Choice Scarf (SpA, Any) (Landorus) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
Tera Type: Ground / Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- U-turn
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast / Psychic / Stealth Rock
[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Scarf Landorus serves as a form of speed control capable of threatening offensive and defensive teams alike thanks to its great Speed tier, powerful Sheer Force-boosted attacks, and valuable pivoting utility. With a Choice Scarf, Landorus is able to outspeed the entire unboosted tier, as well as Choice Scarf Pokemon in the crowded 100 Speed tier and below, such as Urshifu-R and Kyurem-W. U-turn lets Landorus act as a momentum-preserving pivot, letting it safely bring in teammates to avoid unfavorable matchups such as against Ho-Oh, Ting-Lu, and opposing Landorus. Sludge Wave offers excellent coverage against Grass-types such as Ogerpon-W and Hydrapple, which resist Earth Power. Focus Blast provides coverage for Pokemon like Skarmory, Ting-Lu, and Arceus, while Psychic is an alternative to hit Fighting-types like Urshifu-R and Great Tusk. Stealth Rock is another choice if the team lacks a setter. Tera Ground provides a further boost to Earth Power, turning it Landorus into a dangerous revenge killer capable of breaking through neutral targets. On the other hand, Tera Ghost offers a valuable immunity to Extreme Speed from Arceus and Rayquaza, as well as the ability to spinblock the likes of Great Tusk and Iron Treads in a pinch.
Choice Scarf Landorus mainly fits on balance, where it can receive a good Special Attack stat from the likes of Eternatus and Kyurem-W. However, it can essentially fit into any slot as needed, as it can still function without the power boost. Landorus can form pivot cores with both offensive and defensive partners. Offensively, Hisuian Samurott and Meowscarada synergize well, forming a fast-paced VoltTurn core that pressures common bulky Pokemon while maintaining momentum. Other strong physical wallbreakers such as Swords Dance Ogerpon-W and Booster Energy Great Tusk are also welcome partners, as they can capitalize on the special walls that Landorus brings in. Defensively, pivots such as Pecharunt and Rotom-Wash can bring Landorus in safely, with Rotom-Wash being especially good due to covering Landorus's Water- and Ice-type weaknesses. Entry hazard support from Ting-Lu, Clefable, or Skarmory is also useful to help chip opposing walls into OHKO or 2HKO range for Landorus.
