-M such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch and Kowtow Cleave, while Amoonguss also improves the team’s matchup into Trick Room (don't both do this?). Additionally, Sinistcha's Hospitality and Life Dew can be used to bring Basculegion-M back to full health to make use of Focus Sash, or stay out of range of attacks like Grassy Glide from Rillaboom(can also heal off wave crash recoil)
(overall good although split this into 2 major bullets; one with Pelipper + Archaludon and one with the rest, just for an easier read. You can probs go further and give Incineroar its own section just because its way of supporting basc is different from the others, whereas one grouping is Rain Pokemon and the other is supportive grass-types / redirection mons)
- Grass-type Pokemon like Rillaboom and Amoonguss stop Basculegion-M from sweeping through teams with Wave Crash (how so?). Pelipper can use Hurricane to hit these Pokemon for massive damage, or the Adaptability set Basculegion-M outside of Rain teams can be paired with Fire-types like Volcarona, Talonflame, and Incineroar (maybe cut this mention since Incineroar is used often on Rain) since this set does not rely on rain being active. A Commander-boosted Dondozo can survive multiple Last Respects and resist any Water-type attacks. Archaludon can threaten Dondozo with Electro Shot, and Pelipper can punish Tera Grass Dondozo with Hurricane (there are better ways to deal with dondozo, right? Maybe mention how on balance teams, Scarf Basculegion can form a pivot core with Incineroar and Rillaboom to Fake Out spam, or how Dragonite can simply Haze away boosts). Alolan Ninetales pairs well with the Choice Scarf Adaptability set because it can hit Grass-types with Blizzard, and Water-types like Dondozo with Freeze Dry, while Basculegion-M covers for Alolan Ninetales' weakness to Fire-type Pokemon such as Incineroar. Opposing Archaludon are unlikely to be knocked out even by a maximum power Last Resepcts, so Fighting-type coverage from Annihilape and Sneasler is appreciated (would also mention blursa ground coverage).

Strategy Comments
============
- Basculegion-M functions as a late game cleaner sweeper or early game breaker with high speed and damage. The Swift Swim sets need its team to set up rain to activate Swift Swim, or else it can be taken out by a quicker foe. It can secure endgames with high Base Power Last Respects if its teammates have done enough damage to the opposing team. It can bail out of positions with Flip Turn while its teammates take out the foes that are preventing it from sweeping. (would talk about how it can punch holes into opposing teams, removing key threats such as Ursaluna for allies like Archaludon to sweep)
Alolan Ninetales can change rain to snow, take a hit from Basculegion-M, and use Disable to nullify a Choice item set or Aurora Veil to mitigate its damage output. Basculegion-M can use Flip Turn to reposition until rain is set, and Pelipper can be lead into Alolan Ninetales because it is slower which will activate Drizzle after Snow Warning, though an Alolan Ninetales in the back can still switch in to cancel rain. Tyranitar can rewrite rain with Sand Stream, and can switch into Last Respects while breaking Focus Sash. Pelipper should expect to faster than Tyranitar, so sand will be set up after rain. Thus, Pelipper is more likely to successfully set rain if it is reserved in the back, or if Tyranitar is knocked out by Basculegion-M's teammates.

mention specifically that it outspeeds the whole unboosted metagame only when under rain. Would also like to see some more development in the connection between these two sentences, as they feel disconnected right now and the stop between them is abrupt; essentially, just make it have a more smooth transition.

Aqua Jet allows Basculegion-M to pick off a foe on low health
i think it's important to note that Aqua Jet allows Basculegion to avoid Sucker Punch from Kingambit

Tera Grass allows Basculegion-M to survive any attack from Rillaboom, and ignore Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss.
Tera Grass also grants a resistance to Electro Shot from Archaludon

The speed investment allows it to always outspeed Primarina.
try and find a better example; if you can't that's fine but do at least try

This set has the potential to be faster than the Choice Scarf set, but without rain its speed and damage output can be underwhelming. This set, as well as the Choice Scarf set, are a risk to use over the Focus Sash set as they can be knocked out with one hit.
Please mention that CB is stronger than adaptability; it's an important distinction between the two sets IMO

Adaptability is always useful as it always provides a boost in some way, whereas Swift Swim is contingent on rain being active for Basculegion-M to benefit. However, this set will not do as much damage as the Choice Band set. The Choice Scarf set may not perform well against opposing speed control such as Trick Room.
note that it can't protect

This set can live a fast attack under Tailwind and Trick Room and use Protect to stall them out, making it generally better into opposing speed control compared to the other sets. However, it will not do as much damage as the Choice Band set. It can fit on a variety of teams due to it being self-sufficient in terms of damage output, and not necessarily needing speed control.
note that it doesn't possess the same immediate threat as choice scarf because of the lack of wave crash + less speed

The Focus Sash set can fit on either balance teams or on Rain teams with speed control options
why does it fit on rain teams (makes up for liquidation power drop)? be sure to mention that (no need to talk about the teams with speed control options segment because that part should be relatively obvious to the reader

Incineroar can be used to ensure Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide will never OHKO even if Rillaboom has Miracle Seed, and stop opposing Basculegion-M from getting an OHKO with Last Respects.
how many boosts does the last respects have?

Grass-type Pokemon like Rillaboom and Amoonguss stop Basculegion-M from sweeping through teams with Wave Crash, as Amoonguss can redirect and resist the attack, while Rillaboom is always threatening an OHKO with Wave Crash
I think you meant an OHKO with Wood Hammer and not Wave Crash? Anyways, I think it would be better if you talked about Ghost-resists instead because of the insane ability of Last Respects.

Alolan Ninetales can change rain to snow, take a hit from Basculegion-M, and use Disable to nullify a Choice item set or Aurora Veil to mitigate its damage output.

Teambuilding
============
- Swift Swim sets only appear on rain teams, as otherwise Basculegion Basculegion-M would be playing without an ability. The Choice Scarf Adaptability set typically appears on balance teams that benefit heavily from getting a quick OHKO onto against foes like Incineroar. The Focus Sash set can fit on either balance teams or on rain teams with speed control options, as it appreciates rain boosting the weaker Liquidation. Both of the Choice Scarf and Focus Sash Adaptability sets can still benefit heavily from being on a rain team thanks to the Water-type damage amplification, despite not having Swift Swim.
- Pelipper’s Drizzle ability allows Swift Swim Basculegion-M to outspeed nearly the entire metagame, as well as boost boosting the damage of its Water-type attacks, while Pelipper itself can pressure opposing Grass-types with Hurricane.
- Incineroar can be used to ensure Rillaboom’s Grassy Glide will never OHKO even if Rillaboom has Miracle Seed (RC) and stop opposing Basculegion-M from getting an OHKO with unboosted Last Respects.
- Amoonguss and Sinistcha can use Rage Powder to redirect attacks that threaten to OHKO Basculegion-M, (AC) such as Kingambit’s Sucker Punch and Kowtow Cleave, while improving the team’s matchup into against Trick Room. Additionally, Sinistcha's Hospitality and Life Dew can be used to bring Basculegion-M back to full health to make use of Focus Sash, stay out of range of attacks like Grassy Glide from Rillaboom, and heal recoil damage from Wave Crash.
- Grass-type Pokemon like Rillaboom Amoonguss and Amoonguss Rillaboom stop Basculegion-M from sweeping through teams with Wave Crash, as Amoonguss can redirect and resist the attack, while Rillaboom is always threatening an OHKO with Wood Hammer. (Rearranged the Pokemon names here to fit with the order they're mentioned later in the sentence.) Pelipper can use Hurricane to hit these Pokemon for massive damage, or Basculegion-M outside of rain teams can be paired with Fire-types like Volcarona and Talonflame. Dark-type Pokemon like Incineroar and Kingambit threaten an OHKO onto against Basculegion-M and prevent it from sweeping with Last Respects, making Close Combat Sneasler a worthwhile partner. Alolan Ninetales pairs well with the Choice Scarf set because it can hit Grass-types with Blizzard (RC) and Water-types like Dondozo with Freeze Dry, while Basculegion-M covers for Alolan Ninetales' Ninetales's weakness to Fire-type Pokemon such as Incineroar. Opposing Archaludon are unlikely to be knocked out even by a maximum power Last Resepcts, so Fighting-type coverage from Annihilape and Sneasler (RC) and Ground-type coverage from Ursaluna-Bloodmoon Ursaluna-B is appreciated.

Strategy Comments
============
- Basculegion-M functions as a late game late-game cleaner or early game breaker early-game wallbreaker with high Speed and damage. The Swift Swim sets need its team to set up rain to activate Swift Swim, or else it can be taken out by a quicker foe. It can secure endgames with high Base high-Base Power Last Respects if its teammates have done enough damage to the opposing team. It can bail out of positions with Flip Turn while its teammates take out the foes that are preventing it from sweeping. In the early game early-game, it can remove the Ursaluna formes, (AC) which can allow a teammate like Archaludon to sweep.
- Basculegion-M can be used early or late into in a battle, but it must be saved for the late game late-game if maximizing the damage of Last Respects is necessary. It can be used effectively in the early game early-game by knocking out a Pokemon such as Incineroar, (AC) which can allow a teammate like Gholdengo to sweep the opposing team.
Pokemon that set up sun upon switching in like Torkoal can be countered by keeping Pelliper Pelipper in the back and switching it in when sun is up to overwrite it. Manual sun setters like Whimsicott must be taken out by a teammate like Incineroar with Flare Blitz or Archaludon with Flash Cannon, as switching in Pelipper will set up rain first, which will be canceled by Whimsicott’s Sunny Day. Alolan Ninetales can change rain to snow, take a hit from Basculegion-M and return damage with Freeze Dry Freeze-Dry, and use Disable to nullify a Choice item set or Aurora Veil to mitigate its damage output. Basculegion-M can use Flip Turn to reposition until rain is set, and Pelipper can be lead into Alolan Ninetales because it is slower which and so will activate Drizzle after Snow Warning, though an Alolan Ninetales in the back can still switch in to cancel rain. Tyranitar can rewrite overwrite rain with Sand Stream (RC) and can switch into Last Respects while breaking Focus Sash. Pelipper should expect to be faster than Tyranitar, so sand will be set up after rain. Thus, Pelipper is more likely to successfully set rain if it is reserved in the back (RC) or if Tyranitar is knocked out by Basculegion-M's teammates.
