Role Justification: Ice/Ground is a tried and true offensive combination. With its STAB moves, it’s a soft check to Darm, Goli, and Klaw, as it hits all of them super-effectively. On top of that, it serves as a solid offensive pivot with Volt Switch. It can also serve as both hazard control and a hazard setter, with its typing serving well as a lead. However, its only decent speed means it can struggle to answer the DD sweepers at +1 unless it’s running a Choice Scarf, on top of the usual issues of being an Ice type. Its middling physical bulk also doesn’t help.

In terms of flaws, uhh typing can be awkward defensively and it’s not particularly strong, bulky, or fast.

Role Justification: Fire is super-effective against Bax, and this Pokemon can outspeed it under Sun even after two Dragon Dances. What more can I say? In all seriousness, this Pokemon is generally a strong Wallbreaker. While its ability may seem useless without Drought, this Pokemon is effective enough under Sun that it can use it manually. Its strong offensive typing and STABs combined with its great coverage allow it to hit a lot of the metagame, including Dark and Klaw. Still, it’s heavily reliant on Sun to be effective, with mediocre power and speed outside of it.

Role Justification: Steel/Ground has always been a solid typing, but none of the vanilla mons with this typing have particularly good special bulk to go with it. Here we have a solid bulk spread, access to utility in Glare, an excellent move in Coil, and a good set of physical and special moves to cover a lot of options. Both abilities should do well, though each has their risks involved.
