Monotype Wallbreaker Volcanion (Water) [QC: 2/2] [GP: 1/1]

[OVERVIEW]

Water
=========
Volcanion is a solid option for Water teams thanks to its unique typing and outstanding offenses. What it lacks in utility, it makes up for in sheer power if given the right opportunities to wallbreak, easily dismantling common defensive cores on Steel and Flying. However, Water has no shortage of great special wallbreakers like Walking Wake, Keldeo, and Choice Specs Greninja, which are all faster and easier to get onto the field. Volcanion also struggles to break through common Dragon-types like Latios and Raging Bolt while freely letting them make progress.

Volcanion @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Name: Wallbreaker (Water)
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
- Substitute / Sludge Bomb

[SET COMMENTS]
Volcanion’s best traits are its unique offensive typing and signature move, which give it substantial natural wallbreaking capabilities, especially against Steel teams, and allow it to run Heavy-Duty Boots instead of a boosting item. Steam Eruption is an excellent STAB option that has a high chance to burn, dissuading Water-resistant physical attackers like Dragonite and Dondozo from switching in. Earth Power is essential coverage to hit switch-ins like Toxapex and Hisuian Goodra as hard as possible. Substitute generally eases prediction against targets that are likely to switch out and enables more sustained pressure against teams with multiple soft checks, such as Ground and Water teams. Sludge Bomb allows Volcanion to solidly check Azumarill and Primarina while also functioning as it's strongest move against one of Water teams' biggest threats, Ogerpon-W.

Defensive pivots are great for getting Volcanion on the field safely. Rotom-W checks opposing Ground-types like Sand Rush Excadrill, and Swampert checks opposing Electric-types like Iron Hands. Urshifu-R is an exceptional offensive pivot that can threaten Blissey and Hisuian Goodra while using U-turn on its checks, such as Corviknight and Mandibuzz, to bring Volcanion in for free. Ogerpon-W has great offensive synergy with Volcanion, as they can overwhelm each other's mutual checks like Toxapex. Hisuian Samurott can help wear down switch-ins like Alolan Muk and Assault Vest Iron Hands with Spikes while also threatening certain Dragon-types like Dragapult and Latios with Sucker Punch. After Multiscale is broken, Choice Scarf Greninja can use Ice Beam to revenge kill +1 Dragonite, which otherwise sets up on Volcanion easily. Even when running Choice Specs, Greninja still functions as an excellent late-game cleaner once walls like Hisuian Goodra have been worn down while also making progress against Volcanion's defensive checks such as Clodsire and Toxapex with Extrasensory. If running Substitute, Toxapex is greatly appreciated for its ability to handle Primarina and Ogerpon-W, both of which set up on a weakened Volcanion, as well as threats such as Keldeo and Kleavor.

Volcanion is a solid option for a Water thanks to it's unique typing and outstanding offenses. While it lacks in utility, it makes up for in sheer power if given the right opportunities to wallbreak. Steam Eruption is an excellent STAB option that has a high chance to burn and wear down even the most sturdy Water-type checks (Like?). Combined with STAB Flamethrower, Volcanion is excellent at breaking common defensive cores for Steel and Flying teams. Earth Power is essential coverage to hit switch-ins like Toxapex and Hisuian Goodra as hard as possible. Substitute eases prediction against targets that are likely to switch out and enables more sustained pressure (Like?). Sludge Bomb allows Volcanion to solidly check Water / Fairy types like Azumarill and Primarina, and also functions as it's strongest move against, one of Water's biggest threats, Ogerpon-W.

Pivots like Rotom-W and Swampert are essential to get Volcanion on the field safely, while also checking opposing Ground- and Electric-types.(Like?) Ogerpon-W has great offensive synergy with Volcanion, as they can both overwhelm eachothers mutual checks like Toxapex. Hisuian Samurott can help wear down switch-ins like Alolan Muk and Assault Vest Iron Hands with Spikes. Scarf Greninja can revenge kill +1 Dragonite, which sets up on Volcanion easily, and acts as a late-game cleaner after walls like Hisuian Goodra are worn down. If running Substitute, Toxapex is greatly appreciated for it's ability to handle Primarina and Ogerpon-W, which can both setup on a weakened Volcanion.

Volcanion's best trait is it's unique offensive typing and unique signature move. (This is kind of a nothing sentence to me, it doesn't explain at all what Volcanion is capable of doing at all) Steam Eruption is an excellent STAB option that has a high chance to burn, dissuading Water-type resistant physical attackers like Dragonite and Dondozo from switching in. Combined with STAB Flamethrower, Volcanion is excellent at breaking common defensive cores for Steel and Flying teams. Earth Power is essential coverage to hit switch-ins like Toxapex and Hisuian Goodra as hard as possible. Pivots like Rotom-W and Swampert are essential to get Volcanion on the field safely, while also checking opposing Ground- and Electric- types like Sand Rush Excadrill and Iron Hands (Pert gets slammed by CB Exca, and doesn't really beat any of the other grounds that well outside of Clodsire and Sandy Shocks, which Rotom-W can struggle greatly against hard. Spread these two in what they do differently with pert giving the electric immunity, Knock Off, and SR support while Rotom-W can spread burns and helps against opposing Waters as well) . Ogerpon-W has great offensive synergy with Volcanion, as they can both overwhelm eachothers mutual checks like Toxapex. Hisuian Samurott can help wear down switch-ins like Alolan Muk and Assault Vest Iron Hands with Spikes Add what else Samu-H can do with that Ceaseless Edge along with tools like Sucker Punch. Scarf Greninja can revenge kill +1 Dragonite with Ice Beam (also, after chip, ice beam doesn't OHKO without it), which sets up on Volcanion easily, and acts as a late-game cleaner after walls like Hisuian Goodra are worn down Anything else Greninja can do with its coverage?. If running Substitute, Toxapex is greatly appreciated for it's ability to handle Primarina and Ogerpon-W, which can both setup on a weakened Volcanion mention other threats pex can check for Volcanion like Kleavor. Add Urshifu-R

Ping once implemented, I wanna give this another read.

- I still don't like that opening that much. We don't need to be mentioning how it has a Signature move.
- Mention what Urshifu-R is breaking for Volcanion (Blissey and Goodra-H are nice targets to slam)

Otherwise, 2/2
